- Scout's turn on the channel! Soap & Clay Kidlet #2 joins me today to talk about her hair type and the shampoo bar we use on her hair.
This recipe is a hot process shampoo bar recipe and leans heavily on a few key ingredients that are great for dry, damaged hair and/or dandruff and dry scalp. These ingredients are karanja oil, jojoba oil, and beer. Because booze is awesome in beer. Watch the vid for the rest of the ingredients, including the clays, extracts, essential oils, and all that jazz.
If you're interested in these shampoo bars, you can find them on the website!

Soap & Clay is a family owned business operating in Washington State, but started out online thanks to Mrs. Soap & Clay's kickass brother and his amazing web design skills. The business was started as a tribute to Mrs. Soap & Clay's grandmother, the OG maker in the family that cultivated everyone's love for the DIY life. The studio/retail shop opened in 2017 on 6th Ave in Tacoma, and immediately began teaching soap, bath bomb, lotion, and scrub classes to the makers and maker enthusiasts of the PNW. In 2019, the pottery studio opened as well, making the soap shop a busy place full of artistic energy every minute of the day.
Mrs. Soap & Clay has been featured on Business Spotlight, New Day Northwest, and was awarded a coveted place on the South Sound's 40 under 40 list in 2019, an award given to the most influential business people under the age of 40 each year. She cried when she walked up to the podium to accept the award. A lot.
Drawing from her chemistry background and her maker spirit, Mrs. Soap & Clay infuses her favorite things into her soapy designs and creates products that are fun to see, use, and learn to make. Stick around for this ride - she'll take you on a great one.

What a gorgeous little girl! She has one of those infectious smiles that just spreads joy 😍😊
I love how you break down the ingredients and explain exactly why you chose them. Very cool, super informative, really digging your channel.
I found you not too long ago and you are just amaziiiingggg. Thank you for all you do, your wisdom, generosity and time.
I made this shampoo but cold process. I really love it. Its works very well for me...no more dandruff. Thank you Ellen. God bless you abundantly.
What recipe did you use? I can't recognise some of the measurements from the video
What did you decide on Superfat?
@@SteadfastTrailFarm i usually don’t superfat as the soap will turn rancid faster.
@@roxybella6305 i follow up exactly her recipe as mentioned in the video.
@@audreystar4868 ok thank you!!I have one at 3% for oily hair one at 5% or normal to curly hair and one at 7% for damaged frizzy hair . Each recipe is different for oils I use as well. But still in the testing stage!
I love your videos! They are so informative and have helped me have the confidence to try making stuff too. Thank you. Is there a place I can find the recipe written out in full so I can source materials?
I went to your website to buy some of this soap, but it’s not active. ☹️
Supply shortages and skyrocketing prices are hitting hard where I live (rural Alaska). I am trying to learn how to do stuff since things are becoming harder to get.
Thank you for all your videos!
Kidlet # 2 is adorable!
How am I just now seeing this 😍🥰 Scout is so sweet and those blue eyes 😻
I was a bit confused on the amounts on all the ingredients....sorry...I am a little slow. First time going to try HP.
I watched the video 3 times and still couldn't figure it out. In the dialog, you mention Karanja, Quran, Kuran, Carranza oils, and also Crown Royal...are they all the same thing...and is it 5%?
Also, how much sodium lactate, kaolin clay and essential oils are used? I just by accident found your UA-cam site....what a delight for me. Thank you so much 😊
p.s. your daughter is so cute.
Some of the measurements I couldn't see. Could you post the recipe of the ingredients and measurements here?
Your Kidlets are too cute! I just have a question, what was the total weight of the oils in the recipe? I have the percentages and think i may have figured out the total weight, but I wanted to check and make sure, I believe its a 32 oz oil recipe, but.... Thank you again for sharing, I definitely want to delve more into the natural bars rather than the Syndet and want to give this a shot, may do a half batch and will probably be doing a cold process rather than the hot, but both are really awesome! I have my little 16x24 studio, so extras like a microwave and crock pot would take up much valuable real estate at this time since my office and supply shelves are all in here. May share some pictures of my happy place:) Thank you again!!
Hi I really loved your video as I'm just starting to do my own soaps I was wondering how you start the soaping process? I couldn't find any caustic soda in your video so I was wondering what saponifies the oils? Your Online Shop is very cool too! Congrats!
Hi! Thanks for watching! All soaps need some form of caustic to saponify; I usually don’t show the mixing of the lye in the water to keep the videos shortish. But yes - always need lye. :)
I can't the recipe, unless it's the percentages but I'm not good with that. If you can write it down in ounces or grams I would great appreciate it. I would love to try this bar si
since I have dry, damaged hair.
Me too!!
Your daughter is fun 💞 and I see where she gets it from.
Aww they look alike I honestly thought that was #1
Do you use an acid rinse in her hair after shampooing? Also does she use conditioner of any kind? My daughter has the same hair type and would like to make her some to try out
Hey! No vinegar rinse, and she does use conditioners. I have the recipes in the channel somewhere! 😂
Do you have this recipe written out anywhere? I'd love to try it.
On the discord!
@@MrsSoapAndClay I'm a complete newbie and don't know what discord is? 🤣
following….. I couldn’t find the recipe & don’t know what ‘On the discord’ means 😅
Hi, is there a written recipe for this?
OMGoddess! SHES so cute!
Would hemp be a good additional super fat for this?
Hemp would be great for this!
what a cutie, and I love your videos
Do you use fresh beer or cook it down? Does it matter the type of beer?
I don’t cook my beer down, but you certainly can (and should if you haven’t made a beer soap before). Types can change the acceleration, ricing, etc.
Am I missing the recipe? Are you sharing that? Written?
Do you want me to source your materials and make it for you too? 😂 If I said there’s a recipe, there’s a recipe. But to expect one is so entitled.
Oh, I’m super genuinely sorry… I wasn’t trying to be rude or snotty. I am just starting to make soap and am trying to figure out recipes.. I googled recipe and your video came up and I was asking because I could figure it out. Please forgive me.
@@menotyou1161 normally she has a written recipe but this one is verbal and %. I also thought she was going to put the recipe as before on other videos in written form.
She's adorable
