Omigod! I am over the moon about the results of this competition! Cannot put into words how psyched I am right now! Thank you so much Josh! Your work has helped make me a better film-maker and I am so grateful! Great job everyone who submitted!

You guys def earned a visit and shot of whiskey too! (If you're of age of course)
Keep writing those stories! Story is everything, it is the hardest thing to learn.
Your sound design could have been better yes, your cinematography could have been better yes, your color grading sure......
But your story was the only one that had a genuine reaction of shock and surprise. You guys got me!!
Bottle that up and sell it. Keep making that and always lean back into story when you get lost. It is the number one thing overlooked on UA-cam but it is the number one thing sought after in Hollywood. Very few and far between. So keep watching good material and feeding your brain with story rich content.

@Aidin Robbins did an awesome video based on sounddesign, - Sounds of the PNW - which you can watch with your eyes closed and still imagine the places without seeing them, just beause he put so much effort into sounddesign. The power of sound in that video is huge. In the BTS video he talks about stuff I've never even considered putting into my videos :D The kid is awesome :)

Detail that only probably Slavic speaking watchers noticed:
At video #4 one of the last scenes was mobile phone with broken screen that shows that phone is still in call with "Ljubav". Translated to English, that means Love or rather Sweetheart in this context. I think that gives to whole video even more dramatic note and bitter aftertaste of potential loss that one could suffer from such accident.

The difference between you and Someone like Peter McKinnon, Is that where he started out with a couple tricks in his bag and Learned and grew in front of us, Taught us what he learnered....Where You are an Actual Professional who was meant to not only teach, But you are changing the world by isong your god given talents to Inspire people to make art. You coming from a formal and TV backround gave you unbelieveable amounts of valuable tidbits. Where as Some learn to be like you, You are you. Anyone who truly watches your channel is blown away by your mechanical ingenuity and The fact that you dont learn a trick and then teach us....You MAKE THE TRICK THEN TEACH US. As A creator that has 2 channels with over 260k subscribers, I watch as you grow and know EXACTLY why. There is no question in my head that you will not only make it, But on the way you will inspire the new generation of creators. All of these videos blew me away and I dont know how ALL of these people are not discovered already and I could never pick a top 3. Adam Aka Marf

Yours was 100% my favourite! It felt super visceral, especially the lead up to the gunfire starting. My only critique is I would have preferred a longer stretch of silence between the gunfire/fight and the character coming in the door. Obviously you had the time limit though

Damn, that door scene was exceptionally good. No camera movement, No inheritly interesting objects at all. Just a stationary footage of a closed door. It reminded me of the works of Edgar Wright, because he uses every aspect of filmmaking when it's necessary and when it'll have an impact. He uses camera movements when it's needed, he uses sound effects when it's needed, he uses interesting objects, characters, clothes and scenery when it's needed, he uses focus and lighting to tell the story. And combines them with right amounts into a beautiful mixture.

4:32 Dialogue and monologue from old movies and recordings is very often used in electronic music. Psy Trance, Techno, Electro, a lot of artists use them and I suspect that guy likes that sort of music...
Fan fact: It started out with psy trance artists using old audio recordings from lecturers and professors talking about psychedelic substances and mystic experiences, like Timothy Leary, Terence McKenna, John Lily...but it soon progressed to old movies and TV shows.

TIP: That "strobe camera flash" sound effect that you want is easy to find (3:00). (Reply with any questions, lots of instructions to follow. Let me know if it works for you.)
Go to Walgreens, walk up to the camera dept. desk, and ask for a "USED disposable camera". Don't waste time with buying a new one. Get one that's USED and has no film left, they throw them out at this point anyway. It's free. Take the labeling/wrapping off of the case, open it up, and mess around with the gears until you get it to charge the flash. There's usually a small white gear on the side opposite the lens that's kind of hidden. If you rotate that until it stops, it should trick the mechanism into thinking you've loaded film and are ready for the next shot. Hold the small front button to charge the flash capacitor. BOOM. Instantly got half of the effect. Then add whatever clicking you want as well.

I loved this episode and who are the Swedes? Sweden won! I love it! Great or fantastic job from many or all even. What kind of setup do you have in the studio for your sound, sounds great and looks dope.

    # 4 the best 1 is good. # 4 is more realistic. The car crash with a cell phone is a daily thing here in Houston Texas USA. That's where I live. I also like the editing part as well. Black and white rocks

Hi Josh, i just finished watching your video entitled "HOW TO SHOOT LUXURY REAL ESTATE"
you recommended the Laowa 12mm with the A7iii, i was wondering if the Laowa 9mm Zero D would do virtually the same job on the Sony A6600 - reviews give the 9mm excellent sharpness and IQ above 2.8 and the full frame equivalent would be at 13.5mm?
