Hey everyone! I'm the one that was lucky enough to have this head cam. I'd be more than happy to answer any burning questions anyone has about the show, techniques, music, etc.
2 things: 1) You guys aren't normally so casual during the show, that's only because of the victory runthrough, right? And 2) was that cross through during the low brass feature in the opener as nasty as it looks on here?
this is the year that they made a perfect music score and i was lucky enough to the the field judge recording of the judge being completely blown away.
If this doesn't give you chills, I have no idea what will. It's so amazing how much these guys can do. They're able to memorize all of their extremely complicated drill, body, and music, and still be able to talk normally throughout the performance to each other?? You don't know how much I worship this show.
Super Amesters he is, maybe to funny. Rumors are going around that he may not be able to come back because our director didn't think he was really doing his job :(
What a simply amazing show. I USED to say "You can't win finals with a 6th place drumline/hornline...etc." Thank you for proving me wrong. Well deserved championship. I honestly don't think it matters if you won, or the Devils or any other corps won. Your show will be the most played/viewed on audio/video format. I think yours and the Scouts will be the most played/viewed. This was a great year for drum corps. Can't wait for next year when you and the other corps are battling it out!
If they came out with a game for Marching Band kids and you got to perform these kind of shows, I would play this every day of my life because I madly love this!! WAY BETTER THAN COD!!!!!!
AMAZING!There are a few of my friends that said all the music Crown played was basically the same part over and over and that's why Crown sounds so good and there was nothing significant about the spoken words/narration. Well let them listen to this. The parts are all not the same but variations that does not repeat the same part over and over. Also, the words are spoken using specific notes, not just a random pitch. Also I had been pulling for a Crown win all summer and went and saw them four times in different states. My first time visiting finals and it was a history in the making experience. Having the corps you follow so closely during the season and having that same corps win at finals was just so much more satisfying......icing on the cake baby!Tim Malone, your 5 years and winning the first finals victory in your age out year will always be special. You worked for so long and hard and I am glad you were rewarded.Congrats and thanks for making this year a one to remember!
Man, I love Crown. This show made me and my mom cry. That's what I want to accomplish by doing drum corps. Make a crowd feel those feelings of euphoria and make them jump from their seats and cry out of joy. To inspire that kind of emotion through artistry like that is truly powerful, and something I could only hope to achieve.
Open up a second window and run the wide cam video simultaneously, Then take a minute to sync the two together. (that's the tricky part). It's awesome, especially if you get it synced spot on, then you can play with the audio until you get them mixed right. This is the link to the wide cam. Carolina Crown 2013 Victory Run
This takes me back... Strange to see what it looks like on the field again! I was never in Corps but I marched 4 years in high school (in S.C.). Congrats on the win, guys - we're all proud of you!
Congrats, you guys are awesome. The horn line is out of this world epic! Now we can have one of our band directors back. Congrats again Crown and I can't wait til Mr. Futrell gets back to us for us to congratulate him too.
This is so cool if you notice the breathing he has to do to belt out those notes for so long. Watch video from the stands and it sounds seamless because of how they stagger it. Love this. Thank you!
god if i only i had the music to this. im seriously addicted to this show. im memorized parts of it and im a trumpet player! i love this freaking show!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm in the marching band at my university and we talk on the field all the time. I really love the music in this and I would like to get their version. It's a lot of songs all together. I really like this and everyone is just happy. Good to be in marching band.
Thank you DCI for putting this video up. Next year do the same thing to all the drum corps during finals. You put cam views of the show instead of a tunnel cam the. You will drawn in people. Lots of people are on youtube. Keep that in mind instead of Charging people so much just to see finals.
WOW WOW I was in marching band and THIS is what I remember. You cant hear the entire band when your moving around to diff positions.....you have to know your footing and these people are FREAKING AWESOME....WATCHING from the stands you get the full affect. Congrats. xo
as a 5 summer DCI age-out, that was in the guard, it was very interesting to see how the guard looked from the hornline prospective on the field.. since, I always knew how they looked on the field to me haha
In 94 when crown decided to step up and try to play with the big boys...we did ok thst year. Nice to know that crown took it this year....proud to be part of that 94 squad.
This is such a great video. I play mello in a marching band from rock hill South Carolina. A lot of people look up to crowns victory this year as inspiration. We are also playing bud on the ledge for our ballad. Anyway thanks
This is what I want to be doing, I aspire to be one of you! And loving how Drum Corps are implemented these instrument cams, it gives such a unique perspective. I have one of my own and love making and editing videos of mine!
Most corps charge around $3000 tuition for the season, and on top of that the audition fees, travel costs for off-season camps, and the money to take on tour and you're looking around $3.5k-$4k
Hey everyone! I'm the one that was lucky enough to have this head cam. I'd be more than happy to answer any burning questions anyone has about the show, techniques, music, etc.
how was the camera mounted? I had looked in other videos but couldn't see clearly enough.
It was just a go-pro camera on a head-strap.
2 things: 1) You guys aren't normally so casual during the show, that's only because of the victory runthrough, right? And 2) was that cross through during the low brass feature in the opener as nasty as it looks on here?
Why were y'all not wearing shakos? Just curious
+RebuffedAsh Corps don't have to wear shakos for encores or the victory runthrough! 😊 Unless you're the Cadets lol
0:53 "Hey Kevin, are we in this rep?" "Yeah." "OK." lol
Great point! There are lots of woodwinds in DCI. They're just all playing brass instruments! :-)
Drum Corps International wtf...

@@dzinator4225 back then, 8 years ago, there werent reply sections

I find it cool that they're talking during the show in between movements sometimes. Like I know it's a victory run and all but it's still awesome
12:21 Best Mello lick in DCI history! It was so good they used it in both 2012 and 2013

Its funny seeing one of your directors for marching band compete with his own and see what he saw.
1:35 "must touch butt..." lol
Good lord, you really get a sense of how freaking fast they're moving from this viewpoint. Awesome.
11:15 "I'm too busy grabbing everybody's butts" then "I'm sorry, what?"

Crazy. I marched with him when he was a senior in high school and I was an 8th grader. Awesome to know he's going out like this. Congrats Tim!
I find it kind of cool this video was published on my birthday. :)
Speechless....I'm utterly speechless....
5:55 is my favorite part of the show. The low brass is so powerful! Anyone else?
first person marcher video game. god i wish i could do dci
If you meet the requirements (age mainly) you can! dont limit yourself
thanks for telling me that! now all i need is some money
Thats what im working on aswell
Judgement Yeah getting the money is a challenge, but any corps experience is worth it

At 3:06 , the guy on his left is my visual instructor for my marching band. Also, the female mello is my other.
