Wow, what a rare find Gary , it sounds fabulous with those P90's, loving the demo piece too. Another outstanding presentation. That'll be hard to let go I'm sure. Have a good weekend see you soon.
Hi Bob and thanks :-) TBH I'd probably be more inclined to keep it if it was beaten up! This one belongs in a museum or collector's space. Cheers, Gary :-)
HI Gary, What a Find Mate! It's Beautiful! And Rare! I love the Guitar. And The Two P90's. What a Visionary Ted McCarty was! A Futuristic Guitar Designer. Well Ahead of his Time. I'm Fortunate to Own a Gibson Twin Pickup Mahogany/Walnut Neck Firebird Guitar 🎸. Fitted with a Vintage Maestro Vibrola. But I Adore Your Find this Week Mate. It's Gorgeous. Well Done 👏👏. Enjoy The Bank Holiday. Rgds Mick!🎸
Hi Mick and thanks :-) It's not often I hear anyone say that about Ted but you're absolutely right! Ah yes, the Firebird is a neck-through construction - fabulous......and fabulously expensive! It's a lovely thing Mick but I'm afraid to pick it up hahahahahaha. Crikey, I'd forgotten it was Bank Holiday. Dear oh dear! Cheers, Gary :-)
Hi Gordon :-) They're truly lovely to play. I'd like to have a go on one of the Standard issues although they'll no doubt be a bit heavier due to the mahogany body and extra weight from the additional hardware. Cheers, Gary :-)
Hi Gary, what a fantastic instrument. I love everything about this one. Ted McCarty must have been the Jules Verne of guitars with a different vision of the future to most folks. To me there's nothing that says designed in 1957 with this one. If I ever got to have a strum on one of these it would feel like a privilege with so few being out there.
Hi Rod :-) When the Explorer, Flying V and the Firebird came out in 1957 the public must've thought the Martians had landed. So what better thing to do than buy all three and put them in the back of your Citroen DS1500 hahahahaha. Cheers, Gary :-)
This guitar looks like something Gibson just threw out there to see if "anything goes" so to speak... pure horror. But sounds really good in the right hands, as we all can testify. Well played, sir.
Hi Ville and thanks :-) Yes, I feel as though this was the 'Pilot' toes if there was any take-up before they put the Standard version into mainstream production. I admire Gibson's bravery with guitars like this and it's certainly divided opinion! Cheers, Gary :-)
Hahahahaha, thanks Andy :-) I'd love to know how many hit the UK's shores but with only 318 worldwide I'll guess it's not so many so you should be ok! Cheers, Gary :-)
Hi David and thanks :-) It's a breeze to play. The action is nice and low and it's significantly lighter than a Les Paul. Hats off to Gibson for this one! Cheers, Gary :-)
Wow - hi Leeder :-) Never seen one of these before so I've just Googled it now. I wonder if a Tokai designer had seen Ted McCarty's design from 1957. Aghhhh, I need to get one of those now! Thanks a million, it's greatly appreciated. Cheers, Gary :-)
Hahahahahaha, hi Mr Box :-) Well this one has certainly divided opinion and, like you say, the first taste of anything is through the eye. Cheers, Gary :-)
I really like the shape of the guitar. I hope it has transparent amber body, black head, caramel on the back and roasted bolt-on neck and satin finish. how great if Amazon sells it for 250 bucks.
It doesn't look that bad the more you look it. I think it would look much cooler with some burst or something. Also i would prefer the LP type headstock
Hi Tom :-) We know this design was from 1957 but it can't have been a great big secret because there's half a dozen makes from the 70's that used this tulip shape, too. Teisco, Ibanez and a few others made similar shaped guitars. There's only one Gibson Custom Shop though :-) Cheers, Gary :-)
Hahahahaha, hi Blueberry :-) This one has really divided opinion. Maybe it's the £4400 price tag or looks that only a mother could love but when you're stood behind it in a playing position it's a very nice place to be. This is the first 'proper' custom shop Gibson I've played and I now can see what all the fuss is about! Cheers, Gary :-)
No offense intended; you play beautifully, and the guitar sounds amazing- but that's the ugliest guitar I've ever laid eyes on. It sounds incredible though, can't deny that- but the fact that I've only seen maybe 2-3 of these, ever- and it sounds that good- proves ppl do care what their guitar looks like- far more than they want to admit. It looks really thin- is it light weight? Looks like it would be- which is something that matters more and more to me. Just turned 52 and I have back issues- playing a heavy guitar kills me now. I can't afford a Gibson though- especially not some limited edition whatever. Nice guitar though- congrats- I'm sure it's a great investment.
Hi Stoney and thanks :-) I have been told it's a guitar that only a mother could love! It weighs about the same as a packet of crisps and I always advise people to buy a guitar they like the look of over anything else. The first taste of anything is through the eye. Cheers, Gary :-)
Hi Richard :-) This guitar has really divided opinion. Some love it and some think it should win the title of Ugliest Gibson Ever but I think the Gibson Corvus keeps that title and if you've never seen a Gibson Corvus, just Google it and you'll know what I mean! Cheers, Gary :-)
Stylish host presents a stylish guitar.
Alder body!! About time.
Love these rare birds. Thanks for the look round.
Cheers!
Hi Mr Whitesnake and thanks :-) Yes, it's nice to see something that isn't run of the mill! See you soon :-) Cheers, Gary :-)

Nice! The neck position P90 is such a great sound.

Hi Gordon :-) I'd like to try the Theodore Standard as a comparison and see how the humbuckers stack up against the P90's. Cheers, Gary :-)
Wow, Digging that new hair style Gary!
Suits you sir!
Superb instrument this one, screams of class, as usual
You don't compromise on quality pal.👏👏👏👏
Hi David and thanks :-) You're absolutely spot on here - it oozes quality but I'm afraid to touch it hahahahahahaha. Cheers, Gary :-)

106 of each finish, great guitars.
Hi Joey :-) They certainly divide opinion. The true Marmite of guitars! Cheers, Gary :-)
Sound killer dude…Great pickups, nice playing too
Hi Mr Smith and thanks :-) I think this s the first 'proper' Custom Shop Gibson I've played and it was really impressive. Cheers, Gary :-)

Hi Gary, that`s a really unusual model, sounds amazing, I need to stay out of Frailiers for a while just in case he`s got one 😄👍
Hahahahaha, thanks Andy :-) I'd love to know how many hit the UK's shores but with only 318 worldwide I'll guess it's not so many so you should be ok! Cheers, Gary :-)
Hi Andy :-) Happily, there aren't many around so you should be ok! I'd like to know how many came into the UK though. Cheers, Gary :-)
well that's a rare one a very different sound and very fine playing

Good to see Gibsons take on the Tokai talbo.
Sounds nice though.

It doesn't look that bad the more you look it. I think it would look much cooler with some burst or something. Also i would prefer the LP type headstock
Hi Biohazard :-) They also did these in black or red. I like the natural finish best. Awesome to play! Cheers, Gary :-)
I kinda dig the shape of it.

Shape is similar to a teisco tulip style guitar,
Blimey, never seen one of those before - thanks :-)
Noooo way i would spend money on that

You’ve cut your hair!!
Hi Keith :-) Yes, a haircut indeed......to go with the new face cut! Cheers, Gary :-)
My vote for most embarrassing guitar Gibson has ever made.
Hi King Cormack :-) This one certainly divides opinion but I think the Corvus has the edge on the 'Ugliest Gibson Ever' competition! Cheers,Gary :-)
You need to look deeper. They've made some real disappointments.

Almost 4 grand for an ugly guitar with a knot on the front 😂
