@2:56 For anyone wondering, he describes the OFF position. Great video, easy to follow and helps a lot to get a general understanding. Now it all seems already less scary :)
I have continuity between fuses and the terminals but I cannot find any continuity from the terminal to the switch. I even get continuity from the fuses to the switch. Any suggestions it powered on fine before today?
Hey man, while cleaning and taking off my powerswitch, the copper from pin3 came off. Where/what can I connect the third pin from my new powerswitch with?
If you checkout the board scans here www.retrosix.wiki/gbc-board-scans you can follow it. It goes under the power switch, to the other side of the board, and then is a big thick trace running down the PCB. You can scrape that away and solder to it
I' v got a question. My power switch fell completey to dust. so now I have no power switch at all on the circuit board. When I short C and 3, the power LED turns on, but no "Gameboy screen" or sound. Is it necessary to have the switch soldered to test functionnality? I suppose a connection to the other soldering points is necessary for the screen to appear but it' s just a guess, can you tell me something about it? thx in advance
@@RetroSix ok I wanted to upgrade to an IPS v2.0 anyways so if this fixes the issue it' s fine. I wonder if the Problem came from the Button led kit. After mouting it, everything worked fine until I turned a few times on and off while the case was opened. I hope I did not short anything while turned on. What makes me wonder is, when I have a charger connected, the led lights turn on...I don' t know if it is a feature or an issue.
@@RetroSix Ok I resolved my issue. Took a small wire, soldered it from C to 3 to be free handed to run tests. Turns out the power supply I used seems to compromise somehow since it has 5V output instead of 3V required. So having wired C to 3, I could test batteries and.... taddaaaa, everything works just fine. So at the end of the day, it really was the power switch. So I' m gonna wait until it' s delivered and fix my GBC.
Seems like it but simple to see just remove the metal shield from switch and remove the black plastic slider then test again and look at switch contacts on board

This video was crazy helpful for fixing my faulty gameboy color. Turns out I'd blown the fuses when modding it somehow!
Awesome video. I can confirm the power switch is not the problem. Just gotta figure out where else my GBC is failing 😅
Oh hello angle six. Love ur vids on this and ur last channel. Are you ever gonna come back on angle six? Plz answer.
Thank you! I jumped from + to C and it turned on when in off position. I think that means a need to replace the switch right?
Fantastic video. Do you sell replacement of this switch? Thanks
Yes in our store search for power switch

No that would be fine to test. Likely your regulators negative voltages are bad so you would need new regulator or a screen upgrade

My pad 3 on my on off switch came off by accident. Can I run a wire in SW1-VCC to the 3 prong on the on off switch to solve that problem
If you follow where the trace goes after being ripped and just wire to there yes
Hi, my power switch is ok when it's ON.. but there is no been when connecting the battery terminal to pin 3.. any suggestions? Thank you!!
Check your fuses
i have always a beep between C and 3 at off position and on position ... is the switch broken? -_-
