Hello again, I'm very impressed with your planning. After I acquired a copy of the Gleisplan book, I have been making plans for M-Track layouts with SCARM. Your new layout was one of my favorites, although I'm not a big fan of dead end stations.
Thanks! I wasn't sure about the terminal station either, but decided to include it in the end. We'll see how that goes... Thanks for spending some of your valuable time on the channel.
@@The3rdRail I always enjoy your videos, as they are both entertaining and educational. I haven't made any progress with my layouts, but have gotten into more DC French & British rolling stock. There is another another plan I liked (Marklin 0700 13 M-Track) and converted to C-track in 2 layers to put onto/into my IKEA shelves. It has 2 loops, a 5-track station (with the longest track being 2.4 m long) & a 7-track shadow station that can store 2.5 -3.2 m long trains. One could also add a turntable and/or transfer table to either end...
This layout video was the inspiration for implementing a serious extension to my current tabletop layout! Including 'hosentrager' crossing, 2 direction main loop tracks (C-rail R2/R4) Thanks for the inspiration ;-)
AWESOME!!! I don't have room in my current house for anything other than a small, temporary layout. However, I'm looking to be moving to a bigger house soon, and will have more than adequate room to create a layout. I had completely forgotten about the track planning book from the 1970s. Thank you!!!
Wonderful to see the progress. We’ve been looking at this layout and the extensions and mods make perfect sense. You’ve managed to pack quite some inspiring ideas into this upload as well. Enjoy the build!
there is also an attempt at recreating the plan on Railmodeller pro (community layouts), the name of the layout is "1984 Catlogue M-Track 3 layers". You can view it here too: modelrailwayideas.com/1984Catalogue_Mtrack_3Layers.html
Hello! Kind of a off-topic question, but i recently bought a märklin 3048 Br 01, Today i went for a quick ride and it when i tried to reverse it it just stopped, i keep hearing the noise when you shift, but it makes 0 movement, the lights are still on, even when i tried shifting again nothing happens, the lights just keep burning and i can't drive. I checked if this was the issue with the track but it wasn't. I found no videos or forums about this issue, do you maybe have any clue? Kind Regards Mr E
Hi, I'd first check the driving wheels can turn freely in both directions. If they don't, there might be some debris stuck in one of the gears, or there might be something more serious going on with the wheels and axles. If everything is ok, then 2 things come to mind: - Check the reverser, it should be a drum type with leaf springs, one of them might not be making contact with the drum. - check the wires between the motor windings and the armature cover plate are both still connected to the motor plate. They are very thin wires and sometimes one of them can break or become detached from the solder joint. Good luck.
@@The3rdRail Just looked into it, when i try to reverse it the shifter locks into neutral and doesn’t go back. When i try to shift it manually (when its off) it doesn’t lock. I tried to pull it back when it goed on and succesfully shifts. So the problem is that it just locks itself in neutral. What could be the cause?
@@The3rdRail When i push it when its off, its jumps back easy, when its on, you feel some force on it. So unfortunate i think its somehting inside the gearbox
Nice lay-out in the book but you made a very nice and multi functional one with the extentions. Good luck with the planning of the autom ation a nd electrics. I will follow you. Is the layout already avaiable on Railmodeller? What “therm” i can look for?

a nice plan, great presentation, greetings Kai👍👍👌👌😊😊
Danke für den Besuch!
When you showed the original layout plan I got a "I remember that book" feeling. :-)
😀👍
I will follow this process with joy, as I did with your latest build!
Thanks a lot!
Excellent modifications! I love the electric depot add-on. Bon chance!

no problem, glad you like it.
Can’t wait to see the new layout. I just like Marklin from the 70’s and 80’s.
Thanks, stay tuned.
Yes indeed. For me, from the mid 1960s to mid 1970s
Looks like a great new layout - lots of fun! Enjoy ;-)
Many thanks!
Very cool, thanks for sharing, love that you added a second reversing loop and 2nd full loop in the end and the depot looks like a lot of fun!
Thank you very much!
Nice video I‘ll follow your next steps.
Glad you you liked it.
A really great layout and great modifications!
Thanks you very much

Love your videos. Had an M-track layout as a child and I'm tempted to go back. Missing the noise ...
go for it 😉
Nice plan!
Glad you think so!
Great explanation and ideas to give colour to the new layout. Going to be difficult to top the existing layout, but I’m sure you will do it😁
Fingers crossed...
Hello, very nice layout plan, very different from the previous one.
Thanks, is that a good thing?
👍👍👍
🙏🙏🙏
I like your current layout. But good luck with the new build! My current layout could use something...
Thanks a lot.
Great video :) - I woud love to see the track plan for the multi level layout shown at 2:44. You dont know where i might find it by any chance :D
in the 1984 or 1985 catalogue I think... It is not detailed.
@@The3rdRail thx you were right. found it. its not that detailed but all three levels are shown so the general layout is there😁.
