    Thanks for the demo of your upgrades; I would love to see the "cheat" on your seat to see how it's bound together, and I'm wondering if you could say which type of skid tape you're using, and also where you found the paddle clip. Thanks in advance!

      If it will help you I can make a quick video to show you the seat. But I wouldn't be able to put it up until Sunday. Would this be any good for you ?
      As for the skid tape it's called (YAKER TAPE) and I picked it up from eBay. The paddle holder was from Amazon. Hope this helps

    Im glad you still like it. I got mine just over a week ago. I will say i have the thigh and hip pads from Pakayak and i do not like them at all. I might have to look at what you did for them instead

      I know what you mean. I made a video about upgrading the thigh pads and hip pads, it's in my PakAyaK Play list. But if you have any questions please feel free to ask. Cheers 🍻

    Good overview! Glad you've landed nicely with the Pakayak + your modifications. Pity about the lighter option but as you say, perhaps it proves to be sturdier in a pinch. The only question you didn't address: can you really pack a yak in it? They are large animals after all! 😅

    Hey George, Bob here from Canada. Did you do a video on changing your seat over in the Pakayak to the Dagger seat? I might have missed it. Take care.

    • @THE-RIVER-RAT
      @THE-RIVER-RAT  5 місяців тому +2

      You didn't miss it I never made one because it's a bit of a cheat.
      What I did was put a gel seat on top of the PakAyaK seat then I picked up the palm seat (check the link below) and I fastened them together under the seat with some bungee cord. Very comfortable now and have been out for 8-hour-long paddles with no bum issues lol

      If you want to see it I can make a quick 5-minute video to show you if you want.

      @@Paddleclips Ok mate no problem, however if I remember the next time I'm out in the PakAyaK I will mention the seat and show it on the video. If I remember 😂

      @@THE-RIVER-RAT I just ordered a Pakayak (and wearing out my refresh button!) and am watching this video and taking notes! I appreciate the insights and ideas you share with us, George, thank you.
      Just so I'm clear on the seat improvement, is this understanding correct?
      1) put a gel seat on top of the stock Pakayak seat
      2) put the Dagger Contoury Ergo seat pad on top of the gel seat
      3) fasten the stack together under the Pakayak seat with some bungee cord

      @@andyd3063 SPOT ON BUDDY that's exactly what I did... So happy you found this video helpful. Once your PakAyaK arrives if you have any questions that you need help with please feel free to ask, I'm happy to help.
      Here is top top tip for you. Get yourself a small 6x6 tarp to stand the yak on while you put it together and take apart, then you have the BIG towel that it comes with free to dry it down, also stops anything getting in the gaskets.
      Doesn't have to be a great tarp the one I use was only £5 from amazon. However, if you are also planning to go out in winter then I would also pick up a big one about 12x10 so you can lay the boat down on something dry when the grass is wet, I use both and glad I do as it makes life easier.
      Hope this helps. Let us know if you post any videos.

    What were the knee pads that you added here?

      They are pirina thigh braces. You may find this link useful to ua-cam.com/video/Ydz59t3XXq0/v-deo.htmlsi=1QL4oq2-v4fssBNW

    Hello, you may of covered this in a previous video. Do you prefer this to the itiwit x500? I was thinking of getting that but I'm not to sure. Why did you replace the itiwit, would you say this is an upgrade. Enjoy the channel and appreciate the information. Thanks

    • @THE-RIVER-RAT
      @THE-RIVER-RAT  5 місяців тому +4

      The X500 is an absolutely fantastic kayak and I had many many hours of enjoyment on the water with it. It's extremely well made and handles all types of Waters but I would stay away from White water.
      However yes in my opinion I do consider the PakAyaK to be an upgrade and a much better boat. But if you did buy an x500 you would not be disappointed.
      Hope this helps however if you have any other questions please feel free to ask.

    I’d love this but can’t find them in the uk 😢

    • @THE-RIVER-RAT
      @THE-RIVER-RAT  5 місяців тому +3

      They don't stock them in the UK. You have to purchase them from PakAyaK in the USA like I did however I believe there are one maybe two stores in Europe that stock them but you're better off purchasing from PakAyaK themselves.

  • @piotrzielinski6249
    @piotrzielinski6249 3 місяці тому

    Do you remember what is the shipment price for them to ship it to UK form US?

    • @THE-RIVER-RAT
      @THE-RIVER-RAT  3 місяці тому

      It changes depending on where you live in the UK. However, If you put your name and address in the shopping basket on the PakAyaK site they will tell you how much it will cost.
      However depending on where you live somewhere between. £300 and £600
      I think it's all to do with which Airport they use as it shipped in by plane.
