Why would they be thrown away..? Even if you don’t want to sell them for the most profit, why not even just take them to GameStop and get a couple bucks? Or donate them? Wild they were gonna be dumped..
My experience with this type of situation is that sometimes folks just need to clear things out and don’t want to/don’t have the capacity to deal with what should be donated/what should be thrown away. Other times people truly have no idea that others care about this kind of stuff. I’m always so happy when they think of me or other collectors first, and we have the chance to rescue these items. Plus, we can make it worth their while as well :)
@@MancaveDave906 Yes and that largely speaks to the problem. Excluding the few who are genuinely incapable (even though some would likely have caretakers). The problem is the default mindset is to consume consume, throw away, consume. So little thought is ever placed on trading, bargaining, sharing, or simply giving back to people you know or society. It's far more detrimental to society to take the lazy route and trash it than it is to put in an couple ounces of effort and simply drop the things off (or have a free garage sale) and extend the life of the item. Choosing to pollute over significantly increasing another person's level of joy over months if not years out of laziness is sad. "People have no idea others care" I get that but at the same time that's kind of nonsense and just taking the easy way out (trash). They just aren't stopping to think for 1 second how they can better put the items to use. Everybody has heard of countless stories where old mundane items were kept for long periods of time and then sold later for significantly higher value. In fact, the older generations would know that better than us! They held on to things much longer than many of us do. Jeez. If the couple was "too busy" to deal with these games, they could of just placed it on FB marketplace for like 100 bucks and it would of been sold within the hour. Sad to think that these classic systems and games are only getting rarer and rarer as the years go on, and this haul was straight destined for the dump. Did the original owners even know the value of what they had? Or did they even care?
Thanks for watching! My experience has been that sometimes folks just need to clear space and don’t have the time/interest to deal with extra “stuff”. I’m always happy when they think of me or other collectors first, and it’s important to make it worth their while as well :).
Amazing stuff! Must have been quite a thrill to have that collection show up at your door!
