I've seen a lot of terrible streetfighter mods to GS500s, but this one is the best one I've seen. Still classy, and you kept that front headlight- my favorite aesthetic part of the bike. Really nicely done.
Back when I redone mine, I took the rear plastics off and cut any tabs off the frame besides the rear footpegs( still had to ride my GF lol) then I put them back on, with a sharpie I marked alomg the inside right at the frame. Removed the tail again then trimmed down plastics to the line. Smoothed it all out and man it cleaned up the whole rear and FOR FREE! Stock they come down real low into the angle. I wanted the rear to be more sleek. And the headlight was busted, I bought 2 high powered "fog lights" or driving lights from the parts store, made a bracket that mounted to the stock headlight bucket then mounted up the twin headlights. Got a set of straight bars of Ebay for like 20$, along with some bar end mirriors and stubby turn signals. The stock ones look goofy AF. Lastly the tank was junk from it being wrecked so I got a tank from a later bike. Earlier ones like this had the seat go up the tank. Later models had the seat stop right at the tank like on the GSXRs. I took my stock seat, pulled the leather off the front, cut it down and shaped the foam then folded the leather back over and restapled it together. Looked just like a newer seat. All in all I spent about 150$ and the new gas tank was like 100$ lol it actually looked realy good. Too bad it was still a slow bike. Great for a starter bike or a smaller person tho. I just needed something bigger
Basicly it started with my step dad taking the bike in on a trade when I was like 15, it set in our basement and never ran. I wanted to ride it SO bad but nope.. Anyway I turn 18, get my motorcycle Licence, am prepared to pay my stepdad 1000$ for it. He sells it to his nephew instead so I don't wreck it... Right LOL. Long story short less then 6 months later he wrecked it, went and bought it off him for 500$ and then modded it. When I brought it back to show my Stepdad he literally didn't even recognize it as the same bike. To me that was a win. Definatly a good starter bike to ride and mod both. They are just so damn goofy looking stock its not that hard to improve the looks. Mine looked a lot like this one, wish I still had pics of it.
i have the same bike (1996 really) but ove always wanted to streetfighter mine !!! the only thing i cant figure out is how to succesfully chop the back end, but without ruining the lighting/wiring and the pillion seat ! please can you put a video up explaining, or write back !!! also, where is your belly pan from ??? thanks man !! SWEET bike btw !!!
hey so iv got myself a 1990 gs 500and im looking to do a similar thing to it. i have to say i loved the vid and u have def inspired me to go bigger than i was origionally gonna. :) the 500 was my first bike n now that i got a new one its just sitting there i dont wanna get rid of it but i need to make my own u no. im a 20 yr old girl with no experience so this should be fun :P be safe n awsome bike ;)
You can shorten it some & leave it open. I took a piece of fiber 3M pad and pushed it in the tube to act like a dust filter, but it will still allow pressure and an occasional drop of oil out of the hose.
Did you have to cut the rear end of the bike (As in, chopped and welded to increase the angle of the frame?? I noticed you trimmed the fairings for sure.
@Bikerstanley I ordered that from streetfightersbydesign website, They make them custom for the GS500, takes about six weeks around 150 dollars, but they are the best looking. Made in England out of fiberglass not plastic.
Thanks for the comment, I have family in Switzerland, I live in the U.S. I used matte black automotive wrap to make the frame black. You can purchase it on Ebay it's peel & stick, works really well. 502 is police code.(Megadeth reference)
I noticed for parts of the frame you just used strips of vinyl black wrap. Is this some sort of tape that sticks? What about the durability in extreme conditions like rain or heat, or a simple wash for your bike, doesn't it come right off?
I saw one yesterday and was thinking that motor would be what I need .I have a 1974 HD sx 175 and was thinking about changing the motor, I was also thinking about a modern dirt bike motor like a 450 or something. I know its a HD but feel like making something different(retro supermoto or streetfighter) . Tell me what you think.
did u have any problems with the bike considering its 500 and the exhaust was for a 250. did u have to tweek or adjust anything on the bikes carb or somethin?
Hey man, awesome bike. I just picked up a 2008 myself. Do you have a parts list someplace? I'd like to see what headlight/handlebar/handlebar mirror and exhaust you have.
I have a 2009 GS500F and want to put on a new exhaust. I really like the look of that Two Brothers you put on yours. What model is it? When I looked on the Two Brothers website it doesn't list one for the GS500. Thanks! Nice looking bike by the way!
I cut maybe 8 or so inches off the frame and some off the seat pan to match, no welding. That is the stock swingarm, I removed the chain guard and cut off the mounting brackets.
What tail light did you use? And did you just paint the frame under the seat or did you transplant something back there? Really nice looking bike. I am about to start my build in a few weeks. Ride safe.
fascinating, ive got a 2008 gs 500f and i didnt think ther was any way to modify them (properly) Great work man she is a keeper! how much did all the work cost you though?
also did you replace the rear swing arm?? and what kind is that? Great looking bike man. I've got a GS in my garage and never looked at the bike like I am now lol. no lie lol. I'm going to build this one too I guess lol.
I like the look of your bike, great job on the mod. I have a 93 and am doing a complete streetfighter mod with it. A have a few questions for you. Did you just cut the frame behind the seat mount? Are those the stock frame cover fairings just cut down?
Yes the new style 250 Ninja. It sounds great, plus the can gives you three options for mild, loud, or loudest(racing) Check my other video for a sound sample.
I rejetted the carbs/shimmed needles etc., so it took a bit of trial & error. Any type exhaust will affect carb performance somewhat, but everyone says it sounds great & it runs like a scalded weasel..
Greetings from the netherlands! i own a stock suzuki gs 500 E slingshot by. 89 But your bike is looking really cool!! Is it possible too find some tips on the internet to build something like that you have? THX and roll on...
Hard to say for sure, most of it is just my time. I used second hand parts etc. So not counting the price of the bike I probably spent around $500. Notice I used a waste basket for the black mesh on the chin spoiler and the tail light.
It's not shown on the website, but you can contact David Cork and he will give you the details. It's a great quality product ( fiberglass not plastic ) streetfighters by design dotcom
@pfriday2001 That is the tail light from a Kawasaki Z750, I just painted the rear part of the frame so it wouldn't rust since I cut on it. I left enough of the plastic fender to bolt the tag right onto. I went up to a 17T front sprocket (Bandit or Katana sprocket)
Not sure of the brand. Look on Ebay for the ones with NO screws on the back of the mirror. The ones with screws holding the stem to the back of the mirror are inferior.
this video had great potential but it was ruined for me by the completed bike being shown every few slides i like to see the first version and watch it slowly broken down and rebuilt back into what the finished product is. I dont want too see the finished product while i am trying to establish what is happening it ruined the video
Suzuki just missed the boat these days. This is precisely what Harley would do if they had a GS. Blacken it out, add flare and custom accessories. And then call it "Iron 500e". Haha. Ryca did wonders with their Suzuki Savage S40 as well. So much creativity by customers and yet designers aren't listening...
False....seat risers do not make a fighter. Also these bikes came factory with no fairings. Fighter only has to be nekkid and modified to the owners tastes. Stret fighter`s are a lifestyle, mentality and willingness to get balls deep with your own personal touches. has nothing to do with whether or not you have seat risers.
I've seen a lot of terrible streetfighter mods to GS500s, but this one is the best one I've seen. Still classy, and you kept that front headlight- my favorite aesthetic part of the bike. Really nicely done.
It looks freakin' awesome! Best looking GS500 I've ever seen. Great job.

That is an absolutely beautiful gs500. Fantastic work! Will have to turn mine into a streetfighter one day.
i have the same bike (1996 really) but ove always wanted to streetfighter mine !!! the only thing i cant figure out is how to succesfully chop the back end, but without ruining the lighting/wiring and the pillion seat ! please can you put a video up explaining, or write back !!! also, where is your belly pan from ??? thanks man !! Mee to want to know that
hey so iv got myself a 1990 gs 500and im looking to do a similar thing to it. i have to say i loved the vid and u have def inspired me to go bigger than i was origionally gonna. :) the 500 was my first bike n now that i got a new one its just sitting there i dont wanna get rid of it but i need to make my own u no. im a 20 yr old girl with no experience so this should be fun :P be safe n awsome bike ;)
Hey man, your GS500 was very mad. I have a 2007, put a lot of neon led in it. Congratulations for the custom work.
You can shorten it some & leave it open. I took a piece of fiber 3M pad and pushed it in the tube to act like a dust filter, but it will still allow pressure and an occasional drop of oil out of the hose.
You should make another update video on this bike bro. A good walkaround would be very much appreciated by people who want to pursue this look!
Thanks James, I will do that soon !
Did you have to cut the rear end of the bike (As in, chopped and welded to increase the angle of the frame?? I noticed you trimmed the fairings for sure.
where did you get your belly pannel from quite interested
@Bikerstanley I ordered that from streetfightersbydesign website,
They make them custom for the GS500, takes about six weeks
around 150 dollars, but they are the best looking. Made in England
out of fiberglass not plastic.
Thanks for the comment, I have family in Switzerland, I live in the U.S.
I used matte black automotive wrap to make the frame black.
You can purchase it on Ebay it's peel & stick, works really well.
502 is police code.(Megadeth reference)
Also, where did you put your license tag and did you put a different size front drive sprocket on it?
I noticed for parts of the frame you just used strips of vinyl black wrap. Is this some sort of tape that sticks? What about the durability in extreme conditions like rain or heat, or a simple wash for your bike, doesn't it come right off?
It's the 3M vehicle decal wrap. It stays put fine.
I just bought the k&n air intake. What did you do with that hose that went to the airbox?? did you just leave it open??
I saw one yesterday and was thinking that motor would be what I need .I have a 1974 HD sx 175 and was thinking about changing the motor, I was also thinking about a modern dirt bike motor like a 450 or something. I know its a HD but feel like making something different(retro supermoto or streetfighter) . Tell me what you think.
What I would like to understand how was the tail converted
did u have any problems with the bike considering its 500 and the exhaust was for a 250. did u have to tweek or adjust anything on the bikes carb or somethin?
@Bikerstanley Hello. That is a Two Bros can & midpipe from a Ninja 250. I cut
off the stock muffler and used a coupler to allow it to slip on.
@stoppedfor502 Did you do any carb tuning, or did it run fine like that?
How did you shorten the body parts under your seat? Do they come pre-made, or did you cut them up yourself?
I used an angle grinder to cut the frame, as well as the exhaust and rear pegs etc.
Hey man, awesome bike. I just picked up a 2008 myself. Do you have a parts list someplace? I'd like to see what headlight/handlebar/handlebar mirror and exhaust you have.
what did you do to make the frame black? looks like tape or something
I have a 2009 GS500F and want to put on a new exhaust. I really like the look of that Two Brothers you put on yours. What model is it? When I looked on the Two Brothers website it doesn't list one for the GS500. Thanks! Nice looking bike by the way!

what kind of belly pan is that? BTW Awesome looking bike!
what kind of bar-end mirror is that? i Couldn't find one like it anywhere on amazon
That is a Two Bros exhaust designed for a Ninja 250. I got it used off Ebay.
Then a exhaust adapter from Autozone to hook it up.
I got the exhaust for $150 off Ebay.
I didn't have to remove the engine, I just cut the wrap
into proper sized strips, then it goes on like a decal.
that bottom faring where u get that? i want one for mine
Where did you get the belly pan from and what is it called ??
fascinating, ive got a 2008 gs 500f and i didnt think ther was any way to modify them (properly) Great work man she is a keeper!
how much did all the work cost you though?
also did you replace the rear swing arm?? and what kind is that? Great looking bike man. I've got a GS in my garage and never looked at the bike like I am now lol. no lie lol. I'm going to build this one too I guess lol.
Thanks for the comment, It's nice riding a bike that is different.
Thank you. what about that tailight, was there any nodding needed or just plug and play?
3 wires. I used small push on connectors, pretty simple but not a direct connect.
Id like to lower the bars on mine. Something similar to my dads 08 ZX10.Whats a good set?
Howuch was it to paint the bike and for the exhuast
Did you have to remove the engine to use that automotive wrap
I cant seem to find that air dam on the website care to give me a link to it? Would love to get one for my gs500, gives it a bit more aggresive look.
I like the look of your bike, great job on the mod. I have a 93 and am doing a complete streetfighter mod with it. A have a few questions for you. Did you just cut the frame behind the seat mount? Are those the stock frame cover fairings just cut down?
How did you make that plastic part behind the front wheel? With the garbage can mesh... The plastic pieces are from where?! You MUST tell me please!
Also is this the stock 500cc engine you kept?
Can you swap with a 600cc engine from the GSXR or not in this frame?
Daniel Scott You can get the chin fairing from streetfighters by design dot com. This frame is not interchangeable with a GSXR engine.
Hi, pretty job!
What Type of gas bag is that? Modell?
Thanks, Bye
Rapid Transit
I'm restoring a 93 and this is exactly the look on going for. where did you get the handlebars and what are they called?? nice bike!
+Tim Martin Those are the stock handlebars, I just painted them.
NICE BIKE. Where did you get the belly pan?
@IlGatto82 Thanks for the comment. It's the stock size 130/70
what tail did you use ?
How did you get that two brothers on your gs?
That is the Two Bros model for the Ninja 250. I used an exhaust adapter to allow fitment.
It's just a tail light from a Kawasaki Z750 ,I shaped some metal mesh on top of it to help it look better. Bolted directly to the frame.
Yes the new style 250 Ninja. It sounds great, plus the can gives you three options for mild, loud, or loudest(racing) Check my other video for a sound sample.
r they 2 cylinder twins?
Beautiful, great job!
Se ve genial la Gs 500 con esas modificaciones ! Lo único a mejorar es el tapizado de la silla no se ve prodigio.
where did you get the mirrors (what brand)?
I rejetted the carbs/shimmed needles etc., so it took a bit of trial & error.
Any type exhaust will affect carb performance somewhat, but everyone
says it sounds great & it runs like a scalded weasel..
Nice build. Hopefully you're still around and answering questions. :) Is that an OEM chin scoop, or aftermarket? If the latter, who makes it. Thanks.
That's a custom aftermarket from streetfightersbydesign.com The GS is still kicking!
q precio esta una suzuki gs500 streetfigther y donde puedo consegirla?? porfa espero sus respuestas
Greetings from the netherlands! i own a stock suzuki gs 500 E slingshot by. 89
But your bike is looking really cool!!
Is it possible too find some tips on the internet to build something like that you have?
THX and roll on...
@klancaster6495 Yep, Larger jets & raised the needles with shims.
A little trial & error to get it right.
Hard to say for sure, most of it is just my time. I used second hand parts etc. So not counting the price of the bike I probably spent around $500.
Notice I used a waste basket for the black mesh on the chin spoiler and the tail light.
Which are main jets and filter?
The jets are a little larger not much,I don't remember the exact size. and I use the dual K&N filter with some pantyhose stretched over it.
man great job!! wow amazed.
Is that a stock rear rim? If so what size tire is
it?
Yes it is stock - 130/70/17
Thank you for the reply. the bike shop said I can put a 140/70/17 on it but a 150 would be cutting it alittle to close.
By the way, that's the sickest gs500 I've ever seen!
It's not shown on the website, but you can contact David Cork and he will
give you the details. It's a great quality product ( fiberglass not plastic )
streetfighters by design dotcom
How much money did you spend on tuning your nice bike:)
nice bike! im trying to convert mine to one, on the cheap, but this is beyond me!
Nice man 👌🏻
@pfriday2001 That is the tail light from a Kawasaki Z750, I just painted the rear part of the frame so it wouldn't rust since I cut on it. I left enough of the plastic fender to bolt the tag right onto. I went up to a 17T front sprocket (Bandit or Katana sprocket)
Super nave el gs 500
This is amazing! I want my '99 gs500 exactly like this
That would be a cool bike to mod, maybe even a modern 2-stroke 250 racing engine,
CR250 / KX250 etc..?
GREAT job btw looks awesome
Not sure of the brand. Look on Ebay for the ones with NO screws
on the back of the mirror. The ones with screws holding the stem

It's matt black automotive vinyl wrap.
I used an exhaust adapter from Autozone.
How tall are you
how much u paid for this build?
Thanks. Maybe around $600 in parts.
Most of it done with just time & patience.
Awesome mod and awesome sound, bro ;)
I used an exhaust adapter from Autozone
@RenegadeUnicycle From Streetfightersbydesign website
song used in video, please ?
@pinkboarder07 Yes
It's from a Kawasaki Z750. They're all over Ebay for cheap.
It comes from streetfightersbydesign made in England.
seat risers, without them, not a streetfighter, just a old looking bike without fairings
the company i work for makes those muffler stickers for Two Brothers Honda,
That's my music. two45triox I call it.
usted puede encontrar GS500 por alrededor de $ 1500 - $ 2000, entonces le toca a usted para construir en una streetfighter!
What are you saying? Thats not a stock exhuast
claro pero el problema sq toy en Ecuador
Good job! ;)
streetfightersbydesign
make a drinking game out of it...take a shot every time he shows the finished product. You`ll be tanked in no time.
very very goooooooooooooooooood :D
