Residents in Kingwood dealing with another problem from Beryl -- sewage

Just under half a million CenterPoint customers remain without power. Residents in Kingwood are dealing with sewage, too.

A year ago the Kingwood wastewater treatment plant was reported to be under investigation by HPD and TXEQ for falsifying documents and illegal discharges. Are these problems related? What was the outcome of that investigation. Are the same operators and leadership in place? And which elected government officials should be responsible for oversight?

Kingwood should have never allowed Houston to Annex them. It’s illegal for the city to not have a back up generator at those facilities.

They were annexed due to an inability to raise enough funding for adequate infrastructure. This is typical of looking for somebody else to blame other than the local elected government.

I am from that area of Texas, but have lived in Florida for 30 years. After many storms here, those responsible for the sewage have installed generators on the lift stations so we don’t have this problem. I pray that they will see this solution for the people my home town. ❤

Its a shame bc Kingwood use to have such a great drainage system. We use to live there and Whenever there was a bad storm like Harvey came through, streets would flood but as soon as it stopped raining it would drain in less than an hour. But they keep developing Kingwood into this trashy neighborhood and this is what you get.
