I was here, came all the way from Toronto for the weekend. Such an incredible game, heart was broken but was astonished at what I saw. Also caught a foul ball hit by Andy Ibanez, so it got a bit better
There’s this game, the 5 run comeback against the Dodgers, the little league game against the Yankees where the Tigers were scoreless until 2 outs in the 9th but still won, the Padres game with the grand slam in the 9th also with 2 outs…so many improbable individual wins for the Tigers this year in addition to the improbability of their late season run and Minnesota’s late season swoon that ended up with the Tigers in the playoffs.
That musve been so cool! You just never know, especially in baseball! I remember watching it live on my phone. Last season will always be in my heart, I remember after that game and the Yankees game for the little league world series, knowing my heart that this team could make the playoffs. My dad didnt believe me but I could see it, the grit, the genuine way this team didnt care who they were playing they just played the best they could was awesome. We have a good coach, and a great group of guys. They dont blow up the stat sheet but I like their character and their attitude. They got a lot more flak than they deserved for sure.
Tigers radio broadcaster, Dan Dickerson and Bluejays legend Joe Carter called that game, and anyone who watched that game will tell you what a great called game it was, just made a great game, the most entertaining game of the year, being a Tigers fan might of helped
When I think of insane games (from previous seasons, not from the most recent season), I think of a game played between the Red Sox and Rangers in August of 2008. The Red Sox sent knuckleballer Charlie Zink to the mound, making his major league debut, and the Sox' bats seemed determined to get him his first career win, spotting him 10 runs in the first inning and restoring the 10-run lead with a pair in the 3rd to make it 12-2. But the Rangers struck back in the fifth. After a leadoff double, Zink induced a groundout, but then gave up five straight hits and left the game after just 4⅓, two outs shy of being eligible for the win. The Sox bullpen didn't help much, either; Javier Lopez allowed another RBI single before getting the second out, and then David Aardsma came in and immediately gave up a home run. 12-10 Red Sox. Boston struck back with a pair in the bottom of the fifth, but the Rangers would not be stopped and piled on five more runs in the sixth to go ahead 15-14. Even were it not for the rule that a starter needs to go five innings for a win, Zink's first career start would be a no-decision. Both teams would add another run in the 7th, but the Red Sox came through in the eighth, with Dustin Pedroia's 2-out double tying the game at 16-16 and following an intentional walk to David Ortiz, Kevin Youkilis gave the Sox the lead back with a 3-run homer. And with that 3-run lead, the Sox didn't exactly hold runners on in the ninth, leading to the Rangers getting one more back. Final score: Red Sox 19, Rangers 17. Unlike that Pirates-Phillies game, the team that was up 10-0 after one inning _did_ win in the end, but not without going down 16-14 and needing a four-run rally in the 8th. Oh, and the 8 earned runs in 4⅓ innings, equating to a 16.62 ERA? That ended up being Zink's career ERA. He never got called up again. But his one career start was a memorable one.
I don't know if I'd call this game "improbable" more like an exciting back and forth that made your tickets worth it. I'd say considering the team they were playing, the most improbable games were those two comeback wins over the Dodgers just before the All Star Break, as well as that win against the Orioles just before the end of the regular season where Riley Greene threw out a guy at home from the outfield and Trey Sweeney made that insane catch.
I'd say most 'improbable' would be the 'Danny Jansen' game. Or rain delay/makeup game after he was traded. Played for both teams and...as announced, replaced as batter for Toronto, and in as catcher for Boston, at the top of the inning.
Your right about Carson Kelly’s stats not being amazing but he did play very well in clutch situations or risp for the Tigers I think he was hitting above .3 and his slugging was up in risp situations
So, a team on the rise beat a team in decline in a very exciting game? I can't believe that's never happened. No idea what the probability of that is. Must be like, "most improbable."
Such a shame that the Tigers wore those stupid uniforms at home instead of the home whites. It's just not right. Wear that crap on the road or better yet, not at all.
The Blue Jays never failed to disappoint me last year.

Think 2025 will be better? I'm kinda over Atkins as GM. His 15 years at the Guardians didn't amount to much until the season after he left...
Pain
I was at this game! The most exciting regular season game I've ever been to, just such a rush
I had the privilege of going to the game the before this (3-2 tigers or something) and remember watching this one wishing I was there.

Same knew Vierling had won us the game as soon as that left his bat. That was a cannon shot
YES! was there too. The only game we went to. Beautiful day, up and down all day then a huge UP. Funny seeing it highlighted here.

I was at that tigers game where they upset the dodgers. The stadium was emptying out around the 8th so i got great seats right behind home plate.

As a Jays fan I fucking hated last year’s team
This deserves more views
This game really needs to be a cinematic full length movie
2:40 I think you had the stats backwards?
Yep it’s backwards. Ibañez mashes lefties.
@@kiran___music1death, taxes, Andy Ibanez torturing lefties

This was the first game I’d been to in years, and it really ignited a love for this tigers team that will be burning for a very long time
This is when I realized the Jays were not going to turn around the season.
Under the radar odd thing about this game is both teams wearing dark uniforms. Looks wild.
Your right about Carson Kelly’s stats not being amazing but he did play very well in clutch situations or risp for the Tigers I think he was hitting above .3 and his slugging was up in risp situations
Watching this it reminds me of all Torontos bad trades at the start of the season. Could be such a good team if they could keep a consistent lineup
Literally every time a Jays player was introduced: He was really good the last 3 years, but in 2024….
I expect to see a lot of the same and worse this coming season from the Jays. It was difficult to watch them play last season.
This game should be in MLB’s “Epic Games of 2024” playlist

I was there 10/10
Yeah, but the Tigers owner ship has no interest in signing any good free agents or giving any players they already have extensions.
11 hr danny jansen was a power hitter????
As a Jays fan, has to laugh when you said they’re bad, but not worst in the league bad. Yeah, just worst in the division bad 😂😂😂
Looks like the UA-cam algorithm is finally doing its job.
I was at the game before this game😢

Let’s wear the same plain white jersey we’ve worn for 100 years, only thing that changes is the font of the D, you’re probably from that era tho
