    We are introducing the Omega Speedmaster Chronoscope in a 4K-video. The word Chronoscope blends two traditional Greek expressions. “Chronos” meaning time and “Scope” meaning to observe. The tool typically measures the duration between two points or events. Omega's new 43 mm Chronoscope performs this function beautifully - and on multiple levels.
    For Omega fans there are plenty of unique details to discover & enjoy. Most prominently, captivating dials printed with three different timing scales ...
    1. Tachymeter
    Measures speed based on distance. The Chronoscope can tell you how fast you are going, based on how far you have travelled. As the scale measures the average travel time between two specific points, it makes no difference whether your journey is in miles or kilometres.
    2. Telemeter
    Measures distance based on speed of sound. With a simple two-step process, OMEGA’s precision tool can tell you exactly how far you are from something that is visible and audible, such as a lightning storm.
    3. Pulsometer
    Measures a human’s heartbeat.Too slow, too fast, or just right? Thanks to this 30-pulse-per-minute scale, you can measure your own or someone else’s heartbeat.
    The chronographs are heritage-inspired ...
    Today’s Omega Speedmaster Chronoscope models pay tribute to brands past, with dials in the detailed “snail” design that featured on the brand’s chronograph wristwatches from the 1940’s. The 20th century also makes it mark on the leaf-shaped hands of each watch, as well as the “spiral” track pattern that elegantly runs beneath the Arabic numerals on the dial.
    The new manual-winding Calibre 9908
    Visible through the sapphire crystal on the case-back is a manual-winding Omega Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 9908 with a beautiful finish. A standout feature is the design of the Chronoscope bridge. Geneva waves in arabesque, that start from the balance wheel instead of the centre of the movement . To improve the watch’s power reserve, Omega has included twin barrels with anti-wear Diamond-Like-Carbon coating. Omega’s column wheel mechanism ensures the accurate running of the Chronoscope’s multiple functions. As a certified Master Chronometer, both the movement and the watch have proven their worth under the toughest conditions, having emerged from the industry’s strictest tests, set by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS).
    Being spoilt for choice ...
    Stainless Steel / Six 43 mm models in polished-brushed stainless steel.
    Two models with silvery dials and blued hands
    Two models with blue dials and rhodium-plated hands
    Two models with silvery dials and black subdials - better known as Omega’s famous “Panda” dial - with blackened hands.
    All dials with Arabic numerals.
    Anodized aluminium bezel rings in blue or black.
    Choice of leather straps with new steel buckle or attractive stainless steel bracelets.
    Straps & bracelets
    The new collection offers leather straps in blue, brown, or in black - which has micro perforations revealing a red rubber interior. The strap buckles feature a Ω in positive relief.
    !!! For wearers who prefer an overall metallic look, there are polished-brushed steel bracelets with Omega’s patented comfort release system (+/- 2,3 mm), adjustable to two positions.!!!
    Sizing is 21 mm between the lugs - 16 mm on the buckle.
    Bronze Gold / One version in Omega’s exclusive Bronze Gold.
    Oxidized bronze dial with special patina finish - and opaline silvery subdials.
    Polished brown ceramic bezel ring with tachymeter scale in “vintage” enamel - another design first for Omega.
    Leaf-shaped hands and Arabic numerals with Bronze Gold PVD coating. Brown leather strap with polished-sandblasted Bronze Gold buckle. More on the material
    Bronze Gold, a one-of-a-kind alloy enriched with noble elements such as 37.5% gold as well as palladium and silver, delivers a beautiful soft pink hue and offers incomparable corrosion resistance.

    Great looking watch - I think the silver dial with the blue bezel is the most stunning. A brilliant exclusive / first look at this watch and a bonus to have the Omega guy back to introduce it - that is always a nice touch. Well done.

    A number of negative comments regarding the 43mm case size. In my opinion the 43mm diameter, 12.8mm thickness and 48mm lug to lug dimensions are perfect for this style of watch.

    Just last week I received my Chronoscope in blue/silver with the steal bracelet. It looks great and wears pefect, actually smaller as the 43mm diameter would suggest. More like a 41mm. on my wrist. I'm very happy with it. Well done Omega!

    The most beautiful Speedmaster on the market now. I'd buy it tomorrow if it were an automatic, eg. had the 9900 caliber. I have a Speedmaster Professional, and you tire of all the hand winding eventually. High end watches are very much about loving the mechanics inside them, and automatics just make more sense from a logical perspective. A brilliant, mechanical, self-winding mechanism has been invented, so it should be utilized.

    • @WatchAdvisor
      @WatchAdvisor  2 роки тому +1

      Well that’s right and wrong! Thanks for sharing! Let me add my point of view: not having an automatic calibre makes the watch for sure thinner and this is what Omega wanted… winding a watch is something very sensual and intimate I think, so why not doing on a regular base. You should try to see this as something emotional and not rational...

    • @sardendibs
      @sardendibs 2 роки тому +1

      @@WatchAdvisor I appreciate that some feel like that, but I don't. A mechanical watch without an automatic movement is deliberate, mechanical imperfection to me. An extra millimetre doesn't matter much in terms of thickness, and I have never stopped wishing I'd bought an automatic Speedmaster.

    • @miabeatz80
      @miabeatz80 5 місяців тому +1

      I think the manual winding adds to the nostalgia of this piece. It makes you feel like you're taken back to a simpler time. For someone who enjoys all the nuances of the actual watches that went to space it being manual is a deal breaker and must have. Very similar to how most enthusiast prefer the hesalite crystal even though it may not be practical. If you're into cars it would be like the rack and pinion steering of a vintage 911 vs the current computerized steering.

    First-rate review (scoop!) of this stunning new Omega! I think my favourite is the silver dial, but I like the black/red too. An interesting and stylish addition to the Speedmaster range. I'm still unclear whether the Bronze Gold alloy will tarnish/patina? Clearly, the attraction of bronze is the patina, while the appeal of gold is its stability. I'd like an unequivocal "yes/no" from Omega.

    • @WatchAdvisor
      @WatchAdvisor  2 роки тому +1

      James you are welcome! Love your comment! Silver dial? YES! Also my favorite... The Bronze-Gold version will only patina a little... it will turn slightly brown... and you can always easily clean it by using either lemon juice & water or by dissolving a tablet in water one uses to clean its third teeth ... that's no rocket science!

    Thank you Alexander for sharing your videos are great. Lug to lug is very wearable it's just 48mm same as moon watch pro-1861. I think an additional important spec is the height of the watch(bezel length or diameter) because this measurement can reflect the feeling when you look at the watch. The new omega chronoscope has to protrude case design from 3 to 9 o'clock so the case is 43mm when you measure it from 2 to 8 o'clock but it's not actually a 43mm watch. Because the bezel is about 40.8mm. So the one who can wear moon watch can also wear this watch easily.

    Great video as always! I'm a huge fan of this watch - the silver dial is my favorite. I like that Omega brought together the vintage-inspired dial with the modern case. There seems to be some critique that they "don't go together". This is perhaps true if the collector's bias is anchored to the vintage stylings of the originals as "correct", "better", or simply a preferred design. However, as someone who doesn't particularly care for, or about vintage watches, I love the combo. The 43mm size makes the dial more legible and the lug-to-lug size still makes it very wearable for average to larger wrists. Plus, I think these will look even better on different straps than those presented in the video.

    • @WatchAdvisor
      @WatchAdvisor  2 роки тому

      This is the first atypical Speedmaster not being linked to moon/space/NASA ... It is the beginning of a new era of the Speedmaster chronographs sold in the classic case. The new vintage inspired design will need some time to get accepted by a broader public. You quickly understood where Omega is heading to ... Bravo! I do fully agree that the choice of straps shown in the video is only a guess how cool the chronographs could look ... there are many, many options in fact ... everybody should be able to find his Chronoscope...

    Very nice presentation with a lot of information. 43mm are perfect for reading the dial and cause of the reduced thickness it really is wearable for most wrists. I love the blue dial and the silver one, love the movement. I hope they bring down the thickness and diameter of the 300m diver seamaster chronograph, when that happens I will have 2 omegas with chronograph movement. Thank you very much for sharing Alexander and Gregory. The silver dial version would be my personal pick of the bunch without doubt purely due to the readability of not only the time but the chronoscope timing as well. The introduction of a manual wind version of the 9900 caliber used in the Seamaster chronograph (and others) makes sense as without the rotor is a slimmer movement and is well proven. The dual hand minute and hour counter is good but not perfect. I have older and the current Seamaster Chronographs (old one no waves with the 7753 based movement) where my old one is easier to read the minute counter with all chronograph hands lumed, my current ceramic dial version (cal 9900) generation with shared pinion hour and minute is great but takes a little extra effort to read but this is a minor point. It will be interesting if or when Omega release the moonwatch with this new micro adjust bracelet so I'll be keeping a close watch (pun intended) on new releases. Thanks again.

      @@WatchAdvisor The dial doesn't make sense in a Speedmaster. It would have looked better if they used the case of the 'Seamaster 1948' and made a chrono out of that. Not everything needs to be a Speedmaster. Next one Speedmaster diver?

      IMHO perfect! I have a 17 cm wrist and that Chronoscope felt good on it. I am personally a fan of straps and not bracelets, so I preferred the look, touch & feel with the straps. But also the bracelet wears good, it perfectly adapts to the wrist and is very smooth, no sharp edges etc ...

    The panda dial with the black leather strap is a pure beauty. Looks a bit like the CK2998 special edition!

    I would love the 3861 movement in there it’s so much better to look at, Wish the winding gear was visible.

      That’s a different type of Speedmaster… the 3861 is reserved for the Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch…
