    • The templates are ONLY for the small projects, like a basket, or coaster, or towel wrap and etc.

Instruction sheets are focused on the drafting process and less on the sewing sequence as that is shown in the video. Sewing steps can be sometimes written out, and sometimes referenced back to the original video.

    Thank you so much for all you do. I've never sewn clothing because my sewing machine hates me, but I'm going to try your pattern diys and see how far I get.
    If I may make a request, would you please show us how to draft basic loose-fitting pants? It's my favourite style to wear but they're so expensive too buy and they never got anyway because I'm tall. I'd really appreciate it if you could show us this.
    Thanks again for making things seem doable!

      Very true, Myra! We all need those projects in-between! And this is great for summer time too - something easy to wear, and if you make it in white - could be a great basic!

    Some students might find it easiest to add the rib knit edging to the neckline before closing up the second shoulder seam, while the garment is open and flat. Same for the arm cuffs, they might be added before sewing the side seams together. This is purely a matter of preference, just thought I'd throw it out there for anyone who might like to try this method. I like it because my brain thinks better in straight line edges than in circles, sometimes.

    The older I get (retired now) the less those patterns fit so nice and easy. Got bad sewing mojo over trying to adjust patterns only to deal with fit issues. Going to try this to see if I can actually overcome my fear of pattern adjustments. Your tops are perfect for our Florida weather and look relatively easy to do. Wish me luck!

    Thanks for the video. Do I have to make any adjustments in the front, or just in the back? I’m sorry, I just get a little bit confused.

    • @ThoughtfulCreativity
      @ThoughtfulCreativity  4 роки тому +2

      Reina, the pattern piece is for both, the front and the back, the only difference is the neckline. You can then trave it on the new piece of paper and make a separate pattern for back and front - totally up to you. I like to save space and for these kind of patterns the front and back are identical (except for the neckline). If you'd only adjust the back of the pattern with these modifications - your pattern pieces would never match up. Let me know if this explains and answers your question!

    How about the extra fabric line that goes on the inside on the back?

    • @ThoughtfulCreativity
      @ThoughtfulCreativity  Рік тому

      Hid, Delilah! Not sure exactly what you mean by "extra fabric line", are you referring to the center back seam? If so then you can draft patterns with and without it, it just really depends on a few factors: 1) shaping of the pattern, like in a blazer, you might want to do a center back seam for a fitted silhouette 2) when you fabric does not allow to cut your back pattern piece on the fold 3) any other reason that is particular to a specific garment/fabric/construction/fit

    What would you suggest for making this with a woven fabric?

    • @ThoughtfulCreativity
      @ThoughtfulCreativity  4 роки тому +1

      Katrina, hi! Soooo....for the woven fabric you do need to add some ease, otherwise you won't be able to get into it. So what you can do is, take the 1 hour basic top and just adjust the sleeves, like I did for the t-shirt. That will basically give you a kimono sleeve top!

    You need a stretch presser foot

    • @ThoughtfulCreativity
      @ThoughtfulCreativity  4 роки тому

      You don't need a stretch presser foot to be able to sew knits on the sewing machine, you can use walking foot which is going to help you, but I have not used it ever and sew knits with sewing machine just fine.

    You lost me when you added the neck and sleeve parts. If it is stretched while sewing, wouldn’t it be scrunched up once it was done? How do you know how much to stretch it? Could these parts be added on beforehand while flat, so we don’t have to sew in a circle? Thank you!

But THANK YOU 💐. I thought you might like to take a look at this link.... dkhub-legacy-static-pages.s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/us1/dressmaking/patterns/index.html#dresses
    I have the book (in fact I have 2!), but if you understand the basic order of construction, I think most people could work this out...all these patterns are downloadable for free...woohoo! There are some good basics like an A-line skirt, shell top, shift dress...and lots more...enjoy xx
