Fun fact: Gary Oldman took a few shots before doing Rubers lines in order to be more in tune with the insanity of Rubers character. I say he succeeded with flying colors.

I always got the feeling that the creators were in love with Ruber and made the movie just for him to exist. He's so damn charismatic and entertaining and everything he does is more unique compared to everyone else in the film. Not to mention when you see some draft and drawings of the movies, almost everyone's design changes, whereas this guy remained more or less the same throughout production. For anyone interested in bad animation movies with top tier villains, watch Rock and Rule, it's got the same "issue".
Am I the only one who likes this movie despite its major flaws? You have to admit, Ruber is the best part of this movie, next to the animation and soundtrack.
I don’t like Ruber as he is so inconsistent in being chaotic and not in a good way. By the way, he was voiced by Gary Oldman who also voiced Lord Shen from Kung Fu Panda 2. Comparing both performances Ruber would look just terrible.
@@slitheri.ayrton3762 The reason I like Ruber is because he’s so sadistic as I love the way he twitches his eye 👁️. But I can understand why you don’t like him.
In fairness, the executives at WB wanted to have a fantasy musical instead of a dark fantasy movie. I love the soundtrack and animation but the story needs some tweaking.
To legitimize his rule by allow other members of immense wealth or great prowress to server under him. I mean look at it this way. Ruber is an incredible fighter and craves power. He’s a useful asset if used correctly. However in the source material for this movie ruber is neither a knight of the round table nor this insane.
Because even the romanticized version of knights are Killers at the end of the day, and say what you will about his sanity, this guy is a VERY effective killer, think about the results this guy got during the missions Arthur sent him on
I like how Kayley immediately sees her chance to attack Ruber and doesn't hesitate to bash his head in with a friggin mace. xD I don't see that often with female protagonists in animation. Usually they are captured or sometimes will attack the villain while they are fighting the hero or are being cornered and even so they usually hesitate before doing so.
@@urmom6701 Oh yes, I do understand her feelings, it's just something you don't see very often with animated heroines. ^^ Even though Ruber is really a tough warrior and she's outnumbered, she still tries to smash his head in.
As for me, Ruber is a classic lord of chaos from Warhammer: a crazy nut who rose to power only due to his charisma, aggression, cruelty and strength. Similarly, the Chaosians control a crowd of beggarly robbers, only transforming them into a fantasy version of the necrons.
Probably due to the fact that he's a bigger guy than the rest, thus making it easier for him to take out more people, definitely a person you want on your side. Although not an ethical decision, Ruber did get the job done if he became a knight. Also the possibility that maybe he was noble at one point and his sanity might have slowly degraded over the years due to wear and tear.
Maybe he was different before Arthur recruited him, maybe he was slowly corrupted by the wear and tear of knighthood over the years and the war was the final straw.
He changed, as you could see he is more insane 10 years after escaping from Camelot, he was likely more normal before. (as much evil, just more in control).
I kind of like the eye twitching. I noticed that he does more of it later in the movie. Like it's a subtle hint that he's becoming more and more unstable the longer he goes. It's a neat little quirk.
It’s interesting how animated movies has got to have the most eye luring intrigue villains!! Like I admit I find Rubert an interesting character, Puss in Boots with Jack Horner, than we got One Piece Luffy’s nemesis throughout the arc( Sir Crocodile is my fav🥰😍😚); and Batman’s too!!
Just how did this mad lad get to sit at the Round table in the first place? There's no escalation that we can see, he's just been this way, and it only became a problem now?
What’s crazy is that this entire movie is based upon nothing more than like 3 chapters in a book. It’s crazy. And not only that but ruber is completely different. In the book ruber is known as the red knight who rules over some dwarves who forge for him. He has no magical potion and does not seek Excalibur. Instead he takes over there farmstead in order to Marry the two sisters (yes there are two sisters instead of just one woman) Garret is actually two people and one of them dies. Lancelot is in the story and so is the forbidden Forrest. The protagonist is “violated” by another man Merlin helps the main character a lot Curses, as in cursing someone’s name or wishing ill upon them, have magical powers There is a mystical kingdom far away The main character, she is put in an underground dungeon and saved by one person who became Garret in this movie. If you are an adult or mature I’d suggest giving the story a read. It’s very good, kind of confusing but most certainly not appropriate for children because it is to complex and because it contains adult topics.

I have nothing against red-headed people either.
Many red headed characters have been changed into black people recently so seems some people dont like them.

why is he named condom

By the way, in this case it is true, and not as evil plans are usually called madness, Ruber shows a nervous tic and convulsions.

Mok was the most memorable part. Though the good characters ranged from ok like Angel, stretch, and Dizzy, to Omar being an insufferable dick

Why did King Arthur have a total lunatic in the Knights of the Round Table?

In Arthurian times didn't exist such things as the Geneva Conventions.

His eyebrows have a mind of their own
To create an cartoon villain, who acts overdramatically and insane, while also his voice actor is equally over the top, that's quite an achievement.
The subtle detail of Ruber's head being tiny compared to his bulky body hints that he might be using his strength more than a brain.
I found his tics and expressions so funny as a child

They took some inspiration from a Dracula here: red mask placed on a shoulder of a red armour.

I don't think so, he had too much soul to serve, grand visions and fearlessness.
