Think of Me

- Shots from the movie, redubbed (by me) with the voice of Rebecca Caine, so if you're wondering why it sounds good, thats why. I know there are changes in the lyrics, and that's why it doesn't match in some places, but I hope you find the ares which do have the same lyrics, to match nicely. Funfact, while making this I discovered that for Emmy Rossum, they had to transpose the song down a whole tone. You will notice that Rebecca Caine does and actual cadenza at the end, instead of warming up her low register. Now the audience has something to clap about. Enjoy.
Now this is the way it's supposed to sound! Luckily I can still see the original Canadian show when I hear the music, a wonderful by-product of having been an usher for Phantom during the first four years of its run at the Pantages. It's indelibly imprinted on my eyes.
Rebecca Caine and Anna O'Byrne are my all time favorite Christines!
Ha!!! Yes, THANK YOU for this video!! Emmy should have been dubbed in the first place, if not cast at all...
Love rebecca Caine!!! one of the best voices I´ve heard for christine! and yes I agree with rettophantom!!!
The description is absolutely savage 😂
I saw Rebecca Caine performing the role in Toronto opposite Colm Wilkinson. She's far and away the best Christine I have heard- she understudied Sarah Brightman in London, but it should have been the other way round. Thanks for recalling a great memory.
I remember seeing this at the Venetian in Las Vegas, for an hour and a half I lived in a world where I was the Phantom and Christine loved me. That was worth more than words can ever say.
Aaaaah, Rebecca Caine's voice never fails to make me swoon. :)
Cry a lot, When I watch, This, beautiful music and that wonderful voice.
no reason to cry*****its not a sad song>>>& isn't Sarah your favorite???... ...*****
Well, I will say this in Emmy defense, I really liked her. She looked the part and since this is a movie, suspension of disbelief came into play and for me, her voice is rather pleasant and at times did reach moments of beauty.
However, having heard Rebecca Caine dubbed, what can I saw other than...spectacular, brilliant and Caine's voice is one where suspension of disbelief NEVER comes into play. With that voice, you can clearly believe that Christine has dethrowned Carlotta.
Loved the movie! Singing and acting was great by everybody!

Think of me, think of me fondly when we've said goodbye
Remember me once in a while
Please promise me you'll try
When you find that, once again, you long
To take your heart back and be free
If you ever find a moment, spare a thought for me
We never said our love was evergreen or as unchanging as the sea
But if you can still remember stop and think of me
Think of all the things we've shared and seen
Don't think about the things which might have been
Think of me, think of me waking, silent and resigned
Imagine me trying too hard to put you from my mind
Recall those days, look back on all those times
Think of the things we'll never do
There will never be a day, when I won't think of you

Can it be?
Can it be Christine?
Bravo!
Long ago, it seems so long ago
How young and innocent we were
She may not remember me but I remember her...

Flowers fade, the fruit of summer fade
They have the season so do we
But please promise me..
that sometimes you will think of me!
Wow, very nice dub!! Enjoyed that.
I looove this movie soo much. and this song is just AMAZING! thank you, rebecca for your wonderful voice (best version)!
oh my gosh!!!:O.!bravo!!:) beautiful voice!:)
Wow. This got me! I've watched the movie a million times and watching this, I was thinking it sounded so much prettier and more skillfully done. Just read the caption. I think instead of downloading the movie version I'll go grab the Rebecca Caine version. I need it to practice to sing it myself and I think I'd rather learn it that way. Holy crap the ending is powerful.
OMG!!!! By far, THE best. That was the ABSOLUTE BEST cadenza I have ever heard for Think of Me!!!!!!!
hey. i like emmy very much, i love her voice. her version and the german are my favorites
some have qualities others dont--but these are extremely talented people---i very much enjoy them all
BRAVO!! I was really impressed with the singer's voice, then I was like 'oh.. It's a different singer..' when I read the comments. Caine has got herself a new fan!
i love the movie so much.i think that both emmy and gerard are great.love them
In my opinion, Emmy did very well job. Remember, that in the story of the Phantom of the Opera, Christine was a young singer. She was still learning how to be an opera singer. If you want to hear an opera, you can listen to Carlotta for example (I mean an opera singer in PotO).
Reminding you all that Emmy was only 17 there.
+Infxnity and that's not her voice its Rebecca caines voice
I love the part where it goes down in the vent and through the small crack in the stone floor as the phantom stops dead in his tracks, instantly in LOVE with her!
this is lovely!!! thank u!!! love rebecca! see hits all the high notes perfectly unlike emmy who strains through every high note!!
She's supposed to be a naive girl in the beginning in personality being too trusting snd not totally understand in the beginning the phantoms situation. Not realizing his life and his rough side. Being naive to a situation has nothing to do with how ur voice sounds. Vocally the book describes her voice not as innocent or young but as super human high notes, seraphic(angelic), radiant, something never heard before. In other words a tremendous, great extraordinary voice. Yes it's also described as needing training by the phantom but I see that as Christine's vocal definition as having al the components capable of any notes, but needing some technical help. Like a young person who has all the components but needs the maturity and exoerience to put all those componants together. So in other words she is supposed to be be a great singer and powerful is part of that package. If Emmy came on a theater stage and sang with her little power she would honestly be booed and people would leave. She is just not what Christine should be sorry.
I hate redubbing stuff because I usually stumble onto it by accident when really, I want to listen to the movie soundtrack. However, this was really lovely :) I found myself listening to the whole song. Nice work :) xx
Funny to see Miranda Richardson in the back (Madame Giry)... She plays in Harry Potter as Rita Skeeter too
We're learning to sing this & the other songs in choir. It's so pretty to perform w/ my friends, maybe I'll download it too. :)
I listen to this all the time, thank you so much for uploading it!
I think this women's voice is very clean and beautiful
THANK YOU!!!!! Damn it, thank you for this!!! I have always loved every aspect of this movie EXCEPT Emmy Rossum's vocals (or lack thereof), so therefore I have always wondered what the movie would be like if Christine was actually vocally competent... Or if they just dubbed her singing voice like they did with Minnie Driver, which I absolutely commend since they had the balls to admit that she's a great actress but not a great singer... Brava!!!
xactly emmy played christine's role of pure innocence and naiveness perfectly with her acting skills and her voice.
this voice is way better than Emmy's.
Fansi Putri yes👍
I don't think Emmy did an "OK" job...
I was taken away...
She was the perfect choice for sth like this...
With a pure voice, a sweet face, acting with nothing else but her heart...
I think everyone who was ever connected to the phantom of the opera in any way, should be proud that Christine was played by such a talented young lady...
And I 'd like to add that I've seen 2 Christine aside Emmy, and no one was even close!
There's nothing else to say or do, but applaud!
I love Rebecca Caine! Her tone is so pretty!
Ma noooo, she was perfect and in finnish, wonderful as a angel voice.
She played Christine in London and was the original Christine in the Toronto production, hence why she's on this cast recording.
love the songs and movie. phantom my favorite!
LOL to so many of the comments on here. I agree with you. It's disturbing how shocking some of the singing in Phantom (Christine in particular) is nowadays...just listening to a couple of "think of me"s of recent times broadway/westend, some of the versions are utterly frightful. I'm so amazed!! I'm not even going to comment re: the film version - because it is just that, a film - nothing more. I think it starts and ends there, if you get me? ;)
Oh...my God!! I LOVE HER!!!
After listening to sarah brightmans original version, i see now how Emmy gets a hard time for her voice compared to Sarah's
THANK YOU!!!!!!!! Damn it, thank you for this!!!! I have always loved every aspect of this movie EXCEPT Emmy Rossum's singing voice (or lack thereof), so I have always wondered what the movie would be like if Christine could actually sing opera... Or if they just dubbed her singing voice like they did with Minnie Driver... (And kudos to them for having the balls to actually admit that she's a great actress but she can't sing... So let's just dub her! Amen!!!)
Did they make her voice deeper for copyright infringement purposes? Because I have the film and her voice is much higher than here.
CristinaBellex You should probably read the description ;)
i love emmy's version of this song and point of no return. she was only 16-17 when she sang phantom of the opera's songs. some people are stupid when they compare her with sierra boggess or sarah brightman, because they were much older and their voices were much formed than emmy's.
I love this song ! Phantom of the opera is brilliant !
It doesn't matter that they had to change anything, both versions were very well sang. I am a singer and hate it when people put down any kind of talent. Not everyone has the same registers, some are higher than others, just depends on who you are working with.
her voice is nice, but so is emmy's. it's rude to act like emmy's voice is awful. her voice is awesome.
WooooooooooooW heart warmed
I love her voice, she´s such a good singer.
Bella voz y bella canción!!
omg awesome synchronising job!!
Rebecca Caine's voice seems like Carlotta's only much softer and far more suited to the song. I love this rendition!
true artistry !!!!!!!!!!!
The ending here does "fit" better than the movie. I always thought the ending that Emmy sings was a bit awkward even though I love that piece and especially its orchestra.
It actually sounds very similar to the movie, so I don't notice a COMPLETE difference accept at the end...DAMN THEM HIGH NOTES!! And of course the male voice..that's far off..from the movie. But yes! Beautiful.
emmy rossum has very beautiful and soft voice, also very strong
This was wonderful! I like both versions of course, but all the same bravo.
Beautiful voice.
I didnt read the title and went right to the video, wow hard to tell but thought it sounded different, then saw description lol
@EponineJondrette She sounded lighter in her Cosette days, but if you want to listen to true light lyric sopranos, look up Robyn North, Katie Hall, Leanne Dobinson or Gina Beck.
I also suggest that your next video is either a video of you singing or your voice with a plain background - that way you will avoid the pain in the arse of being compared to emmy's voice! You have a strong voice, you don't need to hide behind her. :) xx
So understanding!
I didn't read the caption and was wondering why it sounded so good...
Emmy rossum was born in 1986, so she wasn't 16 but 18 when this film was made (which was in 2004). But it's true that she just looks gorgeous :)
@Kimpropriety She was the original Cosette in Les Miserables
Beauty song, i really loved it 00
I think Emmy Rossum has a pretty voice, however, for this role, I don't think it works. Rebecca Caine sounds fantastic! She has such a powerful voice! Thanks for posting!
Emmy has that "deer in the headlights" look during this song..... :/
omg awesome work, beautiful voice, I love it!
Whenever I see Madame Giry (Miranda Richardson) now, I think of her as Lady Van Tassel in Sleepy Hollow. (I recommend that movie to all horror/Tim Burton/Johnny Depp/Christopher Walken lovers.) LOL =D
MAN I love me some Gerard in this movie. :)
I have to sing this in my singing classes.
Oh my goodness.
Perhaps he has a dead mother. Quite a touching sentiment really
Amazing!
@ joebuttonman, I love Rebecca Caine's voice, but in my opinion in this song she should sound modest and shy, in which Emmy does graciously a beautiful singing. Now, to transpose lower or higher with the meaning of getting the most beautiful notes, seems to me the right thing to do, higher is not always synonym of better. Emmy's highest note at the end gives me goosebumps every single time, but Rebecca Caine remains my faborite...They both get an standing applause from me! :-)
Wow thats all I can say is Wow
Agreed completely, I think it should be softer then the one in this clip...she sings it EXTREMELY powerful...Both beautiful but yeah. lol
If I was a boy I would tottaly ask Christine out! That is how pretty I think she is!
Emmy is awesome :P People it was casted with Emmy as Christina. get over it already :P

Personally I liked this version much better, though Emmy's version her a charm to it too, I just didn't like the fact that in the movie they tuned the whole music down (It's the same problem I have with Defying Gravity in Glee). But Emmy still did a good job making the innocence and young-ness in Christine, and she has a... nice voice.
You have to remember that musicals made into movies are changed and cast to appeal to a broader audience than those who frequent live performances with trained performers. The casting director may have cast Rossum because she had a prettier face, looked the right age, negotiated the lowest salary, had the right schedule to do the film, was generally more pleasant to work with, or pressures from executives could have forced the casting. Movies are about collecting money, not showcasing skill
i sang this at my school talent show wene i was 12. the look on my teatchers face was pricless it was litlary like :O
My favorite
@rettophantom Actually, Emmy was part of an opera company for a while.
well, i definitely like the singing better, i was also missing the strength and warmth in emmys voice, but i prefer the eding of the song in the movie! but anyhow love it!
Nice job!
I like much more singing of Emmy Rossum, it's so more natural and pure!
I love it
Gosh I've been listening to this over and over, wondering why does it sound way better than in the movie - and today I finally found out ;) The singer here has an amazing voice, well, Amy is talented too, but she's not a good opera singer. To me the best Christine was Siera Boggess.
Lindíssima! 😊 👏 👏 👏 👏
What happened to the original lyrics.
You made me think that I had gone insane and forgotten the words. Which is not possible it is all stuck in my head
@EponineJondrette Rebecca is a full lyric soprano, not a light lyric.
@izdun11 Excuse me? The right words? The lyrics were changed a LONG time ago. It's the film that used the original lyrics and not the ones currently used in stage shows. And I like Emmy, but Rebecca Caine is far, far better.
I know that you think of Burgess when you say that.
well Emma is close to what I imagine when the novel is concerned but incorrect in a small way.
and true she is no minnie or Seira, but she has something,
my vote is for Emmy rossum
