Woohoo thank you for showcasing the new east trail up vanho! We all worked really hard on the trail, and it’s amazing to hear positive feedback! You hit the nail on the head with your comments the trail is for everyone and sustainable to handle high volumes. This summer well I was working I had a 88 year old women hike up and tell me that she wouldn’t be able to hike mountains anymore without this trail, it made my heart so happy!

LOL fair point! Coming from just south of the ADK border, we've had an excessively mild winter ;)

Funny story, before my wife and I started on our 46 journey (currently at 26/46), we assumed Mt.Jo was a high peak. We hiked it, arrived at the top and told some kids on the summit that Mt.Jo was our 2nd high peak. They laughed at us for a solid 5 minutes. We quickly realized Mt.Jo was not one of the 46 😂😂
Awesome video man. Hope to see you in the trails!

Awesome video. Korra is such a pretty pup and she looked like she was really enjoying that hike. The views, even though cloudy, still were pretty kewl. You can kind of sort of a little bit.....see the views.

Great video man, maybe a little too much snow for my taste but that also gives a special beauty to this video. Stay safe everyone.

Off to Mt Ho tomorrow via south meadows to break in a new pair of snowshoes.
Going to save the new trail up for another time.
IMO, one of the best views in the ADK........on a clear..ish day which is pretty rare!

Mt. Jo was the beginning of my understanding that all hikers in the ADK are not truthful..the short hike is straight up a stream bed..not easy for a first experience.. The ladders are an addition since I was up there. Nice to see the new trail to Mt.V. From the ski center. Looks like it was fun.

Yea, I'm honestly amazed when folks say that something like Mt Marcy was their first ADK experience ... that's like a 17-mile day and many thousands of feet of elevation gain! Something like Mt. Van Ho or Mt. Jo are excellent first ADK mountains because they give you that rugged terrain and epic views without being 5+ miles from civilization ;)

Love it! Had my first ADK experience about 3 months ago, amazing area. We still have no snow over here in Indiana. Wait, you guys got SWITCHBACKS? lol. Micro-spikes FTW! Those "short" hikes there in the ADK are no joke, from my limited experience.

I did it a week ago. No roots, no rocks... It's nice taking hike without looking down every five seconds. The view at the top is probably one of the best in the Adirondacks.

The return on investment (views to energy/effort) is so amazing, and you're right in the heart of the Central High Peaks, so it's simply gorgeous!

I apologize if this is a a question that has been asked or if you have a video on it already. I'm a bigger guy looking for hiking apparel and would love some opinions and options. Thanks and again great videos!!

Hey Shaun - typically I wear XXL in most brands of clothing, so that's my go-to size when checking out apparel for hiking. For my bottoms, I've had a lot of success with Columbia convertable hiking pants, LLBean lined/insulated pants, and Adidas or Champion shorts. I wear a size 12-13 (wide) footwear, so for socks, I'm a big fan of Darn Tough and Injinji toe socks (XL size for both), as well as Altra Lone Peaks for trail runners (3-season) and Columbia Bugaboot 3 or Titanium for winter boots. For my upper body, again, I go with XXL shirts, hoodies, and coats. Over the last year, I've been rocking the moisture wicking shirts that I sell in my merch shop (link in the description above), and they've held up great, so I recommend them.
Hopefully that's helpful. Feel free to reach out on Facebook or Instagram for a deeper dive conversation if you want. Thanks for watching!
