  • Scout's turn on the channel! Soap & Clay Kidlet #2 joins me today to talk about her hair type and the shampoo bar we use on her hair.
    This recipe is a hot process shampoo bar recipe and leans heavily on a few key ingredients that are great for dry, damaged hair and/or dandruff and dry scalp. These ingredients are karanja oil, jojoba oil, and beer. Because booze is awesome in beer. Watch the vid for the rest of the ingredients, including the clays, extracts, essential oils, and all that jazz.
    If you're interested in these shampoo bars, you can find them on the website!

    Soap & Clay is a family owned business operating in Washington State, but started out online thanks to Mrs. Soap & Clay's kickass brother and his amazing web design skills. The business was started as a tribute to Mrs. Soap & Clay's grandmother, the OG maker in the family that cultivated everyone's love for the DIY life. The studio/retail shop opened in 2017 on 6th Ave in Tacoma, and immediately began teaching soap, bath bomb, lotion, and scrub classes to the makers and maker enthusiasts of the PNW. In 2019, the pottery studio opened as well, making the soap shop a busy place full of artistic energy every minute of the day.
    Mrs. Soap & Clay has been featured on Business Spotlight, New Day Northwest, and was awarded a coveted place on the South Sound's 40 under 40 list in 2019, an award given to the most influential business people under the age of 40 each year. She cried when she walked up to the podium to accept the award. A lot.
    Drawing from her chemistry background and her maker spirit, Mrs. Soap & Clay infuses her favorite things into her soapy designs and creates products that are fun to see, use, and learn to make. Stick around for this ride - she'll take you on a great one.

    I went to your website to buy some of this soap, but it’s not active. ☹️
    Supply shortages and skyrocketing prices are hitting hard where I live (rural Alaska). I am trying to learn how to do stuff since things are becoming harder to get.
    Thank you for all your videos!

    I was a bit confused on the amounts on all the ingredients....sorry...I am a little slow. First time going to try HP.
    I watched the video 3 times and still couldn't figure it out. In the dialog, you mention Karanja, Quran, Kuran, Carranza oils, and also Crown Royal...are they all the same thing...and is it 5%?
    Also, how much sodium lactate, kaolin clay and essential oils are used? I just by accident found your UA-cam site....what a delight for me. Thank you so much 😊
    p.s. your daughter is so cute.

    Your Kidlets are too cute! I just have a question, what was the total weight of the oils in the recipe? I have the percentages and think i may have figured out the total weight, but I wanted to check and make sure, I believe its a 32 oz oil recipe, but.... Thank you again for sharing, I definitely want to delve more into the natural bars rather than the Syndet and want to give this a shot, may do a half batch and will probably be doing a cold process rather than the hot, but both are really awesome! I have my little 16x24 studio, so extras like a microwave and crock pot would take up much valuable real estate at this time since my office and supply shelves are all in here. May share some pictures of my happy place:) Thank you again!!

    Hi I really loved your video as I'm just starting to do my own soaps I was wondering how you start the soaping process? I couldn't find any caustic soda in your video so I was wondering what saponifies the oils? Your Online Shop is very cool too! Congrats!

    • @MrsSoapAndClay
      @MrsSoapAndClay  4 роки тому +1

      Hi! Thanks for watching! All soaps need some form of caustic to saponify; I usually don’t show the mixing of the lye in the water to keep the videos shortish. But yes - always need lye. :)

      I don’t cook my beer down, but you certainly can (and should if you haven’t made a beer soap before). Types can change the acceleration, ricing, etc.
