ARB Custom sounded best ...Your horn has best tone ....Durga mouthpiece sounded easier for you to play some great patterns but the ARB edges it out better tone wise...also Mindi Abair has a new mouthpiece out by Theowanne "Mindi Abair 2" ...sounds great on you tube...powerful...you might take a test on...Greg
Congratulations man, you sound really great in all those different setups. I watched the clip twice to choose one and despite “the falling iPhone” to my ear the best sound you get is with the ARB Custom mouthpiece.
Do you have any tips for soprano? I recently got one and I normally play tenor but decided to get a soprano and I like it but I can’t get lower F# to D out very easily and I’m unsure if it is the horn or if it is my embechoure the horn I got is the black nickel silver plated allora Paris series so some tips would be wonderfully appreciated and thank you all
Frankly speaking.......every sax sounded awesome because you are an exceptionally gifted musician and you make them all sound great ! I always believe that it’s the musician that matter the most and not their equipment......and you are brilliant 👌🏼😊 !
I know im asking the wrong place but does someone know of a tool to log back into an Instagram account..? I stupidly forgot my login password. I would appreciate any assistance you can offer me.
@Randy Emery I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im trying it out atm. Takes a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Matkat, I just discovered this channel, you sound great and the videos are very informative! Could you comment on the intonation of the Ishimori alto/altos? I’m on the verge of buying one and trying to gather infos/feedback from people who actually played them.. thanks!
I would highly recommend that you play any horn you're considering purchasing. Play it for several hours if possible before you sink a bunch of money into it.
Hi! I ve just discovered you with temple praise. You´re an incredible musician and sax player. I ve seen you re playing with Durga now. What would you say made you choose that mouthpiece? Thanks!
That's a great question. None of the horns that I played felt like home, how my Yani feels. the Ishimori felt the closest and I could get used to it, but the positioning of some of the pinky keys was not what I'm used to.
I REALLY want to like the Ishimoris but I just never seem to be able to like their saxes' sound. Seem to lack a special dimension of sound for me. Thank you for the video!! LOVE your current set up. But obviously it's mostly you :)
I would love to try them out with a stiffer Reed. They felt like they were either too small for the reed I was playing or had too much back pressure compared to the Durga I currently use
I know I’m late to the party...... but the Ishimori horn sounded great! They don’t really hide the fact that they based a lot of it off of the Mark VI. Did it feel similar to a VI to you sound/ergo wise? I’m curious about this because I’ve been a VI player for a long time but am looking for something similar without the quirks.
Niiice ! Did u get to try different ishimori horns ? Did u see any major difference soundwise between the unlaquered version of this alto or concerning the F# or without an F# key versions they produce ?
I hoped to get a better clip of the ARB, but the filmer kept moving to the side of me. I'm hoping to have one to test in the studio soon, as all of my heroes use them.
That Jet sounds amazing and way brighter than what everyone else makes it sound like. It sounds awesome, the only reason I didn't buy it is because it seems like it doesn't want to do split tones due to the short facing. I need something that's gonna break up and scream. I recently bought a borb Oliver arb mouthpiece and I can't wait until I play it!
Seems as though you were more comfortable playing the Muriats. The Jody just spits fire! How much does the reed/mouthpiece/ligature combination goes into the way you approach playing different horns?
Nice video, going to a NAMM is on my bucket list. Looks like great fun. I have two questions to ask you, as an confessed "Audio Nerd" ... lol. First, I just purchased an Roland Aerophone GO (AE-05 model). The more I play with it, the more I like it.Will be great for doubling. But the Sax patches are TERRBLE!! Have you thought about getting into the midi instrument field. I think it will be a growing field in the future. And with your skill set, you could do some great things. Second, what software do you use to capture your midi music to sheet music? I'm new to all this midi instrument stuff, if you could do a few videos on midi equipment, it would be great. Once again, loving your material!
"midi music to sheet music"? Do you mean my app ChordieApp? If you don't mean that, then I just manually score whatever I'm working on into Finale. There's no automated process
Yea, any software ...I was hoping to be able to play the Aerophone though a midi patch to score the music on the computer, then print it out on paper. .. hell .... they can sent a man to the moon ...
Way better ergonomics. Hands down. Almost as good as my Yani, except they don't use curved key pearls so my fingers slide off the keys waaaaay too easily.
@@MatkatMusic Thanks. Mainly I'm asking because I play a Conn tenor right now that really resonates and feels alive when I blow into it. Other modern horns I've tried are heavy and feel dead inside regardless of how good they sound to the listener. Does the Ishimori feel alive to you?

Great sound out of all the mouthpieces and horns!! Thanks for the post.
Thank you!!!

i LOVE your tone man

Thanks! And I agree, the point of the equipment should be to help us sound like ourselves with the least amount of work possible

@Randy Emery It did the trick and I now got access to my account again. I am so happy!
Thank you so much you saved my account :D
Great meeting you bro!!!
Great meeting you too, Trey! Thanks for showing me the Ishimori saxes!
Nice review🎷🎵👍, Ishimori the best sax.Great sound.
Yeah it was a great sounding horn
To me, Trevor James Bronze saxophone was BY FAR the best one.... But I am no musician, I just love the sound of it...
whichever you play, it just sounds awesome !!! wow !
Thank you!
@@MatkatMusic I meant it !! Blessings bro.
Jody Jazz Super Jet 7 or 8, P. Mauriat gold horn and Trevor James bronze alto... Liked those 3... I am pianist though, so...
Nah, only the Trevor James bronze from that list was a keeper for me.
@@MatkatMusic That's why I am a keyboardist, lol.
Nice video, um love the um counter😎
😄 finally someone got it 😂😂
@6:44 charles mcneal sitting at the left...
I'll have to ask him if that was him!
Matkat Music btw...nice playing bro, great sound, great phrasing.. ,thaks for sharing .! Peace.

I have a review of this mouthpiece, actually. Search my channel for it. I explain why I like it.
What are your thoughts on the Earth Mouthpiece?? Really digging your sound there!
I would love to get a demo to play around with. I should reach out to Theo, see if they want to start generating buzz around the piece

More important, how to each instrument feel to you? Maybe most important is feedback horn gives player.

I really like the Yani bronze Tenor myself though ended up with something else.
It's hard to beat Yani ergonomics!!
Love the jam at the end.
Yeah it was fun
Thanks a lot, i really learned a lot by this clip, even i won't be able to be there at NAMM.
No problem! It's the world's biggest guitar center, if you've ever been to one of those stores
Name of the first song?
Did you get to check out the Schagerl T1-VB?
No. I thought Schagerl just made trumpets and horns.
Man! They have a serious Tenor. I would urge you to check it out.@@MatkatMusic
That is definitely not in the budget right now. Maybe at NAMM 2020
I hope to see you there!

I really liked you on the Ishamori alto...
It was nice!! I would definitely consider getting one if I was hunting for one
Thanks!!!. For me Jody Jet sounds better than Super Jet . Do you like Jody Jazz Jet?

They feel like a yanagisawa

I just played one horn.
Ishimori sounded the best, your current Durga sounds better than any other piece u played

Aye man really appreciate watching your videos... I seen you in “Bettersax” UA-cam channel 👌 🎷
Thanks!! Can you share a link to the one you saw me in?

Which ishimori mpc is that? Thanks
I didn't play any Ishimori Mouthpieces. I only played the durga
Thanks from a Californian in exile.
I like your tone set up at 650 K
Thanks!

That Jody couldn't be pushed enough. The clip sounds great because of the camera angle. I'd like to test one out in my studio on the mic.
I did not like the muriat ergonomics compared to the other horns I named

Uh, just record the midi into logic and either export the midi to finale or use Logic's score editor
Thanks, will give it a try.
7:40 the great beatbox sax guy
I NOTICED HIM TOO
Dereck Brow.
P. Mauriat gold 67!
Meh
Thanks bro

Ouch to the guy walking by who covers his ears.
Lol where in the vid did you see that?

How does the Ishimori alto compare to the Conn at Robertos that you really liked?
Way better ergonomics. Hands down. Almost as good as my Yani, except they don't use curved key pearls so my fingers slide off the keys waaaaay too easily.

It felt like how my Yani would feel with an overhaul, minus the concave pearls
Ishimori sounds best
