I like how we've gone from 1 minute tutorials to practically an hour long documentary that is really well researched and presented
Thank you very much sir! I'll be doing more 1 minutes over the next couple of weeks, and a few other things, more history when the next map releases.
What a wonderfully researched and insightful video, well done.
Holy shit. Laobi + Wags is a dream come true.
The cross over event we need.
I love that you commented on this video, sir. Many companies would be too cautious engaging with vulgar humour, but this is exactly what the community needs! Loved the video Laobi!
@Laobi Wags has been showing up in your comments section a lot lately, an omen of good things to come I am sure
@Matt Wagner Thank you very much good sir! My congratulations to you and the team on the map, absolutely incredible work. Looking forward to see if the aircraft of the chrysanthemum throne are somewhere in the future for DCS.
This was excellent - came for DCS, stayed for uncensored history.
Thank you very much sir! Would be a great name for a TV series _Uncensored History_
I wish I had you as my college history professor. I would've paid attention to the lectures.
Thank you very much sir! I would have been the professor who drinks a lot and hits on the post grads, not really good professor material.
These things are turning into an R-rated version of Hardcore History.
Thank you very much sir! Imagine Dan Carlin producing a '10 worst cocksuckers in history!' video, that would be a must watch.
Yet another hilarious and instructive video, Laobi. Well done!
Thank you very much good sir! Thank you for all the magnificent work you do for the community, truly a god amongst men.
The Marianas map is really going to come alive for me when I have the Hellcat module flying off the USS Lexington. Another great history lesson so soon after the Syria map video release. Excellent work.
Thank you sir! I can't wait for the Hellcat, Zero, and everything else.
This was more history than an DCS review…well done!
Thank you very much sir! I started it as a review and I couldn't let go the potential for Pacific WW2 with this map, the history then grew legs.
Really good stuff. You don't shy away from the brutality of things and calling a spade a spade.
Thank you very much sir! I hate to hear people talking around something, it can often lead to a milder impression of events, everyone has a different impression of bad, terrible etc.,. I'm of the no ambiguity school.
I love your videos... a breath of fresh air... keep it up 👍
Thank you very much sir! Glad you enjoyed it.
Great video, and I really appreciated the even-handed way you treated the history, free of any sort of spin or nostalgic rose-tinting. Seriously, well done.
Thank you very much sir! I do my best to question everything, I have my biases, but I try to ignore them where possible.
I love your videos they are guaranteed to make me laugh and brighten a somewhat dim day thank you for all your videos
Thank you very much sir! Back to 1 minutes and some other lighter subjects for a while now.
History with Laobi should be a series
Thank you very much sir! It would end up like Discovery Channel in no time, when I ran out of Romans, Parthians, Persians and Incas I'd end up talking to some tool who just freshly donkeyed over the wall of the local nuthouse about UFOs and anal probes.
More tears - laughter and silky pleasure tears this time
Thank you sir! The silky pleasure tears can lead to chafing when they run dry.
Whether you write this script out or free style it, you're a god damn artist
Fabulous. Absolutely wonderful lesson… All the very best and thank you. Kind regards Nick
Thank you very much good sir! Well done on the map, absolutely magnificent! Any Zeros in your warbird collection? Just a thought...
Thoroughly enjoyed both the Syria and Mariana Islands videos, Laobi. Even learned a thing or two about Japanese atrocities in the Pacific Islands.
These videos must have taken a long time to research and write.
Thank you very much sir! Unfortunately the IJN/IJA didn't bother themselves with international law. On the time front the writing was easy, the bones of it were in the noggin already, had to read a few papers on this one for different perspectives (Syria was based on travel and conversations). Just wrote a list of bullet points (usually numbers/quantities which I can never remember) and just expanded on each one as I recorded the audio. The only difficult part for me is audio recording (record light phobia).
man, this is gold. just saw the Syria video. I hope you keep these videos coming for future maps. You should be compensated for something like this, that's great stuff.
Your videos are the best I have seen on UA-cam, best humor I have come across in a long time
Another awesome video history lesson. Having been there, I am sobered by the details you uncovered for us. It was all there before, but you put it together nicely in a way that was "fun" to absorb.
Thank you very much sir! I'm glad it was somewhat interesting, it's always the downside of a long video that people will phase out after 5 minutes.
Another great historically insightful video! Great job, Crash!
Thank you very much sir! The history of this area is thankfully quite linear, unlike the Middle East.
You sir are as mad as a cut snake. Just brilliant 👏👏😂😂 Thanks for sharing
👍🏻👍🏻🙃🙃
Thank you very much good sir! I hope you appreciate I greatly reduced my chances of manko when I next visit Japan.
Wow what a video, awesome work and I love the research and work put into this, thank you!
I am SO glad i found this channel
Your quick wit and insightful research is awesome!
Cheers from a new subscriber!
Thank you very much sir! Thank you very much for subscribing, I must warn you that most of my content is aircraft and dick jokes.
A masterpiece of truths. Brilliantly done in every respect. Kudos!
Thank you very much sir! Really glad you enjoyed it and totally surprised by the response.
Man I missed your videos. Welcome back 🙂👍
Thank you very much sir! I missed making them.
My new favourite channel - informative and hilarious!
Thank you very much sir! Glad you enjoyed it.
i don't know what to say other than absolutely brilliant!
Another masterpiece!!! This should be put on the leaving cert!
Thank you very much sir! When I did my leaving cert the history books were produced by a company founded by a wanted member of the Gestapo (not joking, if you can find the series _Hidden History: Ireland's Nazis_ by the late great Cathal O'Shannon it's a must watch). This publisher's books skirted around WW2 in a way that was at odds to what I heard from grandparents and great uncles who had fought in the various services during WW2, this fuelled my interest in the period. Additionally my ancient history teacher (he was ancient) refused to use the books due to their lack of veracity (back then no one knew the history of the publisher). This same history teacher had been a POW of the Japanese, unusually he had no hatred, had visited nearly country across the globe but would never visit Japan as he still had nightmares when he heard people speak Japanese.
Well done sir, an absolute joy to watch.
Thank you very much sir! Glad you enjoyed it.
When I have a krap day I can always count on Laobi to put a smile on my dial cheers mate😂
Thank you very much sir! Glad it made your day a bit better.
Now that was a Tour de Force indeed. Brilliant and well done.
Thank you very much sir! History is always a tricky one, so many different takes, all you can do is try to be honest to yourself and consequences be damned.
Excellent commentary on 1930's Japan! Post-Meiji Japan was an old special interest of mine, you are quite on-point.
Thank you very much good sir! It's a period of time that fascinates me, but then again all unusual human behaviour does.
@@Laobi Hey fella, what's the craic?
You sir, are friggen awesome! Love it.
I'm never clicking SHOW MORE again! EVER!!! FML
He should add some ad links to Logitech mice that have a MicroGear, like the MX Anywhere 2... :D
Thank you sir! Never click show more, it's usually either e-begging or selling some merch, never worth the time.
Man, your exceptional knowledge of history, combined with your ability to eloquently describe really complex interconnecting topics with awesome fucking humour is really second to none. The syria video was BY FAR the best description of the middle east on youtube ive ever found.
Also 11:11 hits hard :((
Thank you very much sir! Glad you enjoyed the videos, unfortunately the Middle East and the weirder side of the pacific theatre are pretty much the extent of my historical knowledge.
Didn't know Laobi stood for honesty and balls of steel in English.
45 seconds in and I'm dying about the magic words said in front of a registrar horseshit comment.. So glad you're back.. Don't ever change!
Thank you very much sir! It's amazing how much trouble 2 words in the wrong place and in front of the wrong official can yield, sometimes I think I'd have better odds telling Kim Jong Un to go play hide and go fuck himself.
The first minute and a half was enough for my like and subscription!
Thank you very much sir! The first minute is usually enough for most to click the x, I congratulate you on your tenacity.
This was one heck of a video my friend. I give you a very moist A+
Thank you very much sir! I appreciate your moist A+
@@Laobi in all seriousness. Im just glad you are back in action buddy
Great video... I luv me some history and this really is some thought provoking stuff!
Thank you very much sir! I have a bit of an itch for history, I really should have studied it.
Another wonderful history lesson., thanks mate!
Thank you very much sir! I really appreciate it.
Laobi's back and you're gonna be in trouble. Hey now, Hey now, my Laobi's back!
Thank you very much good sir! I've been catching up on your videos since I returned, love the new analytical stuff. I watch, like, but never comment (the last thing you need is a string of GFYs from anyone who knows me in response to my comment). I also love the Cold Waters videos/streams. I saw you did a little War at Sea a while back, just getting into it, despite some of the flaws I'm enjoying it. Was curious if you had played a little more in your spare time.
Fantastic job mate. Both amusing and interesting, spoken clearly and at a fine pace. Would you consider publishing sources in description?
Thank you very much sir! Parts were in the noggin due to my general interest/love of Japanese things, anecdotes from Japanese friends, visits to Taiwan where I had conversations with old locals who's family members had been in the Japanese military or who were members of tribes that fought against them, and due to the ancient guy who taught me history in high school had been a POW held by the Japanese. I will have to dig through my drive and find the 3 papers and 10 or so lectures I watched mainly for fact checking, but which also added new insights, particularly 1 by a native historian from Tinian which focused on Japanese troop transfers which really highlighted to me why things went so south in '44.
Glad this free history lesson was better than your free clock lesson for mrs laobi.
Thank you very much sir! Well at least this lesson didn't involve any marital stress.
Please sir will you make one for Sinai? We miss your witty and insightful content!
Very well done sir, again!
Thank you very much sir! I'm still very much in the early research stage of my 'History of Prostitution' video, I fear I need to survey many more samples and _first hand_ accounts.
This is the way history should be taught. Thank you.
Thank you very much sir! I think parents would balk at their children referring to historical figures as 'cocksuckers'. I've even had some deluded gobshites unironically defending Hitler on here.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.. Best review video ive seen in my life. Well done mate 👏 👍 👌
Thank you very much sir!
Yet another great video.
Thank you very much sir!
Wow this History Lesson was free too and way better than the Discovery Channel videos.Well deserved Subscribe ! Well done in every possible way. 👍🏻🍻
Thank you very much sir! Thank you for the subscribe, but I must warn you as I warn all new subscribers that most of my content is aircraft and crass jokes.
@@Laobi - I fuckin love it 👍🏻🍻
Well done very informative and funny review
Thank you very much sir! Glad you enjoyed it.
@@Laobi I should add, I haven't found a video you've done that I didn't like. Please keep up the fantastic content.👍
On the whole liberation of Japan, the Army commissioned a batch of purple hearts so they had enough for the casualties they were expecting.
They haven't run out of them yet.
They did finally mint another batch in 2006, because they were concerned the 1945 ones were deteriorating, but they're still mostly handing out refurbished 1945 stock, even to this day.
Thank you very much sir! Very interesting story about the purple hearts, I had never read about it, thank you for bringing it up. It just shows how dire the calculations were, I have found nothing that convinces me that those calculations were pessimistic.
Excellent as always
Thank you very much sir!
This and the Syria video are masterpieces.
Thank you very much sir! Both were thankfully very much in my area of interest.
Well worth the wait.
Thank you very much sir! It's amazing, because I came back 2 weeks ago I feel like it's all new, keep forgetting it's been out over a month.
My new favorite History show!
Thank you very much sir! I've kind of run out of history until the next map arrives.
the single greatest history video on youtube. id have been a historian had i had a teacher with such a flavoursome lexicon. and knob jokes. i fucking love a good knob joke.
Thank you very much sir! I was only lucky enough to have 1 good history teacher for 2 years (a former Pacific POW), the rest were pants, but he stirred my interest enough to keep the fire burning. If only I could remember dates and details as well as I could remember knob jokes.
Very good! Thankyou!
Thank you very much sir!
Fantastic video thanks you
Thank you very much sir! Glad it was enjoyable for you.
"Find romance in your sisters pants." Will prolly be the next Hollywood reality show.
Thank you very much good sir! Yes, I can see it now 'Oedipal Love Island' better trade mark that before some fucker beats me to it.
Thanks. Laobi
Thank you very much sir!
AH, FFS! Now I gotta explain to onlookers at work why I'm tearing up laughing and it's pretty damn hard without the context.
Thank you very much sir! Tell them it's a really sad video of a group of circus clowns getting murdered by the Taliban, but the Obi Wan Kenobi costumes and beards are making you laugh. They'll never ask again.
LOL! The Laobi dance!
Thank you very much sir! I miss the Laobi dance, back to the Pacific next year for me.
omfg dude I lasted like 45 seconds before I had to pause to catch my breath.
Thank you very much sir! Hope the rest of the video was ok.
Loved this.
Thank you very much sir!
Most excellent
Thank you very much sir!
VERY well done. Many things said that need to be repeated from time to time.
Thank you very much good sir! Unfortunately most only listen when it's happened again.
Love your shit man.
Thank you very much sir! More shorter shit coming soon.
Japanese vice admiral Chuichi Nagumo was moved to Saipan after his defeat at Midway and loss of Ryujo carrier at Eastern Solomons. When Saipan was lost, he took his life together with Yoshitsugu Saito, the commander of japanese garrison.
Thank you very much sir! I appreciate the extra information, it seems there was no coming back from a mistake. I wonder how much experience was lost due to the prevailing culture.
It's a fantastic map. The only negative is that there no WW2 US or Japanese aircraft that we can use here. As a modern setting though, it's wow
Thank you sir! I am hoping that DCS will venture into the Pacific WW2 era, may take some time though.
@@Laobi Unfortunately yeah, WW2 era planesets are going to be years away. Modern day China, Japan, US however, or using the islands as a substitute for some other place...
This video is worthy of a graduate seminar
Thank you very much sir! I couldn't see myself at the top of a lecture hall in a tweed jacket.
@@Laobi You'd get sanctioned by the Culture Constables, anyway ;-)
You are my preferred history teacher.
Thank you very much sir! I don't think I'm teaching material, my favourite teacher was a geography teacher who was always drunk and told students who displeased him to 'go fuck off and waste someone else's class!'. I learned so much from that man.
And the hits keep coming. Very nicely done. I am a little depressed now but very nicely done :)
Thank you very much sir! No need to get down about it, the present is always better than the past, and the future is even more so (unless you're standing in Kabul).
Now this is a review !
Thank you sir! I only realised after I finished that it was rather too much history and too little review, but I had fun getting all that off my chest.
the catch is you need to dish out 1000$ on a GPU to run it decently
@@TFT-bp8zk Amen! i've been waiting more than a year to get a GPU for this game since i started building my PC.
Yeah, $1k doesn't get you much these days. An Ebayed 2080ti is still $1150 or so.
Thank you sir! I'm holding out hope that a truck full of them will be hijacked somewhere and they'll be selling them door to door for the price of some marching powder.
Speaking of war crimes I think you committed one at 26:26. Awesome vid.
Thank you very much madame! I knew there had to be people coming to the internet who hadn't seen the great man do his best impression of an octopus mouth.
Veryyyy nice
Thank you very much sir!
26:09 "Unpronouncable Island" - you had me in stitched already, but that had me outright dying! :D
31:29 ROFL, I'm loosing it!
35:13 I'm dying, again. Watching this literally is like playing Dark bucking Souls.
39:09 Coffee will be spat.
45:59 Well played. I literally was wondering why there's a friggen golf courses like every 3km. And why the buck Agent Orange isn't buckin' off to there for buck's sake.
Laobi: "Christ on a bike! Why do you keep scrolling."
Me: Laughs in Logitech MicroGear. (Takes me like 2-3 flicks)
Tank you very much good sir! What is it with golf? The only thing more stultifying than playing it is watching it, and the people who treat getting into a club like landing a dream job, incomprehensible to me. Damn you're Logitech MicroGear, I will make deeper valleys for my hidden text.
Laobi, you're a fucking mental genius "Vegas"
Thank you very much sir! I have papers to confirm the mental part, but unfortunately none of them mention genius!
@@Laobi it's both an honour and a privilege to be a squadron mate of mine, for you...
Tee hee
This must have taken effing ages
Thank you sir! I was lucky in the sense that it's a topic that interests me, the outlines were in the noggin, read a couple of papers for depth and a couple of other perspectives, stuck a load of bullet points (can never remember numbers) and yapped my way around the bullet points to the end. The hardest part for me is recording I can talk shit for hours, but as soon as a record light goes red I start tripping over my sentences.
I wanted to go to bed early you utter tease!
Thank you good sir! Hopefully no dreams of being POW followed.
I'm just in awe of your genius. Fucking genius.
Thank you very much sir! Unfortunately my only genius is in swearing.
This is how history should be taught
Thank you very much sir! Unfortunately if I taught history they'd probably haul me out and set fire to me.
You are damn funny, dude.
Thanks for this. A wonderful review of the history with your singular take on things. I really enjoy your videos…. despite my arse cheeks slamming together so hard you can probably hear the slap from Ireland, caused by the appalling single and double entendres. They really are awful and sometimes I wince in addition to my ring puckering up. But I do enjoy your videos.
Thank you very much sir! You need to start the video with them clenched, I tend to prefer my appalling single entendres to my double ones.
I want more history videos.
Thank you very much sir! When the next map arrives I will delve into the history, maybe in the meantime I'll put together a few shorter Curious Aviation Tales.
Shadows and ground object shadows to flat and flat only brings your fps way up.
Thank you very much sir! I usually run terrain on flat, but I loves my super duper regular shadows, I'll give it a try, much appreciated.
@@Laobi Good luck!
a Goatse reference in a History Lesson?!? What year is it!
Thank you sir! Goatse is a very important artist, a master!
Fuck me. Incredible work Laobi, but a bit grim - as it should be.
Thank you very much sir! As I was recording it the grimness of it all hit me, I had thought about having a little watermarked Japanese porn in the corner instead of WW2 reels so at least people could have a grim shuffle, but I never got beyond the extensive research on that front.
We now just need some navy based warbirds
Don’t worry in 20-30 decades the Corsair should come out
@@batteryboi8201 The real question is which comes first? F4U-1D or A-7E?
Thank you good sir! We need all the warbirds.
6:45 lmfao xDDD
Thank you very much sir! Glad you enjoyed it.
Holy tits on a dog, you need to get into a collab with the history guy or drachenfel. Also dont let drachenfel drag you into war thunder naval, WT is just a blowup doll at 3am on a Tuesday when you think its still Saturday night. Love what your doing man
Thank you very much sir! I love the History Guy, I hadn't heard of Drachenfel before, shall look him up. I somehow can't imagine what the History Guy would think.
@@Laobi No bow tie involved anywhere as best as I could see, best give him a miss. :p
Must do the Afganistan map
Thank you sir! As soon as the map comes out, I'll be there, I mean here on UA-cam with a video, obviously not in Afghanistan, I prefer to keep my head (both of them) well away from chopping blocks.
The fuck you're not a historian!
Clearly you've taught or studied Art History if you know about Goatsie. Fantastic to see him mentioned here.
Thank you very much good sir! It's amazing, people find a Banksy they cut the piece out of the wall, people find a Goatsie and they recoil. Philistines the lot of them.
On the upside atleast now we can have charts besides visual apr's for free unlike caucas since ed cant be bothered making charts
Thank you sir! I think I may have charts somewhere for Batumi and a couple of the others on the Caucasus map. When I find them I'll stick them on a Google drive and link.
@@Laobi lol you bought charts from easa?
wow only 56 Chinese POW's survived... that's rather disturbing.
Thank you sir! It's quite disturbing, what's more disturbing is that I believe given the same conditioning and enough sense of superiority almost any population is capable of the same.
Regarding war crimes, I was going to leave you a joke about 9 out of 10 people enjoying gang rape, but decided against it
Oh bugger....
Thank you very much sir! It's very rare indeed that a comment makes me spit my drink, I am most impressed, brilliantly played sir!
Spanish when seeing any island: Gib
Thank you sir! Generally only ones with warm climates, they were no fools.
Optimisation needed
Thank you very much sir! I imagine over the next month or so it will improve significantly.
@@Laobi its such a beutiful game though the clouds 😍
