Thank you so much for making this video! I appreciate how thorough you are, by telling us the types of tools that you use, the proper way to use them and the things to watch out for, like breaking the aluminum bolts on the thermostat housing. I feel pretty comfortable now that I can do this job on my own with great results!
Peter you are a genius on all the videos that I have managed to download I now understand a toyota engine better than visiting the mechanic shops. Keep up the good by sharing with us valuable information. Cheers Farai
Hi Peter, i watched your previous video how to see if the thermostat was broken, and now this video how to replace it. Both of the videos were very helpful, and I especially like your calm and careful explanations, so that even I can understand what is going on! Thank you!
I sincerely appreciate your precision and explanation as you go through the process. Awesome!!! And will continue to utilize your video's as needed sir. Thanks again and have a great day!
Peter very good job. Extremely through and helpful. So I'm an ESL teacher and so in the future you'll know that the item you called a bolt is actually a NUT, which usually goes onto a bolt. :)
excelent video on how to attack this job. Well done my friend! I have the exact same engine and this video shows really well what to expect including each step's detail (ie the aluminium bolts). What would be very interesting Peter is the explain how the entire heating/cooling system works. what also would really help is to explain how to eliminate the problem so that the thermostat ends as being the issue: my guess is that measuring temperature difference between the engine head and the radiator could be very well and simple indicator that the thermostat is gone. Note that is weird that the temp gage on the panel indicates normal temp and sudenly it takes of when the water temp becomes very very high.
Hi, thanks for the guide, appreciated it very much. Just wish to point out the bolts you refer to at 9.58 -10.00 are nuts and they certainly aren't aluminium, they are metallic. You can check this by using a magnet, the nuts are attracted to it. Only item of concern would be the studs the nuts screw onto, so do not cross thread or over tighten as once damaged they would be a pain to replace. Thanks again.
Thank you for the video it was helpful. I like the way you describe the level of difficulty! My difficulty scale only goes to 3 and all the jobs on my car are #3 the middle finger thank you
Thanks for explaining this. I attempted to do this job yesterday and I tightened the bold and it broke off now i have to remove the tiny bit remaining.
Hi Peter,Thank you for posting all these videos! Forgive me if you covered these questions but my computer has no volume at the moment. What was the torque on the housing nuts? There is no other gasket that seals other than the one on the thermostat itself? What sensor is connected to the housing? Is that the coolant temp sensor or something else? Thanks again!!
Thanks to my favorite Corolla mechanic. I am thinking to replace because I keep getting error P0128. Temp never seems out of range, but it does take long to warm up. If I make sure and really warm it up fully, CEL doesn't come on. I figure it's thermostat or sensor. What do you think? I appreciate seeing how easily I can do either, even as a level three (middle finger) job..:)
Hey Peter! Long time fan! cYou have helped me fix my Toyota corolla 1991 for about 4 years now, I BROKE ONE OF THE BOLT SCREWS that is connected to the thermostat housing. can these be replaced somehow or do I have to buy the full part ?
@daviddiaz2082 Hey bro, same thing just happened to me today, I didn’t want to tighten it to much so I didn’t, but then it was still leaking so I went to tighten them some more and stripped it. Any idea on how you replaced it or how much it cost thanks man.
Hi Peter. I replaced temp valve and both temp sensor and fan switch and engine is getting very warm or hot while temp gauge on dash is normal half way. Any suggestions? What should the temp of the ie coolant hose and engine valve cover be when testing the temp with ie a laser temp meter? What are the typical temp of the essential engine parts be?
Hi Peter I want to ask you a question. Corolla ae101 1.6 XLİ model which cooling hose inlet an outlet can you explain ? About inlet and outlet housing ? Up exıt outlet ?
Hi, My name is Peter Szaszak and I have got a Toyota corolla from 1995. I have got a problem with the thermostat. I bought a new one and When i tried to change it the bolt head had been broken. Could you fix it and replace the thermostat? Best regards.
Hello. I was changing my thermostat but when i wanted to fasten these nuts, one of studs broke. How can i get the remaining piece out? Is it screwed in or is it pressed in?
Laughed at the level of task explanation :) The whole video was great and very easy to follow thank you!

Do you need a gasket for the housing that you scraped with a knife? And do you need gasket sealer?

Hi, i need help.
I have split the screw that goes with the aluminum nut, what can I do? What is the method to put the two pieces back together?
Hi, you can rotate the bolt with torx socket
do you drain the radtior before u changed the thermostat
Yes
So silicon gasket is not necessary?
If my heat goes up when idling but goes down while driving, does that mean it's time to change it?
Maybe radiator is bad
@@PeterFinnTheCarDoctor should I flush the radiator or just get a new one?
hirveen kuulosta tuo ralli englanti
OK. 👍 Thanks for the comment.
I'm struggling with that cable bit with the air box. Those clips. Don't know how to open.
Use tongs and pliers
is coolant pure no water mix?
Yes, it is
