No that's not what they were doing. They were trying to get his hands loose for cuffing but the suspect resisted vigorously and kept his hands and arms beneath him. Officers are trained to use whatever increasing force is necessary to effect the arrest. I think they should just stand on his head until his hands are free.

I was driving down Lomita and Western (right down the street from this crash). Once I saw the helicopters I knew something was up. Always have your windows up and doors locked. You can very easily lose your car and even your life in these situations. I learned this lesson back in the beginning of the 92 LA Riots when looters were pulling people out of their cars and beating them within inches of their life on Florence and Normandie.
It didn't matter about the door being locked in 92 though they were smashing in the windows too.

To say he has no regard for human life would be true of someone who ran through the school children or ran over the person in the wheelchair. That's not what happened. I think a lot of these announcers just say whatever is the most sensationalistic to keep their viewers watching.

That Reserva LAPD Officer that is assisting with the play by play is full of something. No Officer puts a suspect in the back of their patrol car unless they were completely checked for weapons. I graduated from a California POST Academy and trained that you never, I mean NEVER put a suspect in your vehicle until he/she is thoroughly searched.
They fully checked him and rubbed him down and even hog tied him

When he was stopping they were shooting at him from the helicopter right through the windshield.3 different times you can see shots fired into the truck and the bullet holes in the windshield.I have never seen a pursuit where they literally were shooting at the driver to kill him.
Me neither. But I was aware of the shots when he stopped, I didn’t know if he was shooting or what. But, least once, or maybe twice, you could clearly see shots coming from his truck.

At 39:28 it looks like he was shot by someone in a helicopter or something because he started driving erratically after that and you can see the bullet go through the top of the car.

Ya know I think it’s one thing to shoot at the cops which is bad. But he drew the line by not harming the kids. Committing crimes with kids involved can get an inmate badly hurt or killed in prison. He would basically become a target in prison.
