Nice playing.
I'm currently digging my Jaguar. Yes - a Jag. Strung with 11 or 12 flatwounds the top circuit gives some great jazz tones, and the short scale makes complex chords and big leaps to approach chord tones a doddle.
And at the flick of one switch it does surf, rockabilly, rock 'n roll, spy, Spaghetti Western and other leftfield styles that sound great and are fun to play.
It isn't much of. a rock, blues or funk guitar though. But I have a Strat for that.

First off, just found your channel and am loving it. Second, for me the ideal scenario is having a tele AND something like the 575. One reason is aesthetically I do not like double cutaways, the second is that I feel the tele really shines in a solo situation or a small ensemble and a 175 type guitar really delivers the classic sound for more traditional settings. As a home player, a tele is all I really need.
Also it you get a chance definitely try a G&L ASAT with the MFDs. I think they fuse P-90 and tele pickup sounds into a new timbre that I feel really works for the vernacular. Somehow both warmer and more clear.
Thanks Jeb! I really appreciate it. Actually that was one of my first ideas. Having a Tele and a Jazz Box is all I needed but... after a while I missed the semi-hollow and have gotten the 335 because it's probably the middle ground that works for me. Although I'm digging the Tele again ;)

Tough choice! 😊 I have a telecaster but I prefer my Stratocaster for Jazz! Very unorthodox 🙈 it has Eric Johnson pickups that I installed and i like the sound. Yes, the telecaster is very different but there is something I love about my strat. I have been looking at Heritage guitars and been doubting between their H-535 or H575! A more proper jazz guitar 😅 I have had the Yamaha sa2200 in the past but never bonded with it. I have just discovered your channel and enjoying it! 👍
The Strat is also a cool option! In my opinion the best guitar in the world is the one you like the most, and that doesn't mean it has to be the most expensive. I think having an open mind to try new things will help you find your voice. And if I have to choose I'll go with the Heritage H-575. Thanks for sharing!
Awesome comparison! Glad I found your channel!!! Nothing will beat a hollow or semi-hollow jazz guitar; however, I am also s big fan of the telecaster when playing jazz! The tele neck pick-up has the warmest tone among other solid bodies! That is probably the reason why jazz greats like Julian Lage and Ted Greene used them. Tim Lerch on YT is another one who favors the tele. I am a hobbyist and beginner jazz guitarist level. I have subscribed to your channel and will explore your website as well!

Es-335 neck pickup takes the win for me, I say that as a Heritage H-575 owner. Mine is from 2005 and came with Seymour Duncan 59 humbuckers.
It's a little weird to me that the Gibson sounds better recorded than the Heritage, but our Heritage (mine also has Seymour Duncan 59 pickups) sounds better live. I guess changing those Seymour Duncan pickups for something fancier will improve the sound of the guitar a lot.

I have Suhr Alt T pro semihollow telecaster type guitar with two humbuckers and stainless steel frets...covers everything very well: from jazz to hard rock! I love it!
On the other hand I am really interested in Gibson ES 175 (ES 165) guitar for more specific jazz sound: did you try it? Cheers!
Hi, your Suhr must sound great! I have tried a Gibson ES 175 from the 80's and it was a very nice guitar but I had no connection with it. I really think something like the Heritage H-575 with all solid woods is far superior.
@@adrianmolinamusic Yes - Suhr is most versatile guitar I own. Scale lenght and alnico IV magnets make it sound very clear with nice midrange. Recently I just bought Gibson ES 165 in wine red colour, 1992. Amazing guitar with vintage vibe and chunkier neck which demands a bit more fighting with guitar. I like it so far - will see if it stays.

I do love a Tele and one CAN play Jazz on one, but one has to want to be sounding a particular, non-traditional way.

Nice video. Good comparison. I have a 335, a 175 copy and a tele. The 335 has the edge with versatility and plays better. I'm thinking of swapping out the pickups for ones better suited to jazz. I think the tele is great for jazz too. I've wanted a better hollow body jazz guitar for a long time but even my inexpensive one is great to play unamplified around tge house.

In my opinion if the guitar is well adjusted I have no preference in terms of playability but if I have to choose I'll go with the semi-hollow.

Hello bonne comparaison .j ai commenté sans voir votre commentaire de fin . gibson 335 sonne gros .plein et doux . La télé a un son plus fin et plus lumineuse . J ai un peu de mal avec l héritage Attention . Sur cette démo là .... moi j ai en tant que débutant une ibanez afs75 T .doux pour jazz et blues . Epiphone les paul 100 pas mal ausi pour jazz . Une télé knoxville gear4music plus clair aussi (pas aussi clair qu une jet télé ou fender ) donc bien pour jazz mais son plus fin que l ibanez et l epiphone qui ont micros double . Et une yamaha pacifica 112j . .. la stratocaster c est pas trop pour le jazz ...bye 😉

I have to admit that I recently sold the 335 because I fell in love with my Tele.
I get it. I also have an ES 339, and a 78 les Paul custom. They all work really well.

i don’t think any of them sounded good in the bridge position and if i had to pick one in that position it would be the 335 which sounded better. They all sounded good in the rest of the positions and it would be hard for me to pick a best. The exceptional skill of your playing attributes to them all sounding good.. of course YMMV
Thanks! The bridge pickup is tricky in a jazz context. And to be honest it's also very difficult to choose the best one for me. I love them all
