This really is the best rescore ever. Were you aware of the iconpgraphy of fire and water and the 10th Doctor when you made this? This moral dilemma was the centrepiece of both The Fires of Pompeii and The Waters of Mars. Using this score, in this scene, in an episode called Thin Ice is so cool. It's because of tbis rescore that I now consider this episode to be the third part of this ethical trilogy.
Using this music as a link between the conversation and Pompeii is really interesting as he is wearing the face of a man who he saved from a mass murder he made happen
rudeandnotginger totally! When the occasion occurred when in the show, the music was from earlier series it was a nice touch. Especially in Peters last episode when they used the 9th doctors theme!
@@lew5547 I loved the soundtrack for twice upon a time too! All the reused and variations of Murray's old tracks from earlier in the show were so awesome to hear one last time.
Exactly, there are definitely parallels between the fires of Pompeii and thin ice. The first one being Bill telling the doctor to save the boy who dies on the river like Donna does the same sort of thing to the tenth doctor which I really like. That's where I got the idea to use this music. :)
You know its astonishing. We know the Doctor is a good guy. We know he's a hero. But if you ever met anyone in the real world, in your real life, who had killed so many people they'd genuinely sincerely lost count, I'm not sure it would matter... You'd still consider them a monster... This was a wonderful scene.
The way he speaks at the end is so funny to me lol, like it's how the American white girls typically speak, where every sentence sounds like a sassy passive aggressive question lol.
I’d like to see the Doctor breaking the matrix from series 12 finale rescored with some of the earlier music. I think that would work a lot better than the score they did use.
I am still working through all of these so may have missed - but would love the variation of doctor forever in fires of pompeii to be overlayed into the girl who died when 12 remembers where he got his face 👌
Not sure about the first half, think I have a slight preference for the lack of music approach. But that second half you've matched it up so perfectly and it comes across wonderfully ❤️
Bill comes off like an entitled, sanctimonious cow. And that's following the epically terrible Clara. What is it about this era of female companions and their unearned sense of entitlement? Must be this generation.
@cameron9322 that plus she just got thrown face first into seeing the Doctors darker side and even great companions have been seriously shaken by seeing the Doctor when they show the pragmat8c old time lord they are.

How is it, that Murray’s earlier themes just make these later series feel all combined 🤷🏻♂️✨ pure magic!
I agree, personally I think rtd era music can really work well in some moffat era scenes. :)

It's nice that they are using a sort of theme like series 4 when the doctor went to Pompeii

I remembered this from when River died.

That may be the case for any random person but not for someone who is forced into a situation and makes the best choice available.

It is a good thing she did not ask how many. We all know what happened the last time that question was asked.
Some say the number is still climbing even after all these years. Lmao

Amazing! This theme works so well with this scene! 😊😊

I'll see if I can come up with anything at some point 🙂 any particular suggestions?
rudeandnotginger i was thinking something similar to the track that played during ten’s regeneration.
We see a glimps of a war Doctor
i found this scene rough sad and powerful at the same time

omg this is so good!
Masterpiece - amazing stuff

weird take. she just saw a child die it’s reasonable she would be upset
