- oztooltalk test the behemoth of cordless rotary hammer drills, the Dewalt DCH481 SDS MAX. This 54V tool is said to be equivalent to a 5kg 1050W electric unit, which is a pretty big claim.

A comparison between the Milwaukee SDS max cordless hammer drill would be awesome.
Nice videos and reviews.
I think the sound can improve a little bit.
We had a demo at our shop over the weekend displaying de Walt one of them was this machine. I must say beside it being on the heavy side what a awesome tool.
Yep it's awesome
Just picked up a Bosch gbh 18v ec today and now feeling a bit of tool envy!
[Dwain] haha yeah, but your wallet is heavier too ;)
Thanks for all the work you put in to these comparison videos! Great job! Great reviews!
[Dwain] cheers! glad you like them.
I’m going to get their new version of SDS Max drill coming out in June which delivers 13.3 Jules!
9AH batteries probably only offer around 20 minutes of chiselling time, I have two of them and two chargers and two Sixers in reserve. I used the drill today and yesterday to widen a dry riser cavity so the electricans could run their tray up the riser. It took out a good inch of hardened slab face on two batteries, surface area about two feet by three feet and 1 inch deep.
Vital tool for me, any other tool would have been too heavy or long to use at the top of a ladder in confined space with limited wiggle room.
Power is civilized too which is important, you don't want to get stuff blowing off the surface at close range back into your face.
It's just ideal tool.
I own this drill. It really really works. Only drill I ever used that outperformed it wasn't really a drill, it was a HIlti T-100.
Trust me, the DeWalt 54v SDS Max works.
[Dwain] Ha, yeah the T-100 is a different beast. This cordless SDS-Max really is something else though ....
Now that's a great tool from dewalt !
It's a nice tool but the makita corded 6kg hammer delivers almost twice the joules at 1100w.
Beast of a machine. Great video.
+Anthony DiDonato thanks! It sure is....
Keen to see the 40mm bit if its rated that high. Doing the garden, amy recommedations on where to get sleepers then?
Hi Ben, Dwain filmed at my Sleeper manufacturing facility. Sunset Sleepers in Officer, Victoria.
+Ben Burgs exactly ^^. Sunset sleepers are great!
Any review on dch775?
Nearly double impact joules than the milwaukee m28 this dewalt blows it out of the water. Until milwaukee up there volts then dewalt is the clear champion
[Dwain] but Milwaukee do have an M18 SDS-Max with similar specs!
Just so you're aware, there are actually three models in the SDS plus range; 323, 333 and 343. I have the 323 which punches at 2.8 joules which is plenty. The other two are slightly higher at 3.5 joules. Which model do you think you'll use in the upcoming high voltage shootout?
Great vids.
I don't think we have the 323 in Aus, so probably the 333 and/or this one
Oz Tool Talk , they're all good machines. I also have an M28 sds from Milwaukee, very nice machine, but at 4.1 joules it has a habit of breaking the shafts of chisel bits. Any idea what the line up will be for the shootout?
have you sussed out the mitre saw 12" fantastic tool, fkexvolt is 5 steps ahead of other cordless tools
+wally willis I've tried it, but haven't received it to do a proper review. It looked fantastic
Oz Tool Talk you're going to love it
awesome tool but to expensive for private use .here in europe a kit with 2x9AH and charger is 1000Euro. thanks for the great video!
+De Walter definitely for trade / commercial use!
But...you have named yourself after them...a fanboy? Or a "DeWalter Mitty" character lol.
And yeah i agree about the price...more than 500 quid as a bare tool in the UK.
animal79thecat yup i like Dewalt tools but thats not a reason for me to say all other brands are crap i have also tools of Bosch,Makita AEG etc
After the bit you using the thing, the audio is WAY low in volume. Cant hear it really well even if i turn my headphones to max.
Really? It sounds normal on my pc and phone....
aessu might be because the talking bits are in mono and left channel only.
Why doesn't this drill come with a Bit Stop"
Yes I wondered the same. Maybe people don't use them much with SDS Max units?
Good effort man. Working for bloody free heh....twice!😂
+Tin Man haha, not really! Just causing mess for them!
Why don’t you speak about the UTC - system on the Tool?
[Dwain] What are you referring to? I don't have it with me at the moment...
Esse é top
Hey does it affect the flexvolt batteries by charging them on the 18v lithium
Ion chargers? I know flexvolt tools come with their own charger usually but I have a lot of dewalt 18v xr line and chargers. Also what’s the difference between this and the dch333?
[Dwain] The fast-chargers that come with flexvolt kits ARE 18V chargers. Flexvolt batteries are 18V batteries until they are connected to a 54V tool. So any lithium-ion charger on any lithium-ion battery is fine.
watch our SDS comparison to see the differences from the DCH333! :)
Oz Tool Talk, is dch481 54v the same as dch481 60v?
[Dwain] yeah mate, same tool, different sticker.
When they can make electric cord for 1 battery tools no one will buy 220v machines. It is better to have both options.
Do you think it can drive a ground rod
tea2631 I don’t se why not. It’s a beast. (Your talking warring rod yes?)
12ah battery.
Sds max are too fat's of bit's ! Sds plus driver's are better ! Because have many kind of works to be done with!!! ( wooden, metals, and wall 's )
I really hope that you cleaned all the mess you did.. Other wise your such a bad character:)
