Great video. Your story really resonates with me. My partner and I also made the decision to live off grid during covid and also left well paid jobs in our early 50s. We're now off grid in France. We're far from wealthy - just about coping in fact, but have never been happier and as we improve our self sufficiency, our bills reduce. There is something about striving to meet ones primary needs (food, water, shelter) that mines something deep in our psyche.
This is so good to hear. I feel this is the best decision we ever made, but don't personally know other people doing the same thing so it good to hear from other people out there living a similar life. Enjoy it
I chose a great episode for my comeback. Really enjoyed your “philosophical meanderings” and it’s all super logical. Really enjoyed it mate. Super awesome content.
Thanks Liam and thanks for the support. I am sort of obsessed by the topic of happiness, so if anyone is prepared to listen to my half baked rambling on the subject then I am, well, happy.
Hit the nail on the head with this one . We moved to the forest few years ago and my thoughts and thinking has never been clearer being away for the soup aka ( citys ) . We are spost to be grounded in nature it naturally heals us .
Strange isn't it. I felt like cities were the place to be until we left. Now I cant imagine living there. Living in a forest must be awesome - bet the bird life is incredible
thank you for this vlog. i get what you are saying, it makes absolute sense. was nice to hear and think and done in a calm way whilst you were working, i hope you are both happy.
Your recent blueberries video lead me here. Really enjoying your content and listening to your story! What a beautiful part of the world you live in. I look forward to seeing all your progress:) Cal, UK
What an awesome transition from 'locked inside' to 'freedom outside'. Life is way too short and you've had that where you realise we are all just chasing that carrot on a stick and it is all just shite
Yeah totally. Partly it's an age thing, Ive already lived a good chunk of my life amd I want what remains to go in a way that I choose. Thanks for commenting, its good to hear from people watching
well that didn't go to screen the way i wanted it to....... it was meant to read ...and you've had that 'forehead smacking moment' where you realise etc..... congratulations to you both.
Thanks, yes we were lucky to find this place. Yes, unfortunately land is expensive in NZ, especially when you consider how low the population is and the amount of available space.

That made a lot of sense, which part of this beautiful country are you in?
Thanks for that - I had my doubts, so I am glad you got it. We are on the north island up on the west coast.
What a beautiful spot! It looks stunning 🌞
Just curious, is land expensive in NZ?
