The residual effect of Prime can’t be underestimated. He did the same thing at Jackson, Mississippi. But they didn’t want to include him in the profits. Lesson learned.

I lived in Boulder when Lucille's opened, and it instantly became my go-to breakfast place. First-rate grits, yes; but those RED BEANS! And the BISCUITS! Please tell me you tried them while you were there!
Agree with you completely, they offer some of the best biscuits along with other delicious options. I always was fond of the eggs benedict as well. Probably both showing our age a bit but my first experience with Lucille's was in the 1980's and knew instantly it was going to become one of my favorite places to grab breakfast in Boulder.
Likewise, I always went for the beignets and the blue cornmeal breaded pan fried trout. I don’t think they serve the trout for a number of years now, I no longer live in Boulder.

Happy fan base for y'all in boulder, co. Been a long, LONG TIME since y'all won that share of the national championship in 1990. I was in 9th grade in 1990, that's how long it's been folks 😲😳!! Good to see y'all competitive again.

They really know how throw down cooking especially grits in the south. S. Carolina, Alabama, Louisiana all the flavor.
My fam used to go here from time to time like 35 years ago before I even knew what southern (Lousinana) food was. Good to see they are still kicking. The grits and andouille sausage are top notch! Never left disappointed.

The cheese in the grits is definitely a white people creation. It's not a traditional way of cooking southern style grits. Also, shrimp with slightly thickened gravy is traditional southern style. I grew up eating and cooking these foods, so I know how black people traditionally have cooked them.
Growing up in the South, I used to have grits with Brown Sugar, but every restaurant I've been to always does cheese grits. Anybody else do brown sugar with grits?
