I am creating "calm down" area(s) in my art classrooms with activities for temporary isolation of trauma-impacted or unruly students. Have you tried this strategy yourself? I'm very interested in your thoughts. What tips, if any, do you have to share regarding use of such a space while supporting inclusiveness? I teach students of which a high percentage are unable to focus or succeed when seated in a small three-four member group. I tried seating the problem students near my desk, but it turned into a crowd of six or more, which is impracticable for art project creating. I am also working with a restorative justice staff member and administrators on this space to obtain constructive feedback. Thank you for all you do for us!
Hi, Eric! I'm a 1-st year teacher. And I'm so grateful for your videos. Many thanks for sharing the experience, I've started to use it on a regular basis! And my top 1 problem as a newbie is that kids think I'm kind and tend to misbehave at the lessons.
Hi Eric, I’m a new english teacher in Taiwan, i’ve been here for about 4 months now but my God, It was tough at the start my kids were out of control! thankfully my classroom management has been a lot better although i still struggle and have new challenges. Still very grateful for the journey and grateful for your videos :)
Hi Shan! Thank you for your message. It sounds like it's very difficult. One thing that remains true about teaching is that we get better, even if the kids don't. ;) Keep at it and it'll become easier!
Gosh! I'm also a new teacher. And dude I'm not able to control the students honestly. Many a times management has warned me about this. Can you please please help me in classroom management?
Hi Eric, I just watched your video, and I can relate to everything you said in the video. I am a first-year teacher, and one of my biggest challenges is engaging students in the lesson and the need to want them to like me. I struggle with class management a bit, but my skills got better. However, I still have challenges. Thank you for your video, it really helped me.
For me, it's classroom management. I am absolutely struggling with my class I am student teaching. I'm so close to the end but I don't want to just leave them with them being rowdy. I do all of the mistakes, with shouting, and the silent treatment. I have looked at your other videos to try and make myself better. It is a bit harder as a student teacher when my mentor barely helps with me and I make the mistakes a teacher has. I want to make sure I am able to do what I want to when I start my own job as a teacher. Hopefully with my own class, I can plan how I want to.
Thank you for the words of support. I live in Russia and I am the second year teacher, teach private face-to-face and on-line lessons. Your videos and streams help and teach me a lot. You help me to stay self-confident and believe in myself. Precious tips! I am really happy that I've met you.
Hello Eric, I just watched this video and I wrote down everything that you've mentioned, however I think this is one of the best videos i've seen about teaching 💕and I want to mention that I'm a new English teacher " this is my first year" so I'll try to apply everything you've mentioned and I guess it'll pay off for sure, so thank you so much teacher Eric
I am a new teacher.I have 3 students in my class. My biggest challenge is the student engagement and lesson flow. I spend all night making my own lesson plan. My glow part is making activity. My student don't like lesson time and they find it boring. They only enjoy learning with my activity.I feel so down when I don't find any progress in their learning.I feel like I'm not doing the great job for them.
My problem is that I have to start teaching in high schools with no pedagogical or practical training (it's standard to start with that after 1-2 years of teaching on upper secondary school level in the country I live in). This means that I have almost no knowledge about the practical aspects of teaching. This is the reason I really appreciate your videos, because they're specific enough to be useful to a beginner like myself.
I'm grateful for your words, it's the type of video I needed to watch for keeping up doing what I like to do, Teaching. I'm in my social service from the university and I'm teaching English to young learners, and let me tell you that it's been so difficult because one of the toughest things I'm facing are my students absences, they don't always attend to classes and sometimes I also feel disappointed for all the issues that are around me, but you have helped me to understand things I couldn't get before.
My greatest challenge is classroom management, especially with the young children. I teach English in Japan and getting small children to follow simple directions as a whole week after week is always been a challenge. There are always one or two kids that would rather run around the room or crawl under the table than follow along with the lesson.
Hello Eric, thank you for your videos, my challenge is how do I schedule for a 1hour 30 minutes class session, what activities can i do to keep my learners engaged, my new school does not offer scheduled activities, i have to work them out on my own. I'm having a challenge because where i used to teach we had 30minutes sessions for each lesson.
Thank you so, so much for this! I'm at my first year being a school teacher and some of the things you said were really meaningful to me. One challenge that I have is structuring my materials and organizing stuff ahead of time. It always feels like I'm late and that I don't have enough time.
Yes, it's difficult to get ourselves to do something. I would suggest putting 1 hour aside where you will only lesson plan per week. Find a quite place, free of distractions, grab a coffee, put away your phone and knuckle down. 😄 I have the same problem to focus, so I go to a study cafe with people around me.
Thank you so much Eric for your helpful videos. Keep it up ✌️ One of my biggest challenges is balancing the different learning needs of students. As each one's level differs from the other.

Hello teacher.Thank you for all your help.I really appreciate 😊.My biggest problem is that I'm teaching English as a foreign language in the primary school, and I'm supposed to speak English only,so how can I explain the instructions 😢
Hi Eric.... I'm from India and have been watching your videos for few weeks you r amzing... I'm a new teacher of kinderwing in my school. I have some problems that how to get understand the students about the lesson exactly... Some students are very much naghty how to handle them.. And how to work finish my class work like diary work and class work... I'm so slow now a days..

Hi Eric.I am a first year teacher.I have 5 students which I teach them English at my home.I have a problem with 2 of them.they aren't very interested in learning actually their mom forced them to come to the class.how can I make them interested in learning?

@@etacude Thank you for your videos!!! You know, I have just started watching your videos. I think that when you explain you speak as if there are your students in front of you and it is really good, at least, for me. 😁😁😁 I hope to get more success thanks to your videos.
Hi there. I am a english teaching student in university and I am an observer since a month ago without any experience.I have taught some parts of the book in the class but i haven't done it well.my voice is low i cant speak loudly in public and i cant make a good realationship with the students. I am confused i dont know what I should do.I all time think about it that my teaching in that tow session was awful so that students dont accept me and respect me anymore.please, I really need someone tells me something that can help me.
I'm not a teacher yet i still study English at the university . I haven't got the chance to teach yet . and i really don't know where to start because due to pandemic we didnt study much . our univeristy studies are mainly about English literature and history linguistics...etc which I enjoy studying but I dont see how they are going to help since we never tackled how we cshould teach ESL i feel lost......
When I was writing down everything in China, even teachers looked at me in a weird manner... I do not know why buy the fact that I was always writing maybe irritated them a bit. 😂😂😂

Don't worry. Write it on the board, go slowly and give them examples and lots of practice. That should make it a bit easier. Good luck, Smaoui!

"If a student ask me a question and I don't know the answer and he won't respect me or trust me anymore."
This is my biggest fear.
Teachers don't always have the answers but if you don't know it is alright to tell them and maybe they will respect you for the truth.
This is all true!!! The thing which we have to do is to be prepared psychologically and to stay calm in any emotional storm outside... 😂😂😂
Thank you for your kind comments, Happy! II'll continue to try and make useful content!
