Anti-histamines. Take them on floats, hikes, keep them in the car. Take them when symptoms pop up. Bug bites, allergies of all sorts, etc.

I was expecting Kelly to go overboard not Cody! Ha! Kudos to you for showing it. I was nervous for Kelly too! I always have butterflies when not sure about rapids and bushes/trees on the side. My boyfriend and I almost drowned because of a fallen tree and people in front of us got caught up and we had to stop in rapids to keep from hitting them and got stuck backwards in a wood tangle. Was tipped out and went under, couldn't stand up because of the strong current and where was our life jacket's? We were sitting on them....i will ALWAYS wear them from now on! Scared the crap out of me and taught me a valuable lesson without losing our lives!😵❤
Sounds terrifying... that's why I don't do rapids... Not worth my life for sure. Glad you survived.
All it takes is one close call to bring ya back to reality of how essential those life jackets really are. I Had a close call and I won't hop in a boat with out one on .

Kelley needs to find out what type of bugs they were for the next time and also if you were wearing any creams , lotion or even some shampoos will draw them to you like a magnet.
Knowing what they were will help you avoid this happening again and you’re also know what to apply or not to your body.
Cody, you seem smarter than going backwards on rapids , that’s a sure why to get knocked out or a severe head injury. Eye wear is a big one near banks them small twigs will take an eye out.

We always carry some Diphenhydramine (Benadryl) for situations like this and have found that roll on peppermint/eucalyptus essential oil helps with itching from the bites. Sorry Kellie had to deal with this, but it was still a beautiful and interesting video. Safe travels guys!

Kelli, hope you are feeling better. I hope this makes you smile; 😊I have a solution to prevent burning in the oven. I used 7 1/2 inch square pizza stone on the bottom of the oven and put my biscuits on top shelf. Golden brown and no burning! The pizza stone came in pack of four. I would love to send you one to try out.

Hey guys! Love all your content. Medical professional here. I noticed you said all you have is Tylenol. Make sure you keep Benadryl and Benadryl cream ALWAYS. It will prevent itching and god forbid you have a serious allergic reaction the oral Benadryl will help until you can seek proper medical attention.

We carry Benadryl where ever we go. It can be life saving. Up in NY state we have flies that create havoc like Kelly has experienced.

Do you keep topical Benedryl cream in your first aid kit? It won't stop the reaction, but as the swelling goes down, those bites are going to itch more and the Benedryl will keep that under control. Love your channel! Thanks for all you do!
Glad you’re ok, Kelly. Good you went to the doctor. Some folks are more sensitive to bites than others. Recommend keeping some antihistamines handy, and maybe even take one prior to your activities. These kinds of reactions can be life threatening, especially when you feel your breathing is affected in anyway. Cody be careful! That was an awesome example of a flip, 😂

BUFFALO GNATS!!!! Little bitty bugs that don't know they are little and bite BIG!!!!
Cody, and interesting fact and something interesting to explore. The head waters for the Illinois River Bayou is at Kings Bluff and Pedestal Rock trail. We went there one morning right after a thunderstorm and you can watch the water form into little streams and join other little streams and then go over the bluff at Kings Bluff that is a 70' fall. It is very interesting to watch and see how it all comes together. The timing is important, right after a rain. The trail for both features is about a 1 mile very easy loop. A very interesting area and something that I believe you would really enjoy seeing.
Girl!! That’s what you call an allergic reaction! Benadryl is a standard for your first aide kit. When we go to FL the “no-see-ums” do that to us. It’s always worse the next day. Benadryl cream, Benadryl tabs should be in every vehicle and so on. 😉

Years ago I was bitten by Buffalo gnats too. I swelled up as well and since the gnats got up under my sunglasses, my face looked like something hit me hard! I’m glad you took this seriously and got medical attention. And that you are going to be okay.

Same here with bug bites ... I wear long sleeve shirts and long pants all the time when in the woods ... and here in Ocean Shores WA. the mosquitos are bad here come spring and early morning .... so hat shirt and long pants for me. I swell up and itch just like you. As we get older our systems change, I never had a problem when I was Young.
That video was very compelling and I commend Kelli for having a good time on the rapids in her kayak even though she was being bitten by a bug that caused a reaction, her strength and courage is to be a strong force within her life because she is willing to try anything even though she was nervous she wrote the course and I have a husband like Cody that took care of the camp and then took care of her is a sign of pure devotion in a marriage and it is so much fun watching this couple interact with each other setting up camp having a gourmet camp cook as a wife and a adventuresome husband in this couple. I so look forward to watching these videos I guess because I’m from Tennessee in fact I’m from Memphis and have gone to Arkansas many times camping. I’m so glad that Cody and Kelli went to an Airbnb for Kelli to rest and recuperate and to get their plans ready for the next video and their next destination. The price of admission is still worth it! Glad that you got through it. Just be more careful now. Histamines will get worse on your body as time goes on. In the last 20yrs I went from little reaction to stings and bites to carrying as EpiPen and Benadryl capsules. Your body will not build up an immunity.

Now that's the kind of river I like to kayak ...fun rapids, lots of wave trains and good fishing . Sort of reminded me of the New River here in NC and Southern VA. Those Viking kayaks look real stable. Kelly was acting like my wife when I take her on a river with rapids. Glad she is ok. Those bugs are like the Noseeums here in NC.

Yes, I was yelling pay attention when you were flying the drone. Kelly I feel so bad for you because I know how it feels. I am allergic to mosquitoes like that and it's horrible. I once had a nasty experience with deer flies too. They were in the grass and they stayed at that level and really hurt when they bite - like a horsefly. They look like flies only a little smaller and kind of golden in color. Holy moly I had over 30 bites on each foot from the ankles down. Couldn't wear shoes for a week! I don't know if that's what got you. PS, the concert was worth it. Crosby Stills and Nash, and Dire Straights back in the 80's!

LOL. I was just thinking about how cold it would be when water would splash on my nads if I did that, just when you let out a yell saying how cold it was. : - )
When I still lived and recreated in the Midwest I used to have a similar reaction to poison oak exposure rather than blistering. As long as I got out a lot I wouldn't have any reaction to it at all but typically the first time getting out in the spring I would have a problem usually in the crotch or butt area if I got some on my hands then took a leak or wiped my butt. Not pleasant at all. I'd chew up a couple Benadryls, wash them down with some beer and the symptoms would clear up in minutes. I'm not endorsing Benadryl though particularly since my longtime live in girlfriend developed dementia at an early age and is now in a home for dementia and Alzheimer patients possibly due to her using it regularly over decades for allergies but for an occasional use to quell a nasty reaction it has worked for me in the field even for bee and scorpion stings out here in the desert where I live now. I even crushed one up, mixed it with a crushed aspirin and water and squirted it down one of my feral rodent control cat's throat since he was too wily and too far gone to take to a vet with a syringe after he got bit by a Mohave green rattle snake and he recovered.
Y’all scared the heck out of me! I’m watching like it’s a dang scary movie on the edge of my seat. I was praying it wasn’t Kelly getting hurt on the water. Thankful it was something to be controlled. Kelly take the gray hair off of Cody next time 😂😂🤣

Awee. Benadryl & calamine or Caladryl lotion is a must have when you camp. That might have saved you a trip to the ER.

I’m suffering from Buffalo Gnats bites here in Louisiana now. They love to bite around your ears and neck. We live along a bayou and I think they are around water mostly April and May. Loved the video.
I too deal with the gnats bites too.
I swell up and the bites get really sore. I hate this time year.
I have had success with homemade gnat spray made with scope ,tea tree oil and witch hazel.

That was an awesome kayaking adventure except for Kelly getting all those bites. I'm glad she did not develop any breathing issues which occasionally happens with allergic reactions. I had fun just pretending I was steering and paddling. I have to get another kayak...regret selling my first one.

Man this was a good video man. Kelly I am so happy for you hitting those rapid like it was nothing. See you got this no need to be nervous. But I clearly understand if it's your first time testing the kayak out on Big Rapids like that. Me , my wife , my 6th boys , & granddaughter we love to kayak and kayak camping. Kelly I'm so sorry to hear about the real urgent action you was having against the bugs but I'm glad you went and got checked out. That was the right thing to do. Cody you did excellent as well man. Congratulations on your fish you caught. Me and my family & my wife invited her co-worker and her family ( husband & 3 boys) we all went kayak fishing. My 6th son paul quote the biggest bass out of all of us wait was 3 pounds. Cody I'm glad you okay man going down backwards and hitting the trees with your head could have been serious. I'm glad you didn't get injured man. Cody question about your sandals man? While I was kayak fishing i have to kayak Barefooted 👣styles because of my foot being so wide. I threw my flip-flops in the back of the kayak and instead of putting them in my milk crate & like I went to go get a beverage out of my cooler my 300lb self leaned over too far and my Flip flops fell in the water and the current carry it down into some trees and I lost a flip flop. I had to go Barefooted 👣 for the rest of the day. My question is I was thinking about getting the same type of sandals you have but I heard the toe loop keep tightening down on the big toe cutting off the circulation. Have you ever had that problem with your sandals doing that to your big toe? Chacos are one sandals that they makes wide for people with wide feet but I have tried them on a couple years ago and I had trouble getting my big toe to fit through the toe loop. But I heard they fix that problem & with me having very very extremely wide feet with very fat wide toes I'm scared of spending that much money on some sandals that I won't be able to wear for kayaking. When you was walking in the water with your sandals on I would have had to done that barefooted 👣 so that's one reason why I'm looking for a pair of sandals to wear. I really appreciate if you could let me know cuz I know you wear those a lot. Apologize for being so long. Good video thank you for sharing.
