  • ELVIS BY THE PRESLEYS, a new entertainment special that will feature a collection of new, intimate interviews with his former wife, Priscilla Beaulieu Presley, and their daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, includes exclusive, never-before-seen television performances, photographs from the Presley Estate archives and Presley family home movies.
    In the special, Priscilla and Lisa Marie speak with unguarded candor about their lives with the legendary Elvis Presley and offer an intimate look at their family and private life. Rare interviews with Elvis's first cousin, Patsy Presley Geranen, and Priscilla's parents, Ann and Paul Beaulieu, are also featured.
    Vintage, never-before-seen performance footage will be interwoven with photographs from the Presley Estate archives and press coverage of Elvis over the years. Private home movies of the Presley family illustrate and illuminate his story with vivid detail, honest insight and great warmth. Different aspects of Elvis's life, including his tours, his time in Hollywood and his home life, are depicted with the insight that only his family can bring. His career ups and downs, his kindness and generosity and his human frailties are all brought to light as well as a reflection on his place in entertainment history and his enduring legacy.
    The King of Rock and Roll would have turned 70 in 2005, the same year Elvis by the Presleys was released. An impressive number, but it's a pea in the ocean compared to the amount of posthumous products bearing his name; and the really amazing part is that some of them actually manage to shed new light on this much-studied icon. Assuming one has the time, stamina, and interest to wade through the enormous amount of material presented on Elvis by the Presleys, this ambitious, well-made documentary-reminiscence certainly falls into that category.
    The presence and participation of Presley's ex-wife, Priscilla, and daughter Lisa Marie, as well as Priscilla's parents and sister, Elvis' first cousin, and "Memphis Mafia" member Jerry Schilling, lend an air of authenticity to the project. There isn't a lot here about Elvis' music, although the interpolation of many clips from his TV appearances, movies, concert performances, and recordings more than adequately convey the singer's ineffable (and apparently eternal) appeal. Elvis by the Presleys is more specifically designed to provide an inside look at the day-to-day life of Presley, his family, and those in his immediate orbit, and on that level it succeeds rather well.
    There is a lot of talk here--nearly four and half hours' worth (including bonus material), spread out over two discs. Some of the territory covered is yawn-inducingly familiar: Elvis was well-mannered but moody, he was exceedingly generous, he loved Christmas, he appreciated his fans, and on and on. But there are more surprising (at least to the casual fan) revelations as well: Presley was an accomplished horseman; he was not only a good Christian but a voracious reader with an interest in spiritual as well as purely religious matters (he even joined the Self-Realization Fellowship in Los Angeles); and he suffered mightily from insomnia. Moreover, while this is a loving tribute, it's not hagiography. Priscilla makes it clear that she and everyone else around Elvis were expected to surrender their own lives to suit his needs and whims, a demand she eventually found unendurable. Nor do they gloss over Elvis' final years, when he was fat, drug-ridden, and disillusioned. Little matter that Elvis Presley is dead. Long live the King! --Sam Graham

      Jerry Schilling what a great man!!!! So, glad he is still there for Priscilla. . . She gets way too much criticism from others!!!! Elvis always loved her . . . some people forget this and that both Elvis and Priscilla grew as people with life experiences. I believe there was a good chance of them getting back together as touring, etc settled down in a few years if he had lived! It is reported Elvis had told Priscilla “When you are 40 and I am 50 . . . we will be together.” Sad that Elvis’s years of life were cut short!!!!

    For someone that left Elvis so long ago for so many reasons, one of them being she wanted to “see the world” why is it that the only thing she could ever be recognized for was, her years later after Elvis’s life, all she makes the public eye for for the few years she was married to him, especially since Lisa Marie died. Sad that this is the only times in her life she is recognized.

      She used Elvis‘s money and gave it to her boyfriend to build a business out of it. Elvis was broke because of her and the Colonel. Also, Jerry and Priscilla had an affair, they both slept together and had smth going on. Priscilla also was thinking about other men while being on her honeymoon with Elvis. She wasn’t in love with Elvis, she just loved him for being a celebrity.

    This was sweet. I really enjoyed listening to the two of you reminisce. I think anyone who visits California go to all the places you went upon arriving. I loved the entire state of California. I was 19 in 1985 when I first visited. Priscilla you're a beautiful woman inside and out and you really did a wonderful thing for Graceland and I pray your grand children understand your intentions were always to look out for the integrity of the estate and her family. Remember those of you with negative opinions, there would not have been a Graceland if it weren't for her. I pray others respect her privacy and leave their opinions to themselves. God bless you Priscilla and Elvis great and loyal relative. 🙏 ❤long live the king. He was truly the best human being with the greatest style, heart, passion, compassion, love for his fans, talent, humor, generosity, and southern gentleman charm. We love you both. ❤godspeed. Elvis would be so proud of you both for honoring his legacy and estate. ❤❤❤❤

Millions of appearances for Elvis, she gave birth to his kid and carried on his legacy. Get over your jealousy as if you’d have done it any different if you were in her shoes. • @Lisa-hc3uq
      @Lisa-hc3uq Рік тому +7

      I personally believe she has an unhealthy obsession with Elvis.
      It's far beyond love.
      Sure we all have fond memories of our first loves, but hers is just strange. It's too much.
      It's been almost 46 since he passed..50 since their divorce, she went her way and he went his.
      They both had relationships, he did and so didn't she, including a son. Their divorce stated that Elvis wanted her to change her last name back to her maiden name.
      He stated in the divorce that he didn't want her to profit from the Presley name. She changed it back to her maiden name, then changed it back to Presley.
      I'm wondering when she did that, was it after Elvis passed away?
      Presently, she comes across as still being married to him..her recent legal matters and involvement with Graceland is questionable because she's not a blood relative and going against Lisa Marie's and Elvis's wishes. Elvis left Graceland to Lisa Marie not to her. He had reasons for that which she ignores.
      She's overstepping her boundaries in many ways.

    • @MrTbraida23
      @MrTbraida23 Рік тому +3

      Lisa, I agree with some of your response. There is no doubt the Presley name has been good for her career and bank account. But keep in mind LMP was 9 when Elvis died and 12 when Vernon & Grandma died. Cilla was the driving force behind making Graceland a memorial for Elvis fans, for keeping his name alive and relevant all these years, and for a source of income for her minor child (and therefore her). It’s that moral dilemma - was she altruistic and doing a good deed because of her love for Elvis, or was it purely a capitalistic venture. We all have our feelings on it, but only she knows.

    See her attitude on Tiger man, really? She caught herself and was being smooth about how she criticized the song, but her initial reaction with her verbal "uh" and almost eye roll says a lot. I don't hate Priscilla like I once did, but I still have a lot thoughts that aren't all Elvis' fault like is the story from her side. Elvis did no right, and she did no.wrong. I think she had certain ideas from the onset, and she wasn't going to lose getting what she wanted, so good for her I guess, she got the cake, and ate it too. Jerry, I like, but he might as well be a politician as he says whatever is beneficial at the moment, and is pretty under the influence of Priscilla possibly. In closing though, she was very fun to listen to from just after Tiger man on.

      dont be blinded by elvis the star he was a good man but he was very controlling of priscilla and didnt think woman had much of a say in annything he was a good giving man but kind of a nightmare to a woman that wanted to speak her mind.
      i love elvis in his music and in his searching mind and on some lv i would want to be his friend but i wonder how wel that would have worked,i am a person that likes to speak there mind a little to much for his taste most likely.
      i have a friend that at times can be controlling and when he does we do butt heads but we let it be a day later.

      @@michillene, @The veggster Good day,Try to stay with me on what I'm about to say. I was 9 when Elvis died. When in high school I hated her because I didn't know any details about their marriage and just from the outside it appeared he fell apart and slowly died after she left. The music he sang after she left told a story that I took for as a broken heart because of lost love. There was probably some truth in that but still I was off. Between then, almost 40 years ago, and now, I have read the books, seen the movies, and documentaries and have gained understanding and don't hate her like I did when young and ignorant. That said I am not letting her, or your opinion off the hook just yet. First, you give a developed thought, through reading or watching Priscilla's perspective on their relationship. Did you learn Elvis' perspective? No, because he never publicly commented much about it. So, we have to investigate circumstances, people's views, and outcomes to get an idea of his view or what he was feeling. Elvis met Priscilla at an unbelievably vulnerable and lonely time in his life. He was the biggest star in the world, and at the age of 23 he was pulled away to a foreign land to serve his country while in the army. His beloved mother died while in the army and he was adrift emotionally without her. He felt his career as a singer/actor may be over once his tour of duty was up. Several months before his tour was up, he met a very young Priscilla. He feels an instant love and connection to her. I really feel he had been struggling with wondering why God allowed him to become such a major success and then had it taken away from him(through being drafted) and then his greatest love (his mom) is ripped from him as she dies. He must have thought, what was the reason for it all, why had God given so much but taken even more away. Then when he sees Priscilla's face, he is struck by lightning, in that he believes she was God's reason he was pulled from his career and sent to a far off world. He was in love at first sight. He finds out she is too young, but still can't fight his love so instead of sneaking around he goes directly to her father and explains what has happened and that he still wants to see her, with his permission. After the talk, the father allows them to carry on their strong friendship. He then leaves Germany a few months later and he doesn't even see her again for almost 3 years. Likely because he was rebuilding his career and he was giving her time to age and then to possibly began a real relationship. A few months before she is to graduate high school in Germany she is allowed to move to Memphis and finish high school at a private Catholic school. They live together, and as is the case when people live together they learn the real people they truly are. Or, as Priscilla writes, he is training her to be his perfect mate. Sometime during this time, about a year or two after moving to Memphis, Elvis does a movie with Ann Margaret. By all accounts of people close to Elvis, he fell for her without warning, head over heels in love with Ann, as she did him. It was the most real and normal relationship he would ever have as an adult. I think Ann is the only relationship he was in that he never saw other women while with her. I even asked famed Elvis author, Alanna Nash, if he cheated on Ann ever. She said that she would like to check her notes to be positive, but she was pretty sure he never cheated on Ann. They were extremely compatible, they both were extremely close to their parents, both were raised in the church and were very spiritual. Priscilla was not that type of person and eventually became a long time member of the church of scientology who do not believe in God, unless you agree with Scientologists that God is basically L. Ron Hubbard. Priscilla learns of Elvis and Ann. Did she pack up and go back home to live with her parents. No. She had a talk to her father. Did her father tell her to drop him and come home and if Elvis cares about her let him chase you and beg for you to come back. He doesn't do that. He contacts Colonel Parker and has a long talk and explains the kind of pressure Elvis will feel if he doesn't marry his daughter. So, Colonel talks to Elvis, explains that he must dump Ann and marry Priscilla. That she has been living with him and if he doesn't marry her it will ruin his image and kill his career. He just stopped talking to Ann. But, he drags his feet for another several years in marrying Priscilla. Finally Colonel told him time was up. He either had to drop her or marry her. Several days before the wedding Elvis tells co best man, Marty Lacker, that he doesn't want to get married. Marty says not to do it. Elvis says, "they are making me do it." Anyway, they get married, have some good times, according to people around them, and bad, according mainly to Priscilla. He cheats like he always had on her. She chats too. She divorces him. They remain friends until his death 5 years after their divorce is final. In those 5 years she never wrote a book or said one thing publicly that Elvis was the horrible husband she portrays in her book she was about to write. She writes her book, and a big miniseries follows, and it is a big reason why Elvis gets a lot of the negative views he does, on how he treated her. Well, he never was able to tell his side of the story. However, she pushed the marriage. Then she uses his cheating as a big reason why he was so bad and a reason why she left him. He was cheating on her before they were married and continued after. If that was an issue she should have dumped him then instead of forcing his hand in marriage. Understand a little better. I do think Elvis loved her, but he didn't want to be married to her. Likely because he realized they weren't compatible and have much in common. Ann Margaret doesn't view Elvis as the controlling monster Priscilla does at all. Still to this day, when Ann is asked about Elvis, she gets emotional, is very protective of him, is protective of their "very real love" as she called it. So, it is odd that people can see you one way, and someone else the opposite, such as how Priscilla and Ann view Elvis.

      in severel interviews it was said several of his close friend and family and priscilla told him he needed to take better care of himself and he was a stuborn man that didnt let annyone tell him what to do,he had a great life but also tragidy in it and i do feel he died to soon but he gave the world an fantastic legacy,like other people he did allot of good and nice things but he was also very controlling of others which is not a good quality but overall i wil say he was a good man he wanted the world to be kind and equal even though ironicly he thought woman didnt have much of a say in things which isnt very equal but i gues it was stil part of the culture at the time.
      i am very interested in his life and that of his family they have a good feel about them,he was a man who did allot of reading and self education and that very good i do the same in my own way.
      i sort of have a friend like him but a little easier he is a nice friend but occasionaly he has that same controlling factor and when he does we do butt heads because it annois me when someone try's to make me do stuf i am a person who is verry much for asking something or suggesting something but i want to respect other people and let them be if they dont want to do something.
