The BBC used to be a reliable indicator of quality. This has changed so much over the years that now, when I see a report is from the BBC, I ignore it.

The BBC leads a group of many other broadcasters both from inside and outside Europa. I would strongly recommend to have other countries follow this example and have their broadcasters investigated for anti-Israel and antisemitic reporting. In know for my own former home-country, the Netherlands, that this is certainly the case. Both public and commercial broadcasters there have crossed many red lines continuously in their reports. When a Dutch reporter was asked why he had not attended a major press conference where the atrocities of Hamas on the 7th of October were shown, he stated that he made 'different choices' and that he had the right to set his own priorities. Sure...
90% of their news coverage goes to reports about Gaza, which often start with 'so many dead from bombings'' obliterating why Israel was bombing that target in the first place. That is their tactic: simply leaving out essential information. Dutch reports often come straight from Al Jazeera or anti-Israel groups like +972. I caught a report that was a copy paste from +972 to the Dutch public broadcaster. It was not reviewed because that was not possible in the short time frame. It reported on how the IDF 'ripped open the streets of Jenin, and by doing that devastating the lives of innocent citizens', obliterating the essential fact that the IDF does this to search for IED's, booby traps that are hidden under the pavement and therefore constitute a clear threat to the army that conducts a raid against terrorists operating from that place.
By this type of reporting, Israel is framed as evil while actually the opposite is true. Terrorism needs to be uprooted but by this type of reporting it's actually being sugarcoated and explained away. That's criminal....

I don't believe in censorship of free speech, but we have to hold journalists accountable when they have zero journalistic integrity. It is a huge part and parcel of their job description. It should not be something that they can choose to have or not to have. If they are not representing the truth then they do not need to be talking to the public. The state of journalism and media is disgusting and deplorable and opinion-based reporting is essentially the norm when it should be 100% unacceptable unless it is acknowledged to be opinion and not fact.

I've cancelled my licence and simply take care not to watch anything live. I just look at the time stamp on UA-cam programs to check when it was uploaded that I'm not watching it 'live.'

I no longer watch the BBC at all since shortly after October 7. The horrendous bias against Israel was actually making me ill. I subsequently stopped watching terrestrial TV altogether, as the other British channels news wasn’t much better. It’s not just the lies, the skewed facts and exaggerated statistics - it’s the overly emotive tone and language used to describe the situations and events. Only one side is allowed to tug at your heart strings!

BBC bias against Israel is evident even in employees attempts at writing privately about the Middle East.
I read Jeremy Bowen’s book, The Six Day War about 18 years ago ( luckily bought from a charity shop).
The subtitle is along the lines of, The conflict that shaped the Middle East. It should’ve read; How dare you defend yourself Israel. How dare you.
My instant opinion of the book, once I finished it, was that it was an awful piece of work. One sided doesn’t even begin to describe it. Bowen would’ve produced something accurate if he had spent as much time researching his subject matter as he did posing for his cover photograph.
He pays a huge amount of attention to trivia. For example he details how a poor Egyptian, air base commander had to jump headfirst into a ditch , HOLDING HIS COFFEE, as the IAF attacked planes on the ground .
The interviews in the book with Israeli’s are minimal , however, the four or five which appear in the book just happen to be critical of Israel. Not one of those interviewed grasped just how essential it was for Israel to win this conflict to avoid complete annihilation at the hands of the Egyptians and their cohorts.
I seem to remember he pays no or VERY LITTLE ATTENTION to the fact that Egypt was massing their army on the border; that they evicted the UN peace keeping force ; or that Nasser closed the Straits of Tiran to any Israeli shipping, banning travel in the area with the threat of military action.
I have always felt the BBC bias comes from fear and the need for these so called journalists to be part of the in crowd. It’s always been trendy to criticise Israel.
I say fear because if you’re a journalist and you condemn Israel, fine. You’ll not be looking over your shoulder, or worrying about your children travelling to and from school.
War correspondents who even think about reporting fairly where Israel are concerned don’t win industry awards. They’re a disgrace to their profession .

JTV I would suggest the UK get rid of the TV licences and have the Australian model. In 1974 Australia abolished the TV Licence model, but the ABC in Australia is funded by the Australian tax payer. No licences needed in Australia to watch TV.

NPR relies heavily on BBC “news” segments, I suppose this report should lead NPR to no longer receive funding by the U.S. government unless they stop broadcasting BBC news, and additionally address their own bias and sophomoric trappings concerning their reporting about Israel. Sounds like Americans should write to their congress.

I mean I’m a proud Brit/ a Jew and I don’t want them to be pro Israel but I don’t want them to be pro Palestine either I just want them to tell the truth. + I hate paying the tv tax as it’s outdated and if the bbc use a subscription method like every other platform we would get the choice to subscribe if we want bbc and not subscription if we don’t want it.

Compare and contrast their coverage of the Ukraine war against their coverage of Israel. They are clearly rooting for Ukraine in a way that they are not for Israel. I remember their coverage during the Falklands war where, despite, having far less material to worth with, they still managed to convey the news with clarity, respect and dignity.
