With the news yesterday that ford will be discontinuing all small vehicles in the North America except for the Ford Mustang and Ford Focus Active.
This is my opinion about ford no longer selling the ford fusion, focus, fiesta, taurus, and c-max in North America. I think cutting production of these small cars is devastating but makes perfect sense and here is why.
Let me know in the comments section below how you feel about ford discontinuing the fusion, focus, fiesta, taurus, and c max here in north america

As for Ford's car lines currently being outdated, Ford did that to themselves. Their cars are mere placeholders for sales people to point at and say "hey, this Edge gets almost as good of mileage as that Fusion!". That is BY DESIGN. Ford is CHOOSING not to sell a competitive product in their car lines currently. As a fan and buyer of Ford CARS, it's disgusting to me.

my problem with people buying SUV for "space" is really only to put more trash in their cars. i worked at a nissan dealer and i valet at disney, currently working at infiniti and these big suv are either full of trash or empty. i just dont see how they're a trend

    • @TechnationXyz

Unfortunately, Ford pre-killed the focus and fiesta via the dual-clutch transmission, which they continue to sell as "an automatic." Many of us never knew about this skirmish, but we find out once we look at consumer reports and customer reviews. Even if you have a manual-shift or the 6f15 transmission as I do, it's tough to sell a used Focus for this reason, and I'm told the problem never got fixed. Some of it is customer perception. The Taurus went away, and on return is a different car from what it used to be. And the C-max? Even my local dealer assented, most buyers don't even know what C-max is!

Ok I understand, nobody is suggesting Ford sedans anymore. But still at least continue to build the Focus ST, Focus RS, and Feista ST. That is the real problem. There are always enthusiasts that want fun cars

Crazy news. I think suvs are ugly, and the handling tradeoff isn't worth it. Few people need the ground clearance (most never see anything but pavement. ) As far as the 4x4/awd I live in michigan and we get snow but a fwd car with snow tires is more than adequate and shits all over 4x4's with all season rubber.

I felt disgusted when I first heard about it. I have a 2017 Ford Focus ST (ST2) in Kona Blue, and thank goodness, when I bought my vehicle this past April 2018, I was able to buy the extended warranty from 3yr/36,000 to 5yr/60,000 mile warranty and I also bought the Maintenance Package as well, which covers my vehicle for free oil changes, wiper changes, brake changes, clutch changes, etc... I hope ford will take care of my vehicle after 2020 as it is good until 2022. I love that I don't have to pay anything when I get oil changes and the one that I had done a month or so ago, I already had 10,000 miles on it and it needed new wipers (front & back), the engine air filter was changed, eventually, the spark plugs, brake pads & rotors(front & rear), and cabin air filter will be changed and all that needs to be replaced for free within the Maintenance Package. I love my ST and I feel that I will have this vehicle for more than 5 years or so. I just wish they can do the recent recall on my vehicle soon. It's so difficult keeping the gas on the midline overtime I drive my vehicle. What do you think about the current recall?

    • @TechnationXyz
      @TechnationXyz  5 років тому

You got some good stuff on yours! I love mine too don't plan to get rid of it anytime soon. And that recall is Interesting I've been wanting to make a video on it. I'm probably going to get this recall done on mine.

I understand that Ford should want to ditch some small European models like the Fiesta and C-Max. But the Fusion and the Taurus? Okay, they no longer look like classic American cars (more like Aston Martin imitations) but they're decent 4-door sedans. I hope we'll keep the Mondeo in Europe.

  • @TwinkyX

Stupid move. I own a 2012 Fusion (and owned a 2007 Fusion) and both are incredible cars. They are/were reliable, solidly built, roomy and fun to drive. Gas prices here in Connecticut are already averaging close to $3.00 / gallon. I'm not about to buy an 8-cylinder truck when I don't need it. Plus the Fusion is sexier. My Honda Accord was a piece of crap - cheaply made, and loaded with problems (unusual for a Honda - but I would not buy one now after the problems and Honda's lame response). I was planning on buying a new Fusion, but NOT NOW. Back to Toyota Camry.

I have been a long time Ford Buyer...I have never owned anything other than Fords..My tin God,when they were still making them was the Thunderbird...I have owned 22 of them since 1968...about half of them new....Ford started to lose my loyalty when the discontinued the Thunderbird in 1997(I will not even include in this discussion the bastard 2002-2006 "retro birds")...One thing it seems that Ford has NEVER understood and still doesn`t til this day is the concept of "repeat buyers"...I am one of the few who bought no less than 5 of the last T-birds built on the MN12 platform(1989-1997)...the argument Ford used in 1997 when they discontinued the Thunderbird and its sister the Cougar was that sales had fallen off....NO SWINGING SHIT...Those two cars had been in the exact same body style at that time for nearly a decade...The same is now true of the Focus/Taurus/Fusion....With today`s car prices..NO ONE is going to re-buy basically the same car every 2 or 3 years...Long story short...Ford doesn`t want to spend the money to update or change these cars...It is interesting to note that Toyota(Ford`s main competitor) has completely redesigned the Camry no less than 3 times in the last 5 years....Obviously...Ford only wants to sell SUV`s and Trucks...well they WILL NOT be selling one to me!

I think what a lot of people are confused about is, they are keeping cars outside the u.s.a. so I mean if they did need to bring cars back, they could just import them. Outside the U.S., they have more relaxed emissions, so there is a large benefit to buying a small car (and the roads are smaller). But, ford should be smark like vw, and Honda. They should build vehicles on a platform. You can build a crossover, suv, or car off of it. Then it doesn't matter what the trend is, you have a good platform (including powertrain options) that can be built to order.

I also read the article on Yahoo and it did say that they are going to get rid of the sedans and hatchbacks, like the Taurus, Fusion, Fiesta, and the REGULAR Focus. The Focus ST isn't going away. But, remember, the Focus ST isn't made here in the US, it's components and mechanical interior and exterior is made in Germany and Spain, but its just assembled in Michigan, but the components and mechanics are made in Germany and Spain. Although, the Focus RS is just made and assembled in Germany. Our Focus ST & Focus RS will hopefully be worth more because they are not officially made in the United States. But, they are just getting rid of the Regular Ford Focus and Ford Fiesta's, not like the cars that we currently have. The Ford Focus RS will only be in the US for 1 more year and then it will be returned to Germany, and also with the Ford Focus ST, only a few years to go, so I figured that our vehicles will be worth more because everyone would want to buy it once it's gone in the United States. I think these 2 vehicles we currently either have or just the ST and/or RS, are made and built differently compare to the other american vehicles.

Well I’m actually moving out to a country rural area, and I’m actually looking at buying a focus ST 2018 model. You see the mustang picture to the left so I have a race car. But I don’t want just a econobox I want something with a little pep something nice specially since I’m going to pay for it. And the hatchback fits what I need perfectly. Since I can’t leave any vehicle a loan that I own I’m not going to buy a base model or a Ford escape and not be able to do anything with it. I already own a Ford Ranger that I’m lifting 4 inches for ground clearance and with the gearing in the transmission in the rear end even with 31 inch tall tires I’m still looking at 18 to 20 miles per gallon so I’m not getting rid of my truck never will. I don’t understand why they would discontinue the small cars like the Ford fiesta and Ford focus since they offer electric model is overseas I would just bring the new revamped body styles here. As far as the Taurus fusion and the other car it doesn’t bother me that they’ll quit making those. However if ford doesn’t find a way to make the electric hybrid or full electric vehicles affordable they’re not going to sell them. I’ve looked at hybrids and full electric‘s and their freaking expensive. I’m not spending $40-$50,000 on a hybrid or an electric vehicle. That’s too much money. So yes I plan on buying my focus ST here in the next month or so. Oh I’m actually a retired Ford mechanic factory trained and certified. Even though the focus does present some mechanical issues or hard to reach components that would need to be replaced especially the alternator yes when I worked at Ford dealerships all the mechanics hated replacing the alternator on the Ford focus platform. So I’m not worried about it.

I think it sux that ford is doing this.. i see 100s of Americans on youtube that have ST's and RS's and they all love those cars so what will they do when they want a new one...?? i guess i am (for once) actually lucky to be living in Australia... pretty shit here in every other respect though.

You mentioned things have this life cycle where they come back and you are very right they do. With that said the economic status in this country is headed for another crash because of the rich elite and bankers and when the crash happened it’s not going to matter whether you have a gasoline vehicle or electric vehicle you’re not going to be able to get gasoline for the vehicle and you’re not going to be able to plug the vehicle in because the power will probably be off. So with that said if you don’t have to buy a new vehicle don’t put that money into some prep’s so that you can survive the coming crash you’re going to need basic items food water some type of toiletries medical supplies oh yes and that ever hated black rifle because the ones that don’t fret are going to be trying to get to the ones that did so that they can take your food in your water and if you don’t have security enough to protect yourself and Keep your preps you’re not going to make it very far. So yes history does repeat itself on an absolute ironic scale because of the greed of the elites in the banking industry.

im excited for an electric future, but at the same time I can't owning a nice sports car and not hearing a nice exhaust note. Where I live there is quite a large car culture and I love the sound a well built car that drives by, including slapping aftermarket exhaust on my car/future cars (maybe). That is one of the only things that dissapoints me, but electric is better for the environment and would help to save money on gas. Also what will happen to manuals? They will be fazed out with electric vehicles :(.
