You could have planted the top of the tomato plant that broke off and it would have given you another plant that way. I also take off the "suckers" that are down low on a determinate tomato and plant those to increase my number of plants and harvest. I'm in MD also and my garlic looks just like yours right now. Your cauliflower looks great!
