Man, I love this little “review”. A true “family” man review and just saying it how it is... looking to pickup up a RAM 1500 w/eTorque so this was very helpful, thank you.
No problem and thanks for sharing 👍🏾
@@JB_WhoWork reply to my comment pls
gas was 1.89 just a couple years ago. Crazy how a single administration can screw EVERYTHING up.
Oh... u mean the pandemic that China released?
I'll tell you brother I miss when gas was a $1.89... Keep up the great videos
I have a Laramie with e tourqe myself. I love it! I drove to Florida from TN in it and the whole trip averaged 20 miles to a gallon. That's phenomenal for a truck this size. I switched from a 2002 5.9 Durango to this truck. I loved my Durango and was sad when it sold, but this was definitely an upgrade!
How has it held up for you?
@@anthonyvu749 Same, but to be fair I only drive it once a week. I drive a company truck 6days a week. The Ram still has less than 17,000 miles on it.
@@ronniechoate3086 Ok, I’m just trying to get opinions on the reliability
I Just got a Ram Laramie and I noticed you pumped 87 octane the manual recommends 89 for best gas mileage
This was an excellent video! That's so awesome it's a company truck! Thank you for all the info. You're awesome dude 😎
No problem, thanks for sharing 👍🏾
@@JB_WhoWork hi we just bought a 2021 ram limited fully loaded and are getting 12.6 mpg in city will it get better once truck breaks in it’s a 5.7 Hemi e torque what do u get in the city and wats ur gear S?
I’m getting about 14 in the city but that’s mixed with hwy too
I absolutely despise paying for air!! Lol Luckily here in Jersey we have WAWA and the air is always free.
Thanks for making these videos man..you helped me make up my mind..I'm gonna go with the ram. You definitely get more bang for your buck. Keep the vids coming..I'm subscribed. 👍
Lol me too, I forgot my Viair at home so I had no choice. Thanks 👍🏾
Thanks bro love your video, about to buy my new Ram soon ..
Always appreciative of real world numbers in videos. I drove a 2015 Grand Cherokee 65-70mph down the west coast for about 220 miles and the computer showed 22.4mpg I could feel the MDS active/inactivate. Grand Cherokees with the Hemi 8 speed have 3.09 gears so the RPMs were really low which helps like you said.
Thanks! Yea that 5.7 JGC is getting what my V6 was getting which is crazy... thanks for sharing 👍🏾
That 5.7 is amazing if you stay out of the throttle. My 300 with it was kissing 25mpg round trip Phoenix-Tucson on cruise the whole time.
Good review, beautiful family!
67mph was always the sweet spot in my 2011. Just about 21mpg on flat land in la and tx. Come down here we got canes and Popeyes on every corner!!
That great for a truck all things considered!
Lol! We have Popeyes but you never want what you have 👍🏾
Thanks for the review. I'm looking at buying one shortly but with a 33 gal tank. I like road tripping.
No problem, truck is a perfect cruiser 👍🏾
Yeah I live in Alaska so the big tank is absolutely necessary lol.
Nice to see someone actually fill the tank, use the trip and figure the MPG instead of going just by the computer.
Those numbers are pretty good for a full size V8.
Do you like the eTorque?
Thanks! The computers are more accurate compared to older trucks and sometimes they show less than what the pump says which is nice!
The eTorque definitely adds that low end tq better and the start/stop system works way better too! I would recommend it for sure 👍🏾
I'm going with True...
but only with the 3.21's and only if you drive efficiantly and drive under 61 mph. Limited braking, excessive coasting, limited 0mph idling (engine goes to V8 mode when 0mph idling).
One other thing... 5.7 trucks with 3.21's get the best fuel economy at 30-45 mph (@ 8th gear). At 30, you'll often have to let off the acclerator for a fraction of a second, to force the truck to grab 8th. (can't narrow it down further than those speeds since the instant MPG bar, on my '19 classic, only goes to 30mpg's.) At around 50mph, constant speed, the bar starts creeping down below the 30mpg peg... at 75 the bar is hair above 20mpg's. And it just go's lower and lower from there.
my opinon*
...if you can avoid the Etorque verision (which I don't think is possible for the '23's). The fuel savings it gives (about 1mpg) isn't worth the fail rate of it. (as for auto stop/start thing... I don't like the idea of the starter working that hard.) NOt a big deal if you don't plan on keeping the truck beyond it's warranty period... for the rest of us, though. I don't trust that the etorque or the starter to last longer than 80k miles. *
14:17 It's ur driving style. My 5.7 '19 Warlock get 16.0 in the city. And it lacks the stop/start thing, and the Etorque. And if I hotrod the thing... it's closer to 11.
God I remember the day where we didn’t have to pay for air to fill the tires. Lol. Cool video JB. Keep it up and nice family. Cheers
Lol tell me about it! Thanks brother 👍🏾
I don't know if it's a California thing but here we get free water & air for our vehicles if we are purchasing gas. We just have to ask the attendant who will remotely bypass the payment on the air compressor.
Henry sweet. Not here in Canada or in my province. Cost a buck to fill your tires. You better hurry up for it’s on a timer. Lol
@@henrysoukhavong5187 yeah it's a california law. i used to live in sacramento and yeah the air was free but in my experience over half the air stations were broken and the stations had zero incentive to fix. i ended up just buying a portable compressor that plugs into the cigarette lighter
Dude! Beautiful family and beautiful truck!
Thanks 😀
Had a 2020 bighorn hemi e torque with 3.21 rear gear. 14mpg city 16.5 hwy. Got rid of it for a 2022 hemi no e torque with 3.92 rear end. Now getting 17.5 city 20 hwy as long as I keep it at 70.
Love the videos.
I have a 2020 ram sport/ canadian trim 16.5 mpg currently
Thanks! Not bad is that eTorque
No e torque
Raising Canes is the bomb! I live about 20 miles south of Cinci!
Ahh man I should have stopped by to see you lol! The best fast food I have had in awhile 👍🏾
I have one down the road - knew nothing about them - your comment made me check it out - pretty tasty!
🤤
Not sure what my rear end is, but my 2020 Laramie Hemi
w/etorque WITH SUMMER BLEND FUEL can get 22 mpg driving at about 70 on the I-90 from Tacoma to Cashmere WA....that's thru the mtns and two mtn passes.
The DumAzz winter blend is 2-3 mpg lower.
Wow that’s amazing for a full size truck 👍🏾
I'm upgrading from my 2013 Town & Country minivan to a 1500 Longhorn. I am a little scared of what my mileage will be since my minivan is doing 16.5 - 17.5 on my daily commute, but that van is old and has over 300k miles on it.
The thing that sold me on the RAM over other trucks is the huge interior space and IMO smart interior design. I didn't want to lose the huge space inside the minivan, but I'm hauling a lot of stuff these days that shouldn't be on the interior of a van, and the carpet and seats are getting a lot of rough use.
One look at the interior of the RAM 1500s, and I knew I've found what I'm looking for.
City/Hwy you will get about 14-16 depending on how much stop/go you’re doing
Interesting, however this is what I’m seeing on the 5.7 Etorque. I have a 22 Ram Rebel Etorque 5.7 with factory 33” wranglers and my combine city & highway is 18.4 . I did install a Borla touring performance exhaust which increased my mpg by 1.5 mpg. My real world mpg (mathematical) shows the instrument reading off by 3 tenths of a gallon.. I consider this good for for a full size v8 truck. If your mileage reading is off by 3-4 gallons you may want to have the dealer recalibrate the mpg reading .
Not sure if same in your area, but here you just have to make a purchase gas or inside and they turn air on for free.
The etorque only works at very low speed, pretty much from the start. It does nothing on the highway.
Good review. They are great trucks!
I’m a little confused why ppl turn off the auto stop start feature because of the weather. I’ve noticed my Ram’s auto stop start isn’t active if the cabin is cooling based on the set temperature. If you have it set to low and it’s hot outside auto stop start should automatically be deactivated. So why turn it off? 🤔 maybe I haven’t had my Ram long enough lol
I have a 2022 warlock just a hemi (no e-torque) and 3.92 gears. I get 15 around town and 20 on the hiway. I've had two vehicles over the years and did several test using start stop and turning it off. I always got better MPG with it off. Just another gimmick to to sell you cars. Also tell the people that to replace that 48 Volt battery is $8,000. So keep that in mind!
I can only manage about 15.5 on highways at 75 mph. Around town is around 12 mikes per gallon.I’m also running a 3.95 or .92 gearing Can’t remember exact gathering at this moment.
Oh wow, is that climbing grades? I’ve heard of guys stepping up to mid grade and that helping fuel mileage. 3.92 axle btw 👍🏾
@@JB_WhoWork just driving on the highways around here. I have another friend has same set up but not e-torque and gets just about the same. Love the truck but miss my diesel for towing and general mpg
Love the videos 👍
Thank You!
2019 Hemi with 321 rear-end. I get 24-25 MPG on highway at 72 miles per hour! Average all around about 19 MPG!
Dont top off your tank!!!! When it clicks off you're done. Toping it off over time will ruin your evap canister.
The most accurate is what u do on a pump. How much fill and how much u use…. Computer is usually wrong.
"this is a company car" - niiiice!
YEAH, all I get is a 2017 Chevy Colorade, although I believe we're getting the new Rangers soon. Still, they gave him a sweet ride. Company vehicle is a huge perk!
I have a 2022 Ram etorque and currently only get 14-15 mpg city and 20-21 highway with a light foot. Under 1000 miles on it so I am hoping for an improvement when the weather warms up. My 2014 Silverado got about the same with a 5.3 vs the 5.7 Ram. Not crazy about the tiny 23 gallon gas tank compared to my 30 gallon Silverado. The Ram has 3.21 rearend
I’ve got the 3.92 gears with 5.7 e torque. I’m getting 12 city and 17 highway. I’d do better if I drove a longer distance but haven’t needed to yet.
@@nordlandak6853 my Ram now has 9,000 miles on it and I’m getting 16 mpg in the city ( maybe summer mileage) and 21.5 - 27 mpg highway. Obviously various factors affect that. Overall I’m happy with the Truck
Check engine light at 4,000 miles ?????
I feel like the trip computer only samples/calculates the last two hundred miles. Because when I reset my trip meter no mater how good or bad the MPG on the current trip, all the mpg gauges read the same after around two hundred miles. Meaning the main overall trip and trip A and trip B all read the same MPG. I hope that makes sense.
So I thought I was the only one that noticed this but that has to be a FCA thing. I re set the trip A/B at different times and noticed after a long trip they were averaging about the same 👍🏾
Your tire PSI is way low. You should have 39 too 40 PSI in the tires. That hurts MPG running on low tires.
Thank you, I ran them close to spec so maybe on next trip I will redo 👍🏾
Thank you for the video. I have a 2013 Ford F150 FX4 super crew with the eco boost. max tow. it has a 3.73 rear. I get around 13 MPG in the city and around 16 MPG on the highway. My next truck will be a Ram. I'm just trying to figure out which engine. option. I don't tow I use it as a daily driver. I'm stuck between the 5.7 or the V6.
No problem! Nothing against the 6 cylinder but I would go with at least the 5.7 because you still have start/stop and MDS so you should get the same on the Hwy as V6. Also consider resale value 👍🏾
Love the channel
Thank You!
My old 2005 Ram 2500 gets 17 mpg combined driving....mostly town driving too. After lot's of research I'm not impressed with the Hemi e torque at all. There's a lot of complex over engineering to go bad over time and for what? a couple miles MPG? How's your Ram holding up? I bought mine new in 2005. I almost bought the diesel....glad I didn't because my Hemi will out live the truck as it is.
Overall I don’t drive it much but it’s been a great reliable truck these last 2 years. No issues but I agree that the etorque is just a way to capture 1-2 more mpg to make the EPA happy 👍🏾
JB
When are the 2021 RAM HD
Coming out are there any changes
I need to do an update on this as I’ve been hearing noise that they will have some differences 👍🏾
I have a 2021 Ram 3500 on order. It's supposed to be built on 11/25. As far as I can tell, it's the same as a 2020.
@@mikee994
When I go to the ram build site it only had
2019 or 2020
Is the fill alert only available for the level 2 equipment group options? When I purchased my 2020 2500 Tradesman Level 2, it did not show what the MPG would be for highway and city. Once I travel to and from NC cruise control of course, it was pushing 18 on the highway. Fantastic!!! videos as always and trailer.
You may have to step up to a Big Horn if I’m not mistaken... maybe someone can chime in.
That’s not bad, are you running the 3.92 rear?
Thanks 👍🏾
I have the 3.73
Haha, I missed the 2500 in your comment. I would love to do a 200 mile trip comparing the 4.10/3.73 to see if there really is a difference in MPG 👍🏾
That would be the cherry on the top, completing the rest of your comparisons.
Every Dodge or now ram i ever owned had a94,97,99 ,01,02,06, didnt start getting better milage til 25k miles my 2021 ram limited 16.9 but has only 1500 miles so thats all im getting im ok with it
Dude what.. I get 14.4 mpg with my 2019 Hemi Etorque. I have NEVER gotten over 16.7 average mpg in my truck even with highway driving. (How much highway driving? I got my 2019 new, and I have 58k miles on it)
Do you have 3.92?
We just bought a 2021 ram limited it has 3.92 but avrg only 13mpg it has like 100miles on it will it get better and any tips?
Air up the tires, run 89 octane, and maybe get a bed cover
@@JB_WhoWork what was your mpg before breaking in your truck did breaking it in even help?
My truck only has 9k but I haven’t seen much of a differences at the pump. I can get 20 MPG on the HWY if I’m driving too and from a destination but it falls down to about 15-16 MPG with 60% HWY driving
gas mileage will go up around 5,000 miles and around 10,000 miles it will not go up anymore.
My friend has a 2016 tradesman quadcab getting 19mpg on a v6 3.6l
Not much different than the V8
Well, i did my own math on my trips, so, going 65 m/h gives me 19 m/g, going at 85 m/h gives me 18 m/g and driving in town 17, know on idle for 4 hours it gives me 14 m/g... so, don't keep it running on less there isn't options...keep on mind that I went from gas light on to fill all way up and back to light on to check my real trip m/g on my calculator, no by what the computer says...
Thanks for sharing
1.50 for air? crazy.
2019 Limited 4x4 w/ 6'4" bed. Mixed town and interstate daily driving I average 17.5- 18 mpg. Strictly interstate on a trip the best was 20.5 mpg.
Nice!
13 gallons only costs $28?? Where was this??😂

Mine does not lol. 14 city 17 highway.
Still not too bad for a truck
Go to Walmart get a tire pump for each vehicle you drive.
I'm so confused, i see reviews of the gas mileage all over the place for this truck, i know there is different situations like towing etc, but I've seen videos saying highway 14 mpg, 16 mpg 20 mpg 22 wth lol
