    I do the same when shopping..think on what is in your cart before purchasing. Love your haircut, very pretty. Now I'm going to scold you a bit....do not call your hands ugly! Those hands care for your family by cooking and cleaning. Those hands have held babies and hugged kids. Those hand hold your husband when he needs your support. Those hands are a blessing.😊❤

    I had long hair for years but when the kids were young I had it cut to my shoulders and several short styles. Time went on and I was tired of curling irons and all the time & money I was spending on hair and grew it out again. It was a cycle of long to short and back again. About 3 months ago I really wanted it cut but my husband really likes it long. I showed him how long it takes to wash and dry, how much of a pain it is to style in anything other than a braid. Having to pull it up before sitting down or have my neck jerked back because I sat on it again was driving me nuts. We compromised. I had 17 inches cut off but i still have 22 inches remaining. We are both happy.

      Sounds like me and my husband. Around 7 years ago I was crying and in tears about my long hair… I threatened to shave it in a moment of despair and he said he would help me- only because he saw how distressed I was (with small kids and all the hair care.) Eventually I cut it and that’s when I started my YT channel with shorter hair. I yo-yo with my hair and I had some wild hair days when I let my hairdresser friends do crazy looks. Hair grows back so I never feel bad about cutting it- and I donate it. 🌻🌻🌻🌻

      @RowesRising  9 місяців тому +1

      Thank you for sharing!! I think that may be the route I go. It’s $250. Do you get them every year or every so often? I’m doing castor oil breast packs now to move the congestion out- so far my lymph nodes are the same. I do get shooting pains in my left breast but I thought it was just my milk drying up over the last 10 months. 🌻🌻🌻

    • @urflow6059
      @urflow6059 9 місяців тому +1

      I started at 1x a year. Then the pain got worse and I did 2x a year. I'm only getting them 1x a year because the lady only comes to my town once a year now. I pay the same. I castor pack too, get acupuncture, lay on an acupressure mat, get a massage. My pain has gotten much better. I usually get it during those hormone shifts. Ovulation or menstruation. I haven't had it during Ovulation for a few months now so I'm hopeful. I hope that made sense, I was in a rush.

    As a hairdresser of 35 plus years, it’s actually a good thing your hairdresser was hesitant to just chop off your hair the first time you went in. After years of experience you find that when people are in the midst of a storm and they have no control over life, one of the only things they can control is their hair so they will do something drastic. More often than not they have regrets. Then sometimes they blame the hairdresser for the fact they don’t like it, even if the hairdresser tried to talk them out of it. She was protecting herself and looking out for you. If someone comes in later, requesting to do the same drastic thing I will generally go ahead and do it and I’m not surprised she did either. Once someone has the opportunity to think about it more, they are usually happy with the choice they made. But to often a rash choice brings on tears and regret. I decided years ago I would rather a client be mad I wouldn’t do something drastic than be mad I did. I have mad respect for her decision to not do it the last time.

    • @RowesRising
      @RowesRising  9 місяців тому

      Thank you for your perspective!! I totally get it and respect hairstylists looking out. My late mother, sister, and best friends in VA were/are all hair dressers and are cautious as well with long hair. My mother cried every time she cut my hair- I was never bothered. I typically get my friends to cut my hair when I visit home.
      It was my new hairstylists first time meeting me too- so I totally understand that she didn’t know where I was coming from and that I grow my hair long specifically to cut and donate. I wasn’t clear the first time, I just went in and said how much I wanted cut- she took over 6 inches but it was still waist length and that all grew back by the time I showed up again. With pictures in hand of past Katie hair styles, she understood that I was clear headed enough to go short. However, she still wouldn’t go as short as I wanted😅 I’m not a fan of 3 $65 hair cuts when she could have done it the way I asked the first time. I have donated 12+ inches of hair at least 6 times now. I also don’t dye my hair either for that reason😅 I feel like some of my hair was wasted, and money I didn’t need to spend again. That was my hang up but I’m over it and so happy with my hair now. 🌻🌻🌻🌻

      Kendra you are so kind. We are blessed and count our blessings every day. Today is emotional for us. Aaron retires today officially. It’s bitter sweet. It’s not how he imagined his career- he was such a hard worker and when his health took a turn they booted him. It hurts him- he feels like he gave all and then they tossed him without a second thought. We have our faith. Aaron is applying for jobs starting tomorrow. This channel is making ends meet. And we have savings but we are frugal because it’s our emergency funds we have been saving for years in anticipation of this day. He will collect retirement in the next 3 months. In the meantime we have everything we need and our home is warm. Thank you for always watching and being here for us. We appreciate you! 🌻🌻🌻

      Yes!! I am mostly grain and dairy free- that is how I got my numbers in range. Some weeks/months I’m more strict than others. Depends on my symptoms. I do have cheat day- for example the gf df sausage ball recipe I posted today- I did eat some of those but in moderation and I maybe have gf grains or baked goods 1x a week. Quitting my daily rice was tough but I feel so much better with less/no grains and no dairy.

    Are your lymph nodes sore as well? Or just enlarged? My son used to get swollen lymph nodes all the time for long periods of time, when his immune system was really bad. Some of the ones in his face, would get so large and painful. The whole side of his head would swell up. It was awful. Now that we’ve got his problems more under control and there’s no more swelling problems, he is left with scar tissue in or around several of them. The specialist we saw said the scar tissue most likely won’t cause additional problems and only able to get rid of it with surgery, but isn’t necessary in most cases. Perhaps you might be dealing with some scar tissue for yours as well. Just thought I’d mention it incase it helps or might give you any kind of peace of mind. Also your new haircut looks beautiful 😊

    • @RowesRising
      @RowesRising  9 місяців тому +2

      Tender yes. Not super huge but palpable and I can see the two under my left armpit they are slightly raised. With all my autoimmune and recent flares I think it’s related to a crap immune system. I’m hopefully healing my gut on this protocol and hopefully my immune system starts functioning better. Colostrum has helped loads and I haven’t had my usual recurrent throat infection in over 3 months. Knock in wood. That’s why I’m surprised they are swollen- I haven’t been sick. But I have had some inflammation and pain in my body. 🌻🌻🌻🌻

    That’s a wonderful hint on how to stay in budget. I, myself, have been known to put something back to buy another thing that is necessary or more necessary for my family’s meals and snacks. I keep a running tally of the cost of what I am purchasing on my phone calculator and if I go over I look in the cart and put back something low on the priority list. I also ask the questions such as
    “Why do I want this?”
    “Who will eat this?”
    “Is this a want or a need?”
    “Can I make instead?”
    “How many of us will enjoy this?”
    “Can this wait until next time I am grocery shopping?”
    “Which item is more important, the one I just found or the item I put in the cart out of ‘want’?”
    Thank you for this video, Katie! Great idea for coverage! ❤

    Love your new haircut! I also didn't want to do Mammograms and found out about HerScan. It's a breast ultrasound clinic that travels around the country to different locations. You pay a one time fee ($285) for the ultrasound and a radiologist sends you your results via email. I had it done due to swollen lymph nodes in my armpits (and I'm 42 so it's time to start screening). I was very pleased with them. Anyway, it's something to check into as ultrasounds are even better than Mammograms for people with dense breast tissue. My son, at age 11, was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma, so we don't play when it comes to swollen lymph nodes! Side note: you never want your lymph nodes to feel hard like marbles. They should feel rubbery and move around when you rub over them. My son had (hard) swollen lymph nodes in his neck around the collar bone and in the groin when we found out his diagnosis. He's 15 now and in remission (Praise God!) Praying you find answers and healing yourself! 🙏

      Thank you Jessica for sharing. That must be such a hard journey to go through with your son. I am familiar with HerScan now. We also have a thermography clinic about 1.5 hours away. I’m getting counseling from my WHFNP and will make a decision for me.

The women’s imaging clinic where they do mammograms acted like they had no idea what I was talking about. I may travel for it if these inflamed lymph nodes and shooting pains don’t go away. I think it’s just my milk drying up? I stopped breastfeeding about 10 months ago. I appreciate your personal experience 🌻🌻🌻🌻

    I fell into the habit of putting things in my cart to think about because when I'm shopping with my kids I can't stay still for too long or they get bored and get antsy.
    I really do appreciate you sharing your journey with this big life transition. We are in the same transition as you but a little less close. He retires this summer. It's hard to believe it real. You are helping to remind me that it is real and of all the things to keep in mind and stock up. But we'll be doing more of that after we move in the spring.
    What is the soda maker thing your husband uses? My husband started getting the sparkling water and mixing it with pomegranate juice. When you mentioned your husband's drinks it made me think that might be a nice Christmas gift and will maybe/hopefully save money. I checked your Amazon storefront but it wasnt there.

      Yes stay prepped. The moving ordeal is so stressful. We are taking this next 9-12 months to sort our next move. He has some certifications to finish for his next career after which he can apply for jobs. In the meantime he’s started school and will finish his bachelors this summer. Then on to more school (masters and doctorate) through VA programs.
      Thanks for reminding me. I’ll add it to the store. It’s a soda stream and we have a subscription to get and send back the bottles. It’s been awesome for him. amzn.to/46ckuKS

      I agree- and I feel younger cause it’s less energy to upkeep. I feel so much better. It was super cumbersome and it always matted at the nape of my neck despite being worn in a braid. Daily brushing took so much out of me. The girls asked for shorter hair also and we all feel freer not having the daily maintenance of long hair.

    I cannot imagine why a hair stylist would refuse to cut your hair. It is never her decision to decide if a client wants her have her long hair cut! None of her business!

    • @RowesRising
      @RowesRising  9 місяців тому +4

      Hi Colleen!!
      That was the first time I met her and I think she was being cautious. I don’t think I explained well enough that I grow it to cut it and donate. She had a momma like me that made long hair a big deal, so she didn’t want me to regret it. She said she wouldn’t cut it short that day and told me to come back if I really wanted it done. So I waited a few months and saved my spare money so I could get it cut again. Another reason I keep it long- I’m cheap and don’t like to spend on my hair. She also tried to talk me into coloring after I told her I don’t use color because I donate my hair. Some folks only hear what they want to hear. She had long hair too.
      This last appointment I showed her pictures of all my hairstyles over the years and she obliged to cut it. I have had chin length hair multiple times. I know that I like it, but just took some convincing on her end that I was okay to cut over 12 inches off. I reckon she has had regret clients that were upset when their hair was gone. But that’s not me- my hair grows fast and I can grow it again if I choose.
      I had to explain that all my best friends, sister and my late mother were hairdressers that did crazy hair on me for practice. I had tri colored hair, rock star mullets, swing bobs, so much color in my teen years before I started donating my hair. I’ve had loads of drastic hairstyles. I’m not attached to hair. People yes, hair no.🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻
