I've been painting trees for years but your videos on trees are priceless. They have reminded me that there is always room to grow. Thanks Stephen 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
I've been an artist since I've been old enough to scribble and have worked as a freelance artist for some time now. I'm glad you've made these teaching videos, as i'm learning a lot of stuff I either have forgotten or I've not learned! THANK YOU!
Stephen, recently retired and have now time for some drawing…. My trees have become believable and not quite lifelike, but on their way… all thanks to your instruction. ❤
Wonderful! Your ability to explain what you are doing in a way that invites others along is mind blowing and heart warming. I am just starting at drawing, but you make it possible for me to draw stuff I like looking at already.
great information, thank you for helping me see trees better! excited to use the learnings you mentioned faces in the first tree, to me as i was looking at the dark areas of the first tree I noticed the "eyes" about half way down on the left and then the mouth, when I pulled my view back the tree became the Harry Potter Sorting Hat 😂 Thank you for all your videos, as an older, just starting, self-taught art student, mentors/teachers like you who make these videos are so appreciated! .
Thank you ... trees are hard! I noted that you get the shape and proportion of the tree layed out before you get the trunk and limbs put in. I thoroughly enjoy your videos.
@stephentraversart Thanks for sharing the link. I highly appreciate it.I will watch all the videos on this playlist. Probably there are some important points in these videos...🙏🙏🙏
Thank you Patrick. This is what I was hoping would happen. If you could tell your friends about my channel that would help me as well. All the best with your drawing. 😀
@@stephentraversart Will do so! I just tried to draw a landscape with trees in your style. If you like, I send it to you 👍😁 (Email?) There is no way to show photos here on UA-cam…
I am currently learning how to paint with watercolours. I am liking line drawing and painting. Your drawing lessons are so helpful. My drawing skills are not as accurate as they need to be. Your tutorials and observation skills are exactly what I need to improve. My sister in Canada is wanting to do sketching so I am forwarding a couple of your tutorials to her. Ones I think she would appreciate and try herself. Thank you for sharing. ✨🎨
Great and useful video! 9:12 A dog/wolf at the lower right corner. 😆 Why you start form middle when drawing the first tree, but start from the contour at the second tree? (Sorry, I'm not good in English)
Haha! Yes, I see it! I drew each tree starting from the part I thought would be easiest to keep things in proportion from. Because the first tree was simpler in shape, I thought it might be harder to get overall in scale, so I started in the centre to keep the proportions of the shadow areas tighter. I thought the second tree shape was easier to keep in proportion, so top down was ok. Whatever will work best with your thought processes is best I think. 😀
I like your concept of “The Leaf Attachment Structure” and found it useful. I am starting to feel more comfortable drawing trees with the help of your videos, thank you! 🎉. P.S. I didn’t find any lurking, smirking or smiling faces in my drawing when I finished! 🥸.

Thanks Samiyrah. I painted them for ten years before I drew them. It’s great preparation. 😀
Gonna give this a try. Your trees look nice and you can definitely see they are very different trees.
Well, I’ve put the photos up on my Community Page, so why not have a go😀

Great to hear Kath. Trees are such a good subject. Have you see my tree (and all things foliage) playlist?😀
@stephentraversart thanks Stephen.... I'm working my way through them

Brilliant demo Stephen!
Thanks Bob. Are you going to give it a go yourself?😀

Thanks. Yes, I’ve found it much easier to get proportions etc more accurate doing it that way. 😀
Another great video on a superb topic drawing trees. Both the trees that were sketched by you look beautiful. Thank you for this tutorial...🙏🙏🙏
Thanks Kashi. Have you seen my trees playlist ua-cam.com/play/PLwjv2r1KZs1T6N8jxkM-M6r8m3_hX1Q1v.html

Glad to be of help in this Marion. Drawing skills do seem to work well with watercolour. I hope to discover that when I take up watercolour shortly. 😀
Nice explanation ⭐
Great you think so. Thanks 😀
Love these - gonna give them a try.
Excellent 👏
Great and useful video!
