As always, a trip through my past. Had a shipmate that lived on the corner of Saratoga and Enterprise. BBQ, Pinchos & beers almost every wknd. White sands, crystal blue water, beautiful tropical island... Not to mention gorgeous women. Turning an 18 yr old loose on an island like that ruined me for good... But in a great way. Puerto Rico was and still is an amazing place to visit. Loved being stationed there. And have been back a few times since. Think I'm overdue for another visit. Keep up the great work Sammy. Thanks for the memories...

I took my mom to see where she and my father lived, the house where I lived when I was born in 1971, my father was in the Navy, he passed away in 2021, today is his birthday, it brought much joy for her to see where they lived. She watches your videos now religiously. Thank you

It's bittersweet to watch this. Born and raised in PR. Grandparents house just outside the middle gate. I think it was a great loss for the town of Ceiba when the base closed. I had to go patrol the coast when they were in the process due to some locals protesting. It's kind of sad also to see all that land and infrastructure go to waste. On another hand, the nature taking over what was lost looks beautiful. Thank you for the video.

Thank you for watching. Agree this was a huge lost for the east end of the Island.

Great memories: I was assigned to the USCG Loran A Station Cape San Juan, Fajardo, in Late November 1980. In January 1981, the Loaran Station shut down, becoming the USCG Light Station Cape San Juan. At the time, I was an E-2 and became part of a five-man lighthouse keeper. I was assigned housing at a six-house complex called the Coast Guard housing. I was the only E-2 in the base to have a 3-bedroom house. It was funny; the Navy sailors hated me for that. My oldest son was born at Roosy Hospital. Of all the duty stations in my eight years in the USCG, Roosy has a special place in my heart-señor, gracias pro las memorias. Stay safe.

Thank you for this video! My father was stationed there and we lived on that road. I sure wish I could see our house. As a kid I remember walking a ways to a near by pool where all the kids went to swim. I also rem the trail to take to the elementary school. We lost touch with our friends Erin and Heather Donavan. As kids this was an amazing place to live. We loved it. Wish I could ride with you around the area. That’s all we did when we lived there. Thank you again for sharing this with us.

I sure enjoyed days at the beech with our family and our navy family’s. I’m sure you enjoyed it to. Be safe out there. I’ll keep watching your videos and thank you for sharing.

Thank you. As a kid in the late 70’s there was a bike path near that corner where you could ride to the elementary school. We lived on the corner of Enterprise and Midway, right below the pool. Always enjoyed riding my bike down that hill. Would love to see you try and ride there.

We used to live at 11 Wasp Circle which was the 1st right going up Saratoga. I guess that portion was also just renamed to all of it being Saratoga? It was the only house on base that had some sort of weird Santa Fe looking diamond pattern painted on the bricks by the front door. It wouldn't matter if you could see it from the roads anyway as it's been so overgrown with vegetation that it isn't even visible from satellite view. Thanks for posting the videos. 😎

😊Thank you for the trip down memory lane. It's been quite emotional. I lived at 44 Saratoga Dr. In 1975-1978 where my mother passed away in my lap in front of the navel hospital in 75. You went down the road but I was on the right side on the curb winding up a lil ways before the intersection. Is the middle school still standing? Anyway thank you for what you do. Even though it feels as if we have been erased sort of but I appreciate you going where we can not. Thanks again my friend.

Thanks for the videos. I've been looking for this a long time. I guess it's time to stop dreaming about a retirement home at Roosevelt Roads. As a child, my family lived at 18 Franklin Road from 1961-1965. One of my father's responsibilities was manager of the club out on the island but it looks like it's been rebuilt. I was in a swimming pool at the enlisted housing when my mom called to say JFK had been killed. From our house we had a great view of Viegues and the anchorage ships would use before the piers were constructed. Hopefully you will get some good video of the coast at the end of Franklin Rd, as this was my playground for four years. Fathers name was ABCM Robert High (deceased).

Hi my friend thanks for watching and thanks for the service renderd by your dad may he RIP. Wow that is a story for sure since those that lived that terrible moment in our history will never forget the place they were when it occurred just like 911 for me! I have a video that covers a little bit of the houses in Franklin but now I am taking them by sections. Also in the video where I tell my story there is a great view of the bay and that is in the end of Franklin.

Hi Sammy, this was really cool - I'm really excited to find your page - if you're doing requests for housing, I lived at 1 Essex Drive from 1998-2001 - my daughter was born at the Naval Hospital there, 24 years ago. enjoyed the final trip down Essex in your video, even though it looks very different! Such fun memories. If you're still able to do requests, could you check out 1 Essex? I'd be very appreciative! Thanks again for the trip down memory lane.

I LIVED IN ROOSY ROADS FROM 1950 TO 1959 AND THE ORIGINAL OFFICERS, (MARRIED) QUARTERS BY THAT TIME WERE IN FRONT OF THE LATEST HOSPITAL IS AT. BY THAT TIME THE HOSPITAL WASN'T THERE. THE HOUSING AREA USED TO BE CALLED THE 18 HOUSES BECAUSE THERE WERE ONLY 18 HOUSES. THE SAME WAY THE HOUSING AREA FOR ENLISTED MARRIED MILITARY, RANKED LOWER THAN OFFICER, WERE CALLED THE 120 HOUSES.
