I love decorating cans. I will never forget the first time I did them. A friend and I were doing a high end craft show. I am a painter and had run out of simple wood items. This was at least thirty years or more ago. I started painting some cans just to pass the time and use up nervous energy. I painted them solid colors and then free handed snowmen and Christmas trees and other simple things. We were setting up our booth and I brought them out and started setting them around, My friend looked at me like I was crazy and said you can not sell tin cans in this show...no way. I just looked at her and told her I paid my half of this booth and I was putting in my cans. She rolled her eyes and laughed. I went home after we set up to come back later. She called me about 2 hours after the show started and told me people were begging for cans. We still laugh about it! I miss doing shows.
I love this story. Thank you so much for taking the time to share it with me. And, thank you for watching my videos🥰
Love this! Great story!
❤
I loved them all. The last one with the cardboard was my favorite but lots of great ideas ❤
I think the colors in your bow is what made u not like the gold tree jar. I would stick with black and gold, and the homespun
I think you are right on the bow of the jar! Great insight. Thank you so much for your feedback and commenting!
I love the black & white picture ornaments
Thank you!!
I love these projects for Christmas! So inspired to try these! Thank you for your efforts to share your talents. ❤☃️♥️
Thank you so much!!
I am so glad I found you and this video! I loved everything you did!! It was so enjoyable to watch and I think I will be doing several of your ideas with my grand daughter! She loves crafting with me and what awesome teacher gifts! Thank you!!
That is awesome! Thank you so much. I hope you and your granddaughter had a blast!
This is my first time to your channel. I really enjoyed the projects you created today. I caught on to the emphasis you put on the fact you were using materials that everyone has access to. I really enjoy projects like that. I find them more inspiring and much more creative. I am not knocking more expensive craft materials. I find those very beautiful as well. However, in my opinion anyone can take an item give it a good paint job, use anything from IOD (or similar), wax it or use rub n buff and make just about anything beautiful. Those videos may inspire me to add even more IOD products to my wish list but that's about the end of it to be honest. I've stopped watching channels I had been loyal to for years because it felt like everyone was doing the same things and nothing new or truly inspiring. I even quit UA-cam all together for a while for the same reason. I used to watch faithfully any time I had spare time. I'm looking forward to watching more from you. 🤞 I am hoping you didn't put an emphasis on using resources available to everyone because you don't usually make videos like this one. I truly enjoyed this video and found it inspiring. Thank you for sharing.
Your Christmas tree jar is very cute! You may not like it as much because the ribbon looks like it is 4th of July. But adorable!
I agree, I think that bow was overwhelming and just off. I didn't think about it until you pointed it out. That is what I love about a creative community we all have different perspective. Thank you for the comment and watching.
@@CozyJunkStudioit is cute as it is, but I wonder if a subtle outline of the tree would look good?
I just found your channel and I just love these projects!!! Keep them coming, you've inspired me to get crafting again for Christmas! ❤️💚🎅
Awesome! Thank you! and Welcome!!! Enjoy creating. I love getting inspired by creators too!!!
I just found your channel and I love how you used all the everyday items we all have!! Everything you created was inspiring and amazing! It’s fine to use all the other stuff, but it’s very refreshing to see items we might throw away being used to create something beautiful! Thank you so much for this video! I absolutely loved it!
Welcome! and Thank you so much!!
Just came across your channel and I already appreciate you for not wasting supplies like so many people do. Drives me crazy when people make a bow and then cut off 8’ from the tails or cut in the middle of a sheet of paper.
Thank you for watching and the comment and yes I try not to waste supplies. "Supply hoarder here"!
I absolutely love everything you made. Those little snowmen jars are adorable and I totally love the Santa at the end. Wow!! Plus I have subscribed to your channel. Tfs your talent.
Thank you so much!
I love the way you show how paint can be used instead of rub and buff. There are so many expensive craft items out there when the basics supplies could do the same job. Also, I am an upcycle fan too, so loved all of it.
Thank you so much!!
They are all adorable 😍🥰🥰 keep on crafting
I took used cans and jars for creating some vases etc
... You already have them so why waste happy 😁 holidays.
Hi Sharon, all these projects are gorgeous!! I always enjoy learning from your videos 😄You're one of my five favs in the DIY crafts category! 😁🏅🏅🏅
I loved every one of these! I wasn't too sure about the cardboard Santa ornament when you started, but by about half way through, you had me. As you added each piece, it really came to life. Wow!
Thank you so very much. I felt the same way when making it....I never know what the end will look like until it gets there!
Everything is just too cute!!! Love the jar snow men!!! Thank you
I have so many supplies that if I crafted 24 hours a day for the rest of my life, I couldn’t work through them. I don’t know if this is a hobby or a disease.
Right there with you! I think collecting supplies is just as fun as using them....so probably a disease lol...Thank you for sharing.
Watching you helps me feel better about collecting junk and stuff. Thank you!
Hahaha, I feel the same when people tell me they save junk! Thank you for the comment.
Love this video! Great idea's! Thanks for keeping it so everyone can find the items and for people who don't own a Cricuit like me!
You are so welcome!
Wow good job, especially considering the items you used! Very, very creative! My favorite was the last one with the Santa! And so incredible it was made from a piece of box! :-)
Thanks so much! 😊 I love making art out of junk or trash!!
I love the fact that you used an old box lid to make a shadow box. Super cute!
Thank you!
I love all of your recycled Christmas crafts! I love upcycled crafts too. I have saved a bunch of that honeycomb cardboard just waiting for a craft to come to mind. 😂. The poppers are wonderful too! Will you fill them with anything? I’m subscribing to your channel right now..you’re my kind of crafter!
Welcome!!! Thank you so much. I put the poppers on my tree, I should fill them though! Thanks for the reminder!
❤ I LOVED ALL YOUR CREATIONS!! MY DAVE ARE THE JAR TOPS TO MAKE WITH MY YOUNG GREAT GRAND CHILDREN!! SAFER PLUS ALLOW THEIR CREATIVITY TO FLURISH!! ALL THAT YOU USE . IM GOING TO GET MORE IDEAS FROM YOU THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING!! ❤
Thank you!!
First time watching. So far have watched snowmen jars and love them. Excited about watching your other projects. Thank you for sharing your ideas.
WELCOME!!! Thank you so much!
What color did you use to go around the white circle….you didn’t show that!….Thanks!
I used the Folkart "Real Gold" paint that I was using to mimic rub in buff throughout the video. Thank you for the question!
I'm doing gifts in a jar for friend at church this year & love the idea of painting the snowman on the jars for a longer lasting gift. Thank you!
Yes, that is too cool, they can use them all winter because of the snowman! Thank you.
Wow! I just came across your video in my feed and I am hooked! I just subscribed. I have never been so sad about throwing jars, from the store, away in my whole life, lol. Also, I have never seen anyone take a piece of torn up cardboard and make it beautiful 😍 All of your creations were so good, and Im totally inspired! Thank you so much❤
Awe, the nice thing about jars is they are a plenty, save them for next time!!! and WELCOME!!! Thank you for the wonderful comment!
Hey Sharon! I thought I sent a comment on your last video, and went to look and I don’t think I actually sent it😝but I was saying I lived in granite falls for a year, I’m a nurse and worked at bayada in hickory! I had no idea you are in that area! I miss NC in the fall! And I Love watching you! I used your idea in my last video of the Holly Glen on the dt piece!
Hey Kathy! That is awesome! When you said you were a nurse in one of your videos, I thought she is a nurse like me who loves to create! Thank you so much for watching my videos. I too watch yours and gain inspiration! You are right I did not see any comments from you as I do answer all of my comments. I was raised mostly in Kentucky, and have spent a lot of time in Tennessee. I am a southern girl through and through.
Love ALL your projects😍 my favorites are the glass jar snow globe, the wreath jar lids, the box lid scene & the Christmas crackers.the cardboard house ornament genius! Love your Rustic glam style❤ I found you through Amanda jojo xoxo
I will have to look her up and thank you so much for the comment and watching!
Wow your imagination with that santa in the honeycomb box. Wow love it
Thanks so much 😊, you made my day!!!
I found your channel today and I am so thankful I did! You have such a creative mind. I love every single craft/repurpose item you done but the cardboard box from the toilet is just WOW!!! I would have never in a million years seen something be created from literal trash. You are so awesome and I can not wait to go through your channel and see your other videos! God Bless and thank you for taking your time to create for all of us
Awe, thank you so very much!!!
I love the snowman jars and I will be making these.
Awesome! Thank you for watching!
What did you seal them with? Thanks!
Either Mod Podge or DIY Debi's Design Diary Big Top clear coat, thank you for the question!
So many beautiful projects, so little time!❤❤❤❤
Oh yes! I agree, if only I was as fast as my brain goes through ideas!
So happy I found your channel!❤ There is a repurpose for anything😊 Beautiful ideas!
I agree and Welcome! Thank you for the comment.
Hello Friend!
Was Thrilled when I saw this video was almost an hour!🤗 It truly made my day. Your creations are so inspirational. I loved each one.
I save my cans and glass jars. I've done many projects with them. Thanks for sharing your talent, time and inspiration with us. Already looking forward to your next video. Take care😊
Hey Terri! Thank you so much and I appreciate the feedback on the longer video! Enjoy creating!
I made a stamp for my junk journal white pages with that honeycomb cardboard box. It was to pretty to throw away.
For the spaghetti jar Christmas tree candle holder, you could "trace" the outline of the tree shape with the twine or with a dark color to match the song lyric print inside.
What a great idea, it def needed something thank you for the feedback!
Love, love, love. You have a special gift for thinking outside of the box, can, jar…lol. Well done.
😊 thank you so very much!!!
Hot glue is the worst thing to use to add glitter or fake snow. White glue or mod podge is the best thing for glitter or snow.
That last one really expanded the horizons. You showed how to see and find creativity and vision EVERYWHERE! How fun!
Except now not sure how we"ll ever be able to throw anything away again! Projects lurking everywhere...lol.
Anyway...Ha
Thanks for the inspiration- I'm a new Sub now 🙂
Welcome!!! Thank you for watching and commenting and yes I have such a hard time throwing out stuff especially if it looks like that Toilet cardboard did!!!
I just found your channel! And let me tell you I am absolutely obsessed with your crafts!! Hands down the best I have seen in a very long time! Thanks for the wonderful ideas for trash to treasure, I will be making these to sell very soon!
Welcome!! Thank you so much. I love to bring great ideas. I too get inspiration from other creators!
I just found your channel and love it, so I subscribed!! I really like everything you did!! Thank you oh so much for showing how to use paint in place of rub n buff!! I save everything!! I probably have all the things needed to make these except the Tim Holtz products, so I will be printing graphics to use!! Thank you so much for sharing!! God bless!! ❤️❤️🙏🙏
Thank you so much! and WELCOME!
I love upcycling cans, bottles, jars and anything else i can find!! I love all of your creations!! I saved a piece of heavy cardboard similar to yours!! I wish i knew where it was in my stash!!😂😂❤ I'm going to do some jars and cans like yours. Love the black!! Tfs❤
Thanks so much! 😊
Yes love making jars and cans..very pretty..yourr crafts are great..Thank You for your tips..Love n Prayers for all my craft friends...Great to make and sell. ❤❤ Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄 ❤️
Thank you!
The snowman face hrs are ADORABLE I couldn’t understand what you covered the jar with after gluing on the canning ring. Was it midge podge or some kind of clear sealer?
I am sorry, I forgot I was trying to use things people had, but I used what is called BIG TOP by DIY Debi's Design Diary it is a sealer. You can you Mod Podge it is just as nice and dries clear and easy to find.
Good afternoon, find your channel from UA-cam recommendation , new subscriber !!! I’m a old school crafter , remember being a teenager love to recreate things out of recycling materials, Thank you so much for the inspiration ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
WELCOME!!! Yes, I love using trash for projects, thank you for the comment!
1st I would like to say I love your voice. It is relaxing and soft. I love watching your videos, they give me so much joy. Thank you for your wonderful ideas. My aids and nurse are try to get me to sell my crafts, but Im nerves people won"t care for them. I make sockand cloth dolls, ever part is hand sewn. Becaus I don't have feet anymore. I love crafting it helps me have things to do, because I don't. get out much either. Crafting supplies are high I can't afford some things for my ideas. Keep showing your lovely ideas, u r awesome.
Awe, thank you so much!!! I bet your dolls are so adorable!
These are incredible projects!!! I don't know which one I will do first!!! Maybe, you could use empty spice jars with the holes on top for a glitter "shaker". I have seen someone use shoe colors for painting and "stain".
Yes! Thank you! Great idea.
Lovely projects done in the true spirit of crafting. I grew up making crafts & gifts from baby food jars and cereal boxes!
That is awesome! Thank you for the comment.
I love your creativity, and so far, I love all of your projects.
Thank you so much!
I loved all of these! The little deer in the baby food jar is one of my favorites. I appreciate that you try to use things that gear towards helping people make crafts that don’t necessarily have a lot of money to do crafts. The jar lids are adorable and I can’t wait to try cinnamon on a DIY which I’ve never done before. I was laughing every time you messed up your words because I do that when I’m tired and I know you were frustrated, but it was making me laugh.🤣 I’m not laughing at you. I’m laughing with you. Have a blessed day!🙏
Thank you so much for the comment. You can laugh at me, I laugh at me all the time...glad I made you laugh!!
Love all your projects but especially the jar lids & I absolutely love the cardboard santa house.
Beautiful! & Thank you for the inspiration.
Thanks so much!
Sharon, just found you on UA-cam. Love your with in reason ideas. Simplicity is the key to home made. Thanks for sharing! God Bless
Welcome!! Thank you so much!
You are so Talented and very Creative, I love your style, thank you for sharing I am a new subscriber and so glad I found your channel, I really love the simplicity with materials and the Gorgeous outcome.
Thank you so much!
36:01 You are so right that collecting supplies is as fun, if not more than using them! That’s why I have two rooms, and my cabin full of craft, & sewing supplies! I’m going to start going through all of them, and try to make nice projects out of them.
Go for it, enjoy using your supplies, it is fun!!!
I love your creativity and your teaching methods. I like to recycle as well and you inspired me!
Thank you so much and for the feedback!
❤ Tfs 💕 Trash to treasure 🎉ROCK$ 😘 XOXO New Subbie here 😅 Hiiiy'all from Colorado
Welcome from Colorado and thank you so much!!!
I meant below was, what did you seal the snowmen faces with. Great video. You are very talented! One suggestion I have is to display all the creations you made in this video and then pan them all slowly to conclude your great talent and DIYs. Again, great job!
Great suggestion! Thank you so much! I think I sealed them with DIY Debi's Design Diary Top Coat called Big Top.
I love ❤️ what you have done. My favorite is the last . With the thick cardboard. I can see my self doing the blk &white ornaments as frames on a picture wall.
Thanks so much! 😊
I like collecting little things and bigger junk things to reuse. I’ve collected tea envelopes - tea bags are packaged in them - to use to make room dividers, like the beaded ones from the sixties. Those are just one type of thing I collect.
I’ve punched holes in cans to use as luminaries. I filled the cans with water and put them in the freezer. When the water is frozen I used a hammer and nail to punch the holes. I found the how-to on Pinterest, I think.
Cool ideas, thank you for sharing!!!
Love your projects, but I would not recommend using glue sticks to attach anything, especially the ones from dollar tree. I have found that although glue sticks will hold just fine right away, they do not last and your item will come off later on down the road.
Yes, I don't use dollar tree glue sticks. I use the recollection brand from Michaels, it is permanent. Dollar tree glue sticks are awful and a lot of glue sticks are only temporary because they are mostly made for kids. The two I only use are Recollection Permanent and Craftbond Scrapbooking glue sticks. Thank you for the comment!
Loved your crafts, just my style! Yes ma'am more please!! TFS & God Bless Jesus is the reason for the Season...
Thank you so much!
I to save things, hubby doesn't really like it but when I make something I share with him saying remember when..... ha ha . Beautiful things you are right up my alley ,
Thank you so much!
I use essential oils to get my labels off... It's works great, smells good and the oils clean off easy W rubbing alcohol! Love the jars!! Love a true upcycle with everyday items and easy to obtain supplies... Thanks for this video, it's exactly what upcycle used to be on YT!! ❤❤
Thank you for the tip! and the comment.
I love the snowman jars, I missed what you put over the chalk paint, was it glue to make it shiney, all your projects are beautiful, I save everything, now I have some good ideas
It was either Big Top clear coat by Debi's Design Diary or Mod Lodge. Thank you for the comment!
Love the snowman jars😍, however honestly the messy bow on the gold tree jar looks out of place. I think it was the red striped one. Maybe if you tea stained it first. Just my personal taste.
Thank you for the feedback, I think the bow was the downfall, everyone says so...it is nice to hear other opinions!
I like the plastic stick you are using, I have been burning my fingers using hot glue. I will make do with a big crochet hook. Thanks for the idea.
Thank you!!!
New subbie here and loving all the diy's so happy to find your channel ... stop by and say hi Amanda Jojo xoxo
Thank you and WELCOME!!!
I absolutely love the snowman jars. Can you tell me what you used to outline the snowman face it looks like some type of gold paint but it's not obvious in the video. Thank you so much for sharing you made my day so much better
Yes, I did lose that footage but stated that I used the same "Real Gold" paint from Folk Art that I was using throughout the video to mimic gold rub n buff. You can get that paint fairly easy and it is very reasonable in price. Thank you for the question and the comment!!!
I am so excited to make these things! My only criticism ( and it is so minor) but please show your finished items a little longer. I am in awe of your creativity!
Thank you for the feedback, will do!!!
Where is your booth? I love giving handmade gifts but since got hurt don't have time and energy to do all myself!!!
Hickory NC and Hudson NC; Antique Corner Mall and Hickory Antique Mall. Thank you for the comment!
I forgot till I watched ur video yrs ago the kids and I made pumpkins out of vegetable can used rub and buff yrs and yrs ago
That is awesome, thank you for the comment!
Your mom taught you the correct educated way to say buttons. It irritates me more then it should when I hear people say "buddens" there are T's in that word, not D's!!!! Irrational, I know. haha! Thanks for the inspiration!!
Yes, BUTTON! Thank you for the comment!
Love your projects. Thank you for using common craft items. Thanks for your videos.
Thank you and you are very welcome!
Great ideas! I drink hot tea daily, but love cocoa during the holidays! I love your coffee/cocoa bar ideas!
Thank you so much!
I could go either way on the videos. Love the longer ones but I always look forward to your videos. All the projects were fabulous. Thank you thank you!❤
Thank you so much!
I just found your channel. I love every single project! Thank you for making projects for the everyday crafter. I love repurposing and I can't wait to try some of these ideas!
WELCOME! Thank you so much for the comment and watching!
Recycling is my favorite thing to make crafts out of. I think the ribbon was wrong with the first one. I loved all of them
Thank you for the feedback!!! and watching!
To help get glue off jars of just about anything you can ach without damaging it , you can soak the item in hot soapy water and liquid bleach. The glue will be easily removed with a washcloth and warm water to rinse. I use old socks or paper towels to clean the glue off in the soapy water and bleach after allowing it to soak for approx and hr or so. Cloth can be used several times but it can be difficult to get the glue off in some cases depending on the used and I have also found out that if the label is waterproof cutting small openings will allow the bleach to penetrate waterproof materials. Just a shortcut I use. Also when its really warm in the spring and especially the summer sitting in a large bucket, I use a bucket from Lowes, in the sun keeps the water warm longer and the labels will come off more easily because the water stays hot longer. most of the time I found the glue will rinse off. this is great for doing several at a time. then the water can be used to clean my concrete patio to prevent mold. I HOPE THIS IS INFORMATION YOU FIND USEFUL. MUCH LOVE AND LIGHT.
Thank you for the helpful information and for watching!
I am a new subscriber to your channel. I love your projects. It is surprising what you can do with items that you would toss out.
WELCOME! Thank you so much for watching.
The gold spaghetti jar; perhaps if you went with red and black; the music inside would pop
Agreed, that is a great idea, it sure needed something, I should not have gave up on it! Thank you for the feedback!
I really like these projects especially the first one. I brand new at crafting and have so much to learn. Can you please tell me what you applied all over your jar once it was painted? Thank you so much
Thank you for the comment and the question. I either used Mod Podge in Matte finish or DIY Debis' Design Diary BIG TOP sealer. If I were just starting out I would start with Mod Podge because it is very reasonable in price. Or I would go to a hardware store/Amazon and buy a large can of sealer like Polycrylic. You can then put some in a smaller jar or container for use. It is more cost effective to buy Mod Podge or Large containers of sealer. Big Top is more expensive but it does last long as well. Let me know if you have anymore questions,
@@CozyJunkStudio thank you so much
My favorite was the snowmen jars!❤. I couldn’t wait to start them. They will make a great Christmas present to the ladies at my crafting group.
That is awesome! Thank you so much!
The black jars my favorite. It's nice to see someone local online. I to shop at Mighty Dollar
Hello local friend! I love Mighty Dollar! Thank you for the comment and watching!
Loved them all! New to your channel and subscribed. Blessings!
Welcome! Thank you so much!
I😮 am fascinated with how you are using items i throw in the trash 🗑️. Thank you for your channel.
You’re welcome 😊 Thank you for the comment!
The white berries were a pleasant surprise When you said berries I assumed red because that's what is always used,so when I saw the white I was definitely a nice shock.
I love white berries. If I can't find them I paint the red or green ones! Thank you for the comment.
New subscriber as of right now. I loved your video and all of the pieces that you made and my favorite thing was the cardboard house you made out of trash from your new toilet. It was genius that you thought to make it and you did an awesome job with the painting and finishes. I just loved it. I love quirky and if I saw that in a booth it would have been coming home with me!
WELCOME!!!Thank you!
I loved all your projects. I especially loved the cardboard house ornament Thanks for your inspiration!
Thank you so much!!
52:48 This is so cute, but for me I liked it better before the point where you started adding color to distress, especially the gold
Thank you for the feedback and watching!
Ready for part 2. Love your ideas.
Felicitation madame c'est magnifique ce que vous avez crée jaime beaucoup ❤❤❤🇲🇶👍👍👍
Thanks so much! 😊
Love all these projects! I did decorated cans for Halloween and just loved them!
Thank you!
Some cool ideas. Can you please tell me what the tool is that you are using to press things to the hot glue? Thank you.
The tool is a silicone tool form chalk couture. Thank you for the comment!
Don't worry about the time.... It's nice of you to talk us thru your projects.
Thank you that is very sweet!
Cute idea, just curious why paint the can if you're covering it with the paper?
Thank you for your question; when I originally painted the cans I wasn't sure what I would do with them. I wanted to have a bunch painted in advance. Great question!
I absolutely loved the craft using the cardboard. I love when people think outside the box.
Thank you so much!
I wish I’d seen this video a while back 😢. I love your style of crafting so I subscribed. Hello from South Carolina. That cardboard piece is amazing ❤.
Welcome! Yay South Carolina Sister! Thank you so much!
@@CozyJunkStudio are you from South Carolina? I live up in York County.
This seems cool but I got bored with all the long details. I fell asleep. Sorry
There is a button that you can speed up the video or skip through...no need to be bored😍
I love the cardboard door, and I'm in luck, we just ordered a new toilet!❤
LOL too funny, thank you for the comment.
I love these projects.♥️
