He was the father that was never there and you know he loved her more than anything else in his life, imo. Anthony and Sarah were unbelievably amazing together and I love watching them perform with each other.
It's one of the best tribute about their relationship I've ever seen. I completely agree with you about 7th season. That season broke my heart .. Great video!

I just finished a series rewatch and came looking for Buffy/Giles vids, and I have to say, this is the best one I've seen out there! Their dynamic is my favorite among all the characters. Their relationship is almost understated in a way but runs so deep, and Anthony Head and SMG are my favorite actors of the main cast- every time they are on screen together it feels so believable as a father/daughter dynamic. Thanks for capturing the essence of it in all of its beautiful complexity so I don't have to watch all 144 episodes over all the time!

That part of the comics was perfect. And I really loved their last hug bc I'd really been missing older Giles, and placing this in the same one with her actual dad letting her down once more just reinforced how Giles was always a real father to her.

This is so nice video for Buffy & Giles, u can really see the tandem of a father and daughter moment. The care the love and all it's all there, Giles is the one who is making Buffy feel a father figure that. Same as Buffy to Giles a daughter figure like that they are so cute together as in 😍😍😍💕💕
Season 7 was indeed odd and not so giles, but i like to think of it as a normal phase in a father/daughter relationship,with its ups and downs, not always happy moments and support to the full, sometimes they fight, have a disagreement, different perspectives, but by the end they still are close and end up forgiving and forgetting all those nasty quarrels.... I loved your video, i think i'll be watching it from now on at least once a week :)

In fact, in the classical world, you'd address a teacher as "dad"; not as "professor" or "instructor" or "teacher"; so it fits that he'd be paternal towards her, but that also means demanding certain standards from her all the while.

To me they'd be completely enviable: his adventures as a kid- it would be the break that would, quite literally, save my soul: going backwards in time to change how my life has already turned out, as it often is feared by me that thanks to my mess-ups that my end-run state-of-being is set in stone, and not one I'd ever want, but one I would've ensured by being lax in my studies in the past decades of my life.
