Thank you!!
My cats and lizards are my reason for everything!
My reptiles and arachnids are my sanity. I struggle, as well. Knowing I get to come home to them makes my life easier
Professor Herp, you’re so good and experienced at what you do I see you as an authority in the reptile community. I know this is out of context but been wanting to express myself for a while. Thank you for your invaluable information
Very well said! Thank you for sharing!!!
Been going through my own struggles recently. Couldn’t agree more. Caring for living things has a huge therapeutic benefit. Thanks for putting this video out and talking about it.
I think that being able to talk about your mental health is a great step towards good mental health. Allowing yourself a break and not beating yourself up for it is awesome advice that many of us could use. You can't pour from an empty glass. Good for you. Take care!
There is such a weird stigma about reptiles despite some being even as smart as birds. They are definitely intelligent creatures and can be pretty dang cute in their own right. Why people think they are gross or shouldn’t be kept like dogs or cats still alludes me, especially considering dogs and cats are far more dangerous and or destructive than most reptiles.
Which is why I think showing people how amazing reptiles can be and how they can show you how to be a more caring person is important. Education is very helpful to understanding them in general
Thanks for sharing and the suggestions. My Hermann’s tortoise comforts me just with his presence but he’s not that friendly. Congrats on the human baby!
I am so thankful for this video for so many reasons. First, I work in the Mental Health field. In an inpatient environment, in fact, witnessing the worst of the worst mental illness. So anything de-stigmatizing mental illness is so appreciated. Second, my love for snakes started because of my own mental health issues! I had horrible anxiety and depression. I was inpatient myself as a teenager and then went to an alternative high school to finish out my education. My anxiety crippled my school work. Particularly when taking tests. I couldn't get through them. One day my teacher brought in her boa. I am an animal person I general but this big girl curled around my body in my sweatshirt and just stayed like that. I had a test thar day and the snake stayed with me the whole time. I was not perfect but made it through that test and PASSED! The next test, my teacher brought in the boa again and gave her to me. I passed again! We repeated this until I graduated early and was absolutely cured of my test anxiety by a snake. More than any medication or therapy had done for me. From that moment on, snakes have been my comfort through so many troubles and issues. Reptiles are absolutely the greatest. ❤❤❤ hope you are well!
Agree with u ,,,,,,,what a healer n deed '
My bearded dragon is a registered ESA. He helps me take my mind off life, he loves to snuggle and fall asleep on me. Reptiles definitely can help us when we're having tough days.
I can completely agree with you . I have mental health issues for a long time now but I completely agree that the care or well fare of other creatures defo helps . I've kept and breed tropical fish and found them relaxing to watch with a well shaped tank but the water changes were to much and that's when I fe it love th reptiles. Currently got a bearded dragon salon coloured bci ......and probably last to my clan will be a pair of ackie monitor...... at least that's the plan just now
I hope this will be a topic that you make a regular feature!!! I loved it honestly and I don’t think it’s discussed enough. Every person that I know that keep reptiles has mental health they struggle with and I think your willingness to discuss is amazing. I’m so proud to follow you and your bravery here. Thank you so much!

Much love man, hope your spirits pick up with Spring coming. My skink helps me keep my depression at bay since I have to service his cage daily
I really appreciate your openness with us!!! I agree with you on all fronts! Nothing helps me more when I’m feeling anxious than interacting with my dwarf/SD retics!
