    Absolutely beautiful to watch...your filming is as much art, as your finished product!

    I really enjoy your videos. Since I don't have a $3000 sewing machine it's really nice to see you hand sewing things (like I have to do). And like I pointed out on instagram, your pricing for patterns is extremely fair compared to so many other quality leather product makers. Thanks for sharing this women's wallet video.

      Thank you for the kind words! We don't have a $3,000 sewing machine either...I actually don't even know how to use a sewing machine 😬 Luckily you only need a few hand tools to make super nice stuff, and we're really happy to be able to spread that message and help folks get into the craft without emptying their bank accounts on industrial machinery :)

    I just thought that I very much appreciate the fact that you stitch by hand, not using a machine. Hand stitching sort of gives the final product a personal touch.

    This is the pattern I bought… I’ve got it half way finished… I used some Faraday fabric for the backing instead of a second piece of leather to turn it into a RFID blocking wallet…

    Tip from a noob here. I use the angled exacto #19 blade for roughing the leather. It's a perfect angle for just that task. Hope this helps someone!

    • @Corter

      #19's work great! We like to use #2's here :)

    Good job ! All the best in the new year 2020. Buddy, what is the thickness of the leather you make the wallet from?

  • @allanpennington
    @allanpennington 4 роки тому

    Re the zip. If you cut the end off you must bar tack it so it doesn't undo from the non closed end. If that happened after assembly you would not be able to get the zipper to function. I would move the zipper slot to be on the flat side of the inner flap rather than right on the rolled edge. It would sit flatter and look more aesthetically pleasing and the zipper pull ring would too. Thus when closed the wallet would sit flat and the zipper pull wouldn't push up on the flap.

    Small question: The pockets and zipper, are those Veg tan pieces that were dyed by you before hand or no? Was wondering because I have that chrome pull up piece but the back looks nothing like the back of the pockets. Making a purse for my mother. Your video's are actually what got me into leather, so thank you for that! Love your videos!

    It is very similar to a biker long wallet. Is it because the position of the snap? Thanks.

    Hello there. Hope you can spare some time and kindly answer. I found this site where scraps of leather is sold by kg and I was thinking of buying some pieces and make my own wallet/handbag. What are the things I need to buy before buying the leather? I mean only the strict stuff. I can't spend much,most of the tools I'll need to improvise. I know you have a video about something like this and I intend to watch it. Are there any advices you could offer? Like what leather should I buy for a handbag like the one you made for your sister and what kind for a wallet? Thank you in advance.
    I want to make my own because I really care about the environment and I'm tired of cheap wallets that last only a few months,mostly a year. Also because I can't afford buying new ones,they're too expensive.

    Thanks for the video.
    1:52 At this point I thought it was going to have a magnetic closure and I have looked at the footage yet can not see what it is, at 4:45 it seems to have disappeared yet back again at 4:56 Huh what sorcery is this? lol I would guess this is probably a plastic circular disk to add support to the closure, is this along the correct lines?
