How hard was it switching to trumpet I have played tuba for 6 years and am trying out for DCI but under certain medical conditions I have to march trumpet but I can see here it's clearly possible to do !
Drum corps life It was quite challenging, we worked on it during the offseason and EVERY DAY of the summer and it was still challenging. Marching trumpet is absolutely nothing like marching tuba; there is much more resistance with trumpet. If you are serious about marching trumpet, start working on it now. Consider taking a few lessons too for proper pedagogy if you can. You'd be surprised what you can achieve through consistent practice and dedication.
the more videos I watch on carolina crown the more I want to march with them but I'll probably need another 2 years of private lessons to actually have a chance of making audition
He had a nasty fall early in the season that made his bell very susceptible to dents, so his horn would randomly dent when he put it down. They fixed it before the next show.
MuskratBandit Oh, I think I actually remember seeing that on Tumblr a while ago. I don't think it said which corps it was, but there was a picture of a tuba with a crushed bell and with a note saying that it was the result of jazz running on a muddy field.
It's so awesome to see tuba switch straight to trumpet. It's freaking incredible.
Hunter Johnson I never understood why that was there
10:50 "Pew! Pew! Pew! Pew! Welcome to the gunshow." lol
Wow! Tuba to 🎺 Impressive and huffing & puffing the whole time. "Tuba Life" 🖤 I miss it dearly...
CrownBRASS was on SOMETHING this year and I love it

why did you have to switch to trumpet? I play tuba but switched to baritone/euphonium because of upper back scoliosis on my left side
@@seansutherland6270 it was for the high brass feature where everyone was switched to high brass
Josh, you're awesome!

11;40 Damn that guys horn is all dented up what happened?
Towards the end, what happened to that other tuba's bell? One of them looks rather crumpled.

Oh and this may seem weird to ask but do you know if there is a hight limit in DCI?
No.. Just an age limit

at 10:00 what does orange shorts have on his tuba?
William Haney it looks like a hat
William Haney He didn't want to run to the sideline to take his shirt off, so he just tied it around his horn.
