After we waiting ( After The Love Has Gone ) 😁😂
KarlisMusik... I hope you do not mind me sharing what I hear in the horn and bass intro. The overall horn part is a simple AbM- BbM-CM-DM all major traids. However, these chords are played over the top of a Funky dissonate bass line, which does not support and resolve in a typical fashion, Thus the greatness of EWF. The bass line is all 16th notes: Bb-B#-C-D-Eb-E-F underneath simple root position major triads: AbM- BbM-CM-DM.
DrJay not at all thanks for sharing !
Man I was covering this song and wanted to figure out the horn part and I somehow ended up finding your comment. Thank you thank you. As well as the OP for the great breakdown on how to play the keys to this song!
DrJay I have played this song many times with many bands over the years and we played the same chord progression on the intro you have here. My best friend is a member of EW&F and heard them do the same progression live. ABM-BbM-CM-DM with the bass riff Bb-B#-C-D-Eb-E-F
These chords would be named and notated by the bass note so Ab/Bb is really a specific voicing of. Bb11. That's how I hear the intro and notated it would be Ab/Bb. Bb/C C/D. then D/E but the bass does that chromatic line that includes that passing notes. Great Video Tutorial KarlisMusik!
This is right! lol
Fantastic, Karlis !. Thanks !
You're welcome and god bless you
u got that "Thang" in yo voice ❤
Grettings from Colombia, excelent bro!
Shouts out to Colombia!!!!!!!!! Thanks for watching
Love the video man! I'm still pretty new to piano but wanted to challenge myself learning this to play with a friend. I'm mainly a guitar player so it really started to click when I realized these are mostly all drop 3 voicings which are super common for jazz guitar; either using R-7-3-5 or R-7-9-11. I'm sure the more I get used to piano the more I'll see them as slash chords like Eb/F as opposed to F9sus4 and so on, but I just wanted to throw it out there in case it helps anyone else. Love your voice and way of breaking things down. I'm excited to learn more of these classics from your channel!
Thanks for pointing that out! I’m in the same boat but you have a better understanding of the drop voicings
NICE!
DrJay thank you
🔥🔥🔥
🙏🏾
Awesome family
Nail it !
Haha thank you
Thanks bruh!
Bro thank you much....
My pleasure, thank you for watching
Thank you so much 😭
You’re welcome. Thanks for the inspiration
Are you doing it all by ears? Got such a feeling!
Fatmoh yes by ear
@@karlismusik you got the gift!
@@karlismusik You read and write music though, right? otherwise how you naming some of these crazy extended chords? (some of the amazing D'angelo voicings come to mind:)
First 2 chords are incorrect. It’s A flat over B flat and B flat major over C bass
Straight
Those first 4 chords are wrong.... It's whole tones starting with Ab/Bb, Bb/C, C/D, D/E and then Eb/F
F minor
Please learn the words ..
bene, ma la voce è meglio del piano
vi ringrazio tanto
