While listening, it occurred to me, democracies are at a severe disadvantage when it comes to the long game. Autocracies and dictatorships don't have to worry about elections. What's the solution?
Solution? Don't have republicans just proud to have no wars (new wars) during their 4 year term. Imagine instead of Iran nuclear deal Obama, then sanctions of trump and now appeasement from biden that at the start just destroyed the nuclear facilities and helped topple Islamic republic gov as 2/3 of Iranians cry out for. How many lives would not have been lost? How much money would have been saved? How many lives would be improved?
The solution is strong national identity and collective will to play that long game. it is the exact thing politicians are destroying by refusing to filter immigrants. Immigration is an important part of a country's policy, but it must be to the country's benefit, not the benefit of a political group within that country. Otherwise the country will head fast into disaster.

I don’t believe I used present tense. Very much past tense- centuries ago if not millennia. Not always “forced” but certainly send missionaries to convert.
Force was definitely used in the distant past, but there is nothing in the NT that endorses or commands such behavior. Christians are to preach the Gospel, the Good News, not force people to change their religious allegiance.
As a 60 yr old American Jew, I have had Christian friends try to save me by leaving pamphlets from Messianic Jews to giving me an audio tape lecture about why Jesus is the messiah. In contrast, I never asked them to become Jewish. I never even asked my husband to convert to Judaism.
They usually take their kids to church without asking them if they want to go. They don't wait until they are adults and can make their own informed decision.

I think that the BBC is too focused on British guilt for the sins of the colonial period. England should be proud of what they brought to the World, in spite of how they did it and the resource extraction. Their motives were extreme business, but also to deliver the benefits of civilization. What you are talking about having to happen is not going quite far enough. We need to really understand deeply that the motivations that have driven the Palestinian problem represent a very broad and ambitious strategic view that is essentially unequaled. The plan of Iran, Egypt, and others was to convince the entire World of a false view. This took determination, money, and fairly sophisticated strategy to pull off. An ambitious counter strategy must be to convince the entire Arabic and Islamic World in general that they are hurting themselves in a cause that cannot be won. This entails going back to the seventh century and on for at least a hundred years when the Koran was created. Like all other religions that started with an oral history, Islam followed a similar plan to arrive at their Book, which is claimed to be from the Prophet directly and is perfect and unchangeable. I won't mention why this defies all close examination. Like other ideologies and religions, Islam evolved. There was significant disagreement as to what the final version would look like, and what was emphasized was colored by history during the Arabic conquest of the Hijaz, and much of North Africa, Southern Europe, and Persia, to mention only some of the main areas. This should not be news. Scholars have worked long to arrive at these conclusions and more. Of some importance is that the Muslims and Jews did manage to coexist to some extent in a time when conquering one's neighbors seemed like a good way to move forward. Long before Mohammed, ancient civilizations were doing the raping and killing and burning while acquiring land and resources. Over time, it became convenient to write the Jews out of history, especially their Biblical contributions to the Koran. In a vast area characterized by relatively disorganized and isolated populations, the conquest was working, even into civilized Europe. The Jews; however, had a history of dealing with conflict of such proportions. Their Book was the only one in history that was based upon the experiences of a culture, real people, and real geography. Even the Hebrew language, evolved as it was, and developed in writing for over a thousand years, managed to influence Arabic. The same goes for some of the characters and ideas in this monotheistic achievement. And it was really an achievement; and it really was the Jews who achieved that. No matter what happens in any future, it is the Jews who first developed and accepted the concept of one God. As a beginning and non-academic and non-Jewish student of the Hebrew language, I believe that I have certain insights. This is also in part due to the fact that I have as a hobby been interested in languages in general for most of my life. I have arrived at the belief that the nomadic life of the Arabic People, combined with an oral tradition underlying the Koran, did not initially result in great sophistication of the language, especially in its written form. Hebrew, on the other hand, has a sophistication that would have been difficult for a seventh century Arab to master. In addition, as today, the Hebrew Book was studied in depth by much of the Jewish leadership to the point that a sophisticated culture of rituals was built around the history, and was adhered to by the Jews. This was in part necessary by the fact that their expulsion by waves of conquerors over time caused many of them to be uprooted. The strength of this culture and its spread to every Jew was also unequaled by any other People. Wherever they went, the Jews kept their culture, even if only in secret. This made them the most outstanding obstacle to the spread of the Muslim ideology. They could be killed; but they could not be defeated as a People. To this day, Islamic ambitions are faced with the same problem of how to conquer the Jews. To the World that has some Jews in every Country, it was easy to blame them for hard times when they came. This is the cause of anti-semitism. The one who does not fit in gets the blame. Christianity also had its role in vilifying the Jews, especially in accusing them of blood libel, as in claiming that, like the Canaanites, they sacrificed young children, especially Christian children to use their blood in their rituals. Many Christians persist in having variations of such beliefs, and thus do further injustice to the Jews. To get back to my point, I remind that I was talking about the ambitious plan of some Islamic manipulators to miseducate the entire World about Palestine. What I call for is an equally ambitious plan to get the Muslims to admit to what the scholars have learned about the Koran and establish the World's most ambitious plan to get back to as much of the truth as can be discovered and then to educate their Imams and their People about the difference in religion between what we know and what we claim, to maintain our control over our societies. The call to kill all the Jews is not going to help anyone. It will stop human progress that is needed to face the problems of the future. God did not create any people so that they could be killed off. That is nonsense. If you don't believe in God, still, evolution never worked specifically to eliminate any species. The stronger or more fortunate species always emerged without the intent of other species to annihilate them. We try to save many wild animals. We should not balk at saving the Jews. In the same way every culture and Nation and State has to make some ambitious changes to fit into the checkerboard of this small planet. We are not here to kill people. We are here to reach our potential, whatever that may be. Returning to the seventh century and wiping out those who seem to stand in our way is insanity on the large scale. Educated people do not have an appetite for destruction; but they generally do have an appetite to exploit their neighbors. This will be the next problem to solve.

My only question is: Why did Britain so abysmally fail to accomplish the second half of their mandate? They were to create an Arab state and a Jewish state. They DID create the Arab state: Jordan. Mission HALF accomplished. But failed to establish the Jewish state in the remaining half of the land--as was their charge. All sorts of hestitation and excuses but FAILED to complete the mission as charged. So here we are. Yes, there was Arab violence--but local population violence never deterred the British Empire from creating Pakistan. They laid down the law and got it done, and Pakistan stands (for better or worse). But not for Israel. I don't understand how Britain of all times, wimped out at the most crucial moment for the whole middle east, as it turns out. Ww1 had just been won, the Ottoman Empire vanquished, was being dismantled, at that moment it would have been a clear understanding that Britain, the vanquor, under the rules of the time, got to set the rules. So, half for Arabs and half for Jews in the British would have had the immediate natural easy-sell appeal of "Even-Steven" split enacted by the winning side, widely understood to have earned the right, in blood and tressure--to do so. So why, at the moment of it's triumph, did Britain throw up it's hands and bail?

I don’t believe I used present tense. Very much past tense- centuries ago if not millennia. Not always “forced” but certainly send missionaries to convert.
Force was definitely used in the distant past, but there is nothing in the NT that endorses or commands such behavior. Christians are to preach the Gospel, the Good News, not force people to change their religious allegiance.
As a 60 yr old American Jew, I have had Christian friends try to save me by leaving pamphlets from Messianic Jews to giving me an audio tape lecture about why Jesus is the messiah. In contrast, I never asked them to become Jewish. I never even asked my husband to convert to Judaism.
They usually take their kids to church without asking them if they want to go. They don't wait until they are adults and can make their own informed decision.

I think that the BBC is too focused on British guilt for the sins of the colonial period. England should be proud of what they brought to the World, in spite of how they did it and the resource extraction. Their motives were extreme business, but also to deliver the benefits of civilization.
What you are talking about having to happen is not going quite far enough. We need to really understand deeply that the motivations that have driven the Palestinian problem represent a very broad and ambitious strategic view that is essentially unequaled. The plan of Iran, Egypt, and others was to convince the entire World of a false view. This took determination, money, and fairly sophisticated strategy to pull off.
An ambitious counter strategy must be to convince the entire Arabic and Islamic World in general that they are hurting themselves in a cause that cannot be won. This entails going back to the seventh century and on for at least a hundred years when the Koran was created. Like all other religions that started with an oral history, Islam followed a similar plan to arrive at their Book, which is claimed to be from the Prophet directly and is perfect and unchangeable. I won't mention why this defies all close examination. Like other ideologies and religions, Islam evolved. There was significant disagreement as to what the final version would look like, and what was emphasized was colored by history during the Arabic conquest of the Hijaz, and much of North Africa, Southern Europe, and Persia, to mention only some of the main areas. This should not be news. Scholars have worked long to arrive at these conclusions and more. Of some importance is that the Muslims and Jews did manage to coexist to some extent in a time when conquering one's neighbors seemed like a good way to move forward. Long before Mohammed, ancient civilizations were doing the raping and killing and burning while acquiring land and resources. Over time, it became convenient to write the Jews out of history, especially their Biblical contributions to the Koran. In a vast area characterized by relatively disorganized and isolated populations, the conquest was working, even into civilized Europe. The Jews; however, had a history of dealing with conflict of such proportions. Their Book was the only one in history that was based upon the experiences of a culture, real people, and real geography. Even the Hebrew language, evolved as it was, and developed in writing for over a thousand years, managed to influence Arabic. The same goes for some of the characters and ideas in this monotheistic achievement. And it was really an achievement; and it really was the Jews who achieved that. No matter what happens in any future, it is the Jews who first developed and accepted the concept of one God.
As a beginning and non-academic and non-Jewish student of the Hebrew language, I believe that I have certain insights. This is also in part due to the fact that I have as a hobby been interested in languages in general for most of my life. I have arrived at the belief that the nomadic life of the Arabic People, combined with an oral tradition underlying the Koran, did not initially result in great sophistication of the language, especially in its written form. Hebrew, on the other hand, has a sophistication that would have been difficult for a seventh century Arab to master. In addition, as today, the Hebrew Book was studied in depth by much of the Jewish leadership to the point that a sophisticated culture of rituals was built around the history, and was adhered to by the Jews. This was in part necessary by the fact that their expulsion by waves of conquerors over time caused many of them to be uprooted. The strength of this culture and its spread to every Jew was also unequaled by any other People. Wherever they went, the Jews kept their culture, even if only in secret. This made them the most outstanding obstacle to the spread of the Muslim ideology. They could be killed; but they could not be defeated as a People. To this day, Islamic ambitions are faced with the same problem of how to conquer the Jews. To the World that has some Jews in every Country, it was easy to blame them for hard times when they came. This is the cause of anti-semitism. The one who does not fit in gets the blame. Christianity also had its role in vilifying the Jews, especially in accusing them of blood libel, as in claiming that, like the Canaanites, they sacrificed young children, especially Christian children to use their blood in their rituals. Many Christians persist in having variations of such beliefs, and thus do further injustice to the Jews.
To get back to my point, I remind that I was talking about the ambitious plan of some Islamic manipulators to miseducate the entire World about Palestine. What I call for is an equally ambitious plan to get the Muslims to admit to what the scholars have learned about the Koran and establish the World's most ambitious plan to get back to as much of the truth as can be discovered and then to educate their Imams and their People about the difference in religion between what we know and what we claim, to maintain our control over our societies. The call to kill all the Jews is not going to help anyone. It will stop human progress that is needed to face the problems of the future. God did not create any people so that they could be killed off. That is nonsense. If you don't believe in God, still, evolution never worked specifically to eliminate any species. The stronger or more fortunate species always emerged without the intent of other species to annihilate them. We try to save many wild animals. We should not balk at saving the Jews. In the same way every culture and Nation and State has to make some ambitious changes to fit into the checkerboard of this small planet. We are not here to kill people. We are here to reach our potential, whatever that may be. Returning to the seventh century and wiping out those who seem to stand in our way is insanity on the large scale. Educated people do not have an appetite for destruction; but they generally do have an appetite to exploit their neighbors. This will be the next problem to solve.

My only question is: Why did Britain so abysmally fail to accomplish the second half of their mandate? They were to create an Arab state and a Jewish state. They DID create the Arab state: Jordan. Mission HALF accomplished. But failed to establish the Jewish state in the remaining half of the land--as was their charge. All sorts of hestitation and excuses but FAILED to complete the mission as charged. So here we are.
Yes, there was Arab violence--but local population violence never deterred the British Empire from creating Pakistan. They laid down the law and got it done, and Pakistan stands (for better or worse). But not for Israel. I don't understand how Britain of all times, wimped out at the most crucial moment for the whole middle east, as it turns out.
Ww1 had just been won, the Ottoman Empire vanquished, was being dismantled, at that moment it would have been a clear understanding that Britain, the vanquor, under the rules of the time, got to set the rules. So, half for Arabs and half for Jews in the British would have had the immediate natural easy-sell appeal of "Even-Steven" split enacted by the winning side, widely understood to have earned the right, in blood and tressure--to do so. So why, at the moment of it's triumph, did Britain throw up it's hands and bail?

1947-48 was an arms embargo in both sides but the british armed the arabs giving Jews no chance

Probably because they had no claim to the land. Zionism started in the 1890s. WW1 ended about 20 years later. Almost no Jew there had any claim to the land. They probably had to keep Palestine long enough for more to move to justify the claim.

Arabic people should leave Gaza, the west bank and Israel to the the Jewish people. There are seven member states of the Arab League in the region: Bahrain, Kuwait, Iraq, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon and the United Arab Emirates. A huge area of the middle east is Arabic. Leave the tiny state of Israel and Gaza to the Jews!
