I have nothing against the R6 and in fact I have always wanted it, especially the one we all know from the one produced between 06-14. Its movable intake cones in the air box are something ingenious. What makes me hate it is the price people put it up for sale. There are used R6s with 30,000 km at R1 model prices from 16 to today. And this is extremely wrong because it is a very simple bike created for corners on the track with zero electronics.
I rode my buddy’s 2020 R6 about a month or two ago, after riding on a naked beginner bike for the previous year. While I did find it kind of uncomfortable, it changed my whole perception of motorcycling and I fell in love with it. The only reason I don’t see myself ever getting on an R6 is simply because the market is hella inflated and you can’t find one with less than 20k miles on it for less than $10k, going as far back as the 2006 model year.
I just bought one, just gonna say you are 💯 right it was a pain to ride it back for more than an hour. Damn gorgeous though but I’ll need to get something else for street riding.
I didn't enjoy the 2013 R6 I rode which was a shame because it was a dream bike for me. I honestly felt my 05 600rr was better in every way. The 600rr was the smallest bit quicker too even after switching bikes during the races.
Older CBR's are just the tits. I ride a 2003 model daily. Below 7-8k RPM they feel like regular meant to be streetbikes. They are comfortable enough that you can feel relaxed on them when riding at slower speeds and just powerful enough to get away from traffic or dangerous situations. Once you are in 1st or 2nd getting on the highway and it hits that 7k-8k+ that thing just flies man. At 200km/h that thing is so stable that I don't even feel the need for a stabilizer. Hondas are just build different...
my brother's friend had 2 R6s, and he moved to a 2009 cbr1000rr. He said by far, R6 is the most fking uncomfortable bike ever if you are not going to the twisties with it where you keep moving your body around.
I owned a 2007 r6 and without doubt the most hardened road bike there is I say an hr riding and you need to get off knees and wrists cooked.the zx6 however is way more forgiving 😉out of the 2 the zx6 ninja trust me 😉

I’ve always wanted an r6 but the cam chain tensioner and the Yamaha tick drives me crazy.

I found plenty 08-16’s for under 7 grand with low miles & 20k miles is like 25% broken in lmao

All you literally need to do is get rearsets, a gel seat and more comfortable but not compromising clip ons lol

I think rider height is also a factor. My 2005 R6 is comfortable to me, but I know the 2006+ has more aggressive ergonomics.
Having a 2008 r6, I don't nessacarily disagree. I still love it, but you're not wrong. Especially with a saddleman seat adding about 1-1.5 inches.

R6 is not the best bike for street riding. They don't fare well in traffic, tend to overheat and many of them get engine knocks because of that.

What year ZX6? The ones I've ridden have been fairly comfortable.
