- Gamle Strynefjellsveg ("Old Stryn mountain road") is one of a few gravel roads in western Norway that is easily accessible and at the same time; it is a passthrough, you do not have to turnaround and go back the same way :-).
Of the 27.2 km approx. 17.3 km is gravel.
Gamle Strynefjellsvegen is one of Norway's 18 National Scenic Routes (link below), so it is quite busy in the season. I think the paved part of the road is actually the most scenic one. The transition from tarmac to gravel is approx. at the border between Vestland and Innlandet county.

I hope the weather will be in your favor when in Norway - makes all the difference… ☀️⛈️ - don’t go too early if you plan on riding gravel roads in the mountains - the snow stays long in the mountains and the roads can be horrible in the start of the season… - the video was recorded early August. Only 12 minutes into your video and it is totally amazing. Everything I love... and no music. 😁 I love love love the mountains.... BUT..... I hate hate hate HATE the cold weather even more. Anything below 21 C is too cold for me night and day. I am a girly man even as a child and now 66. Everything just aches and all my joints. This is Runa's country... "off she goes". You must be an eskimo to ride in this weather. What was the temp when you were riding? So so beautiful. At 31:05, where did the joggers come from? I never saw any vehicles anywhere. The video was recorded August 7th, 2020. A nice late-summer day. Temperature in the mountains here I would guess around 10-15 C. The joggers? Could have come from either end of the road; Grotli or Videseter. Not that far to jog. I guess they were taking action to avoid aching joints at 66? 😉
