Very informative, Justin. I have a 2016 automatic and was bothered by the V4 to V8 mode. The transmission would go back and forth between modes. I purchased a Range unite, that blocked AFM from going back and forth between modes. It works. I don't notice much gas savings loss. I also added an On/Off switch. It plugs into the OBD port, in seconds, will not void warranty, and is untraceable
I recently subscribed to your channel because of its informative nature . One of the few channels that’s just not just all BS. THATS FOR THE GOOD WORK !! KEEP PUGGING AND MAKE THIS CHANNEL GROW!!
Excellent presentation! I forgot most of those. Probably because I would never use them. But reminded of the Nav on the Dic displayed. I will use that. Sometimes out here in AZ where I do some hard driving I could use it to see the direction of upcoming curve directions right or left. A lot roads here have a rise and you don't know if you will be going left or right when you get to the top for a proper view. Thanks.
Another great Vlog Justin! Hey, I noticed you didn't display how to get into the Launch Mode when you were going through Track mode. Real simple, tap the trac control twice like you did. Go to Sport 1 or 2. Press the brakes firmly then the gas, then release the brakes on the Automatics. Not sure if you press the brakes or the clutch on the 7 speed??? Also, my new Ford Explorer, yeah I have a Ford. It also displays the actual tire pressure PSI as well. General Lee Out!
Nice, I got the 2014 Stingray 3LT Convertible right when it came out and now I find out it has a trunk release button? Guess I should have read more of the manual. THANKS FOR THE INFO!
@@HorsePowerObsessed I'll have to send you a link to one of my new videos for our Rescue-Mate products when I complete it.....not so much targeted at Corvette owners, but I had fun with this one. Check this out..... my 2014 C7 battery finally failed in Feb, 2019. It was down to 2.75 Vdc, wouldn't even open the doors of course. I used my cell phone to start the C7 engine, AND only used 20% of the battery power. Is that amazing or what? Just did it as a demo for our product, not so much to target Corvette owners. Cheers!
Great video as always my friend! I think our cars have too much technology 😂. When I took delivery last August, I told my sales tech to put on Sport mode n leave the nannies on 😂. I plan on messing around with a bit when I take da beast out of hibernation lol
Thank you! I can't wait to get mine out of hibernation either! I'm pretty familiar with it but I plan on messing around just as much as the next guy! 😁👍
Very informative video Jason. I don't think anyone has gone into the detail you've done with what is really "hidden," or totally available, in the Vette's electronic magiccry. Heck, it took me two years to figure out how to activate the home link to my garage door openers and three years to do the bluetooth linkup. lol As to the rev matching, now this I think is an amazing option/bit of magic. What I'm curious about, is that I know how it works with downshifting and boy does it work, but what about up shifting? Could you literally keep your pedal to the metal with the rev match acting like a rev limiter, or is the rev match literally just for down shifting? Lastly, with cylinder deactivation/Eco Mode, does this mode only flip between 8 and 4 cylinders? No 6 cylinders? I only ask in that before your time Cadillac had a similar feature with what was known as their 8-6-4 motor. Depending on the road conditions and how heavy, or light, your foot was, the computer would decide either 8, 6 or 4 cylinders, not just 8 or 4 cylinders. Save the Wave.
The rev matching actually does work in up shifts or down shifts. What you're talking about is more considered no lift shift. That is basically when you keep your foot to the floor in between shifts and shift very quickly. That basically keeps the boost built and doesn't allow it to vent in between shifts. That's basically an option to get the best times possible in the manual. If you want to just experienced the rev matching in a normal up shift you will just go from 3rd to 4th or whatever gear in a normal shifting speed and you literally don't even have to touch the gas to do it because the car automatically puts it at the right RPM and allows it to come out smooth. As for the cylinder deactivation it is just 8 or 4 nothing in between.
Thanks Jason. I really must get out more. lol You know it as "no lift" shifting, I know it as speed or power shifting from back in the day. Many a clutch and trans was sacrificed in developing one's skill to power shift. You "kids" today don't know how lucky you all are. Why, when I was your age I had to walk to school, three miles each way, through wind, heat, cold, rain and snow. I guess that's how I learned I didn't want to become a mail man. LOL It looks like Mother Nature has given us a small window of better weather here in the Northeast. Get out and enjoy your ride.
I'm going to say this not as a disrespectful thing but something that is the norm here with c7 z06. Here as in the forums and youtube. It's like you educate yourself instead of know. Race mode doesn't turn everything off and it's not for the drag strip at all. You can be in tour mode and turn straight line traction control off. Okay so if you're at the drag strip and you want to go as fast as possible in a straight line there will be no difference in just selecting basic track and hitting button one time. If you go into race for a straight line all you're doing is making it where it could kick out without nannies helping keep you straight. Say if you make a mistake and start spinning hard on 1 2 shift. So if in track and 1 press your butt is saved but if track and race then probably not saved. Unless you correct yourself. Race is for road course and it'll still kick in. Granted gives you some slip angle but still helping you not spin out. Everything off is long hold. UA-cam is full of great content creators such as yourself but you can tell there's a level of understanding that missing and nothing wrong with that. You probably don't even go to the track and if you do slower just for fun pace. I use my z06 for time attack and when I hear people talk about it I'd be so happy to hear you say I don't really understand all this but basically this is how it works. So some new guy doest jump in and go to the drag strip and smash a wall when he has the potential to be in a mode which will not slow him down at all in straight but save him when he makes a mistake.
Can you change driving mode with the engine off and save it? And then turn on the car and be in that mode? I ask this because some times i was in Tour, but next morning i want to have the cold start on track mode. Thanks for support
My display goes black and comes back on from time to time. I've seen a lot of people describing the same, but no real resolution. Any thoughts? The HUD goes off at the same time. Thanks
Sounds like the cable that connects the screen to the main interface may be going bad. This is a common problem with these cars and the only fix is replacing the screen/cable.
Just went on a track day and it was was raining heavily. I put it in the normal wet mode. I had very little traction even like this. Would you recommend going into the special wet track mode instead? I’m not sure I would want the tc off even.
You could try using "weather" mode but honestly, it's different for everyone. Everybody has a different level of confidence in different situations and different modes. Just try everything until you find one that works well for how you drive.
Hey great video. Quick question. I just bought a 2014 z51 and I’m familiarizing with the controls and my ax/heat fan seems to be blowing on high and I can’t control the fan speed with the knob. Everything else in the ac/heat seems to be working including sync mode. Just the fan knob has no response. Is there something I need to do to manually control the fan.
Thanks for your video. I just bought my 14 Stingray in August of 22. The cellular carriers have disabled 2/3g so my car cannot connect to WiFi at my home or to OnStar. Is there a way to update my car so it can be 4g capable?
There likely is, but the cost wouldn't be worth it. The modules needed to upgrade would be expensive and wouldn't give you much more functionality than you have now.
Could you answer this for me if you can I put Marimoto tail lights and now the left one blinks at2x’s the speed all else is good four way normal , right side normal.
I have a 2018 grand sport and I always receive text messages or display says low washer fluid. My problem is not knowing how to reset the low fluid message after refilling or text messages. Thanking you in advance Cliff

Yes I had a 2015 Z06 and now moved on to a 2019 ZR1. There is a difference from track on the 2015 to 2019. I'll show the difference on camera and some more detailed PTM info as well.
Bummer your car doesn’t display posted speed and actual speed in the HUD that all I use. Very handy when driving through small towns where is changes frequently
In a manual just stay out of eco mode but in an auto you need a device to stop the car from automatically going into that mode. Let me know if you want the link to that device.
Now that’s got to be the most stupid thing I ever heard cylinder deactivation 4 to 8 to 4 to 8 to 4 cylinders the cylinders are still going up and down even if they don’t get no spark and gas wow no wonder I see a lot of corvettes for sale hahahahaha

V4 mode in the manual transmission is only in gears 4 through 7. It will not go into V4 mode in the 1st three gears.
Good to know! I thought it was only 7th gear originally.

In tour or sport mode, yes, but not track mode. If you drive the car in track and then shut it off it will go back to Tour.
