Great! I just bought the model now. you doing an excellent job! thank you for your tutorials, very helpful and understandable even for me which is not my mother language
Thank you so much for the inspiration I really love each of your video, I'm a student of Architecture but we are taught ArchiCAD I think you're using Google Sketchup I just don't know which software I should learn which will help me in my career whether it's ArchCAD, REVIT, 2Ds MAX, or SKETCHUP! What if the Displacement tab is not displayed? when added via attribute a caution is displayed "This is a legacy attribute that will be removed in the future. Consider using the geometry displacement modifier instead. It can be created as a geometry asset in the Outliner and can be applied to objects in the scene. Note that the displacement effect will no longer appear in the Preview Swatch."
Good day sir Minh, I just have a question. Is displacement map for that pool strongly recommended? .. Can I use bump map instead of displacement and produce an equal or similar effect? Because to use displacement map is not my top option, because my laptop is a little bit weaker 😂 I always avoid using displacement just to manage the gravity of rendering 😂 .. What do you think? Or, is that displacement using noise map for the pool easier and lighter to render compared to the displacement maps of other materials like bricks? If yes, maybe I can consider using displacement only for this time.
Lifesaver ! Appreciate the explanation of features. In the near future can we expect nighttime render with underwater pool lights. :D i can't seem to get lighting right.
Hi, I'm trying all the steps either sketchup 2018 and 2019 but, I can get the same effect with ground and displacement, I get some waves by switching on the bump and noise A, however when I shut down the shadows effects in refraction, the water turns white blue and lose transparency :(
Nice Ill have some Issue to Which we define fog color and why we did not add first at Refraction color and if is it possible make tutorial on vray-5 and what is different brute force and that things
I've always loved your style of teaching. I was hoping you could do an updated version of caustics with the new VRay 5.2 UI. For starters, there's no "Fog Multiplier" anymore. Generic materials created only have "Depth" under the Refraction portion. To be honest, I can't get it to replicate the effect you just showed. I've tried everything....no luck. Any advice? Would love to see your take on it. Thanks so much.
@@Jerrytkubpyd I did!! Straight from Chaosgroup no less!! Works like a charm. Send me your email and I'll send you the step by step instructions they sent me. jmr
Hey Minh, I followed all the steps but when i enable the photon caustic option under Global Illumination, it is not showing any caustic effect. What i should do?
I have no displacement tool in my VRay5. With this training, it does look slightly better, but still a disaestar. Vray 3.6 I used before worked way better with the water material.
Thanks for showing the process of how things don't end up how they 'should' These programs, especially for a new user tend to throw up 50 ways to stop you up from doing what in theory is a simple thing: you just want a damn render that looks realistic. I can't tell you how many times I've tried to navigate the labyrinthine maze of options to get the render to do what it needs to do, especially as a layman who has NO clue about what any of these terms mean and how they actually effect the model render.
Oh I feel you. I had to do so much research to get it to work. This is why a lot of people are starting to like simpler programs like Enscape and Lumion 😂
Nice video and great explaination! Despite following all the differents instructions , i didn't manage to get the colour of the water transparent , it remains dark (sort of grey / brown) , any idea how to sort that out? thankss
Nice tutorial! I subscribed! Is this done in vray next? If you render in Lumion or Enscape would it take much faster to set up the render scene and easy but same realistic effect?
Yes it's done in Vray Next. Lumion and Enscape have really nice water. Lumion has even better exterior assets like plants and trees. I'm not sure if those two support caustic effects though 🤔
@@ArchitectureInspirations Ah I see! Glad it's not just me. Thanks for replying. My other questions is that the dome light makes the shadows seem really long as if the sun is low in the sky, rather than in the middle of the day. Is there anyway to change this? Thanks.

Hi Minh, for vray sketchup, between the gpu and the cpu which should I invest more? Eyeing the amd ryzen 3900x and the nvidia rtx 2070 card, building a new pc here, anyway awesome videos
Vray is more reliable with CPU. I'm not sure if GPU is perfect yet. Investing in GPU is good but it doesnt need to be super high end. Unless you want to use Lumion and Enscape more.
Here's a trickey tut to make, (I actually had to work this out for a client). Putting vinyl stickers on a glass surface in vray. Literally no decent tutorials on how to do it and it's ultra useful to know.

Hey man, any tips and tricks for video animation in vray for sketchup? I know there are better software like Lumion and Enscape, but still. If you use VRScenes in sketchup model, they do not show properly in other apps?
Hm personally I don't render animation in vray sketchup at all because it would take forever. Even with a good PC, it's just too much time and work for a 5 seconds clip. Imagine rendering a still image taking 1 hour, then multiply that by 24 for 1 second of animation (24frames/sec). That's a whole day of rendering for just 1 second😂
@@ArchitectureInspirations Yea I know. I did see a few tips where it does not calculate light cache for every image, and a bit lower quality with denoiser on. Will play a bit with the settings :)
Hi Sir, I tried to self customize the water just like you do. I cant seem to generate small waves in the water. I have (i) added in texture help, (ii) selected noise, (iii) played with the intensity of displacement.... but to no avail, the water looks flat.
I think you just need a better quality HDRI. And it also depends on the angle of the camera too. The camera need to be grounded, not floating too high above the model, it'll just look funny. Test out different HDRI from HDRIHaven.com
Actually I have high resolution hdri with size range of 400 mb , there was no problem with the older version. It all started after installing vray next . I tried placing it in the ground and all..but still no change
abin t mathew Reading your problem description, I would guess you may not be mapping your HDR image correctly. Try to enter in your bitmap settings (what I mean by that is to click in the slot where you placed your HDR image inside the vray dome light). There, you should choose spherical mapping in UVW environment. I think that in V-Ray for Sketchup 3, any HDRI image loaded in the dome light would be automaticaly mapped correctly(spherical), but in V-Ray Next for Sketchup, you have to do it manually. Hope it helps!
Actually not. When I add spot lights to the sides of the pool inside I get not effect at all. I’d like to see the glass-like refraction of the lights into the pool. But instead it just look like the pool is empty and the water is only a thin layer covering the top.
