The Denver Broncos are the NFL's most surprising team this season here's how.
Everyone wrote them off before the season even started including myself, but they went on a historic playoff run to defy the odds and prove everyone wrong.

The Most Improbable Baseball Game of 2024
Переглядів 25 тис.21 день тому
On May 26th, 2024, the Detroit Tigers and Toronto Blue Jays played one of the best baseball games of the 2024 season. But it doesn't stand out just because of the score. The situation the teams were in at the time of the game makes the game a whole lot more telling. And now, we look back at this largely forgotten game and give it the recognition it deserves.

    Your right about Carson Kelly’s stats not being amazing but he did play very well in clutch situations or risp for the Tigers I think he was hitting above .3 and his slugging was up in risp situations

    When I think of insane games (from previous seasons, not from the most recent season), I think of a game played between the Red Sox and Rangers in August of 2008. The Red Sox sent knuckleballer Charlie Zink to the mound, making his major league debut, and the Sox' bats seemed determined to get him his first career win, spotting him 10 runs in the first inning and restoring the 10-run lead with a pair in the 3rd to make it 12-2. But the Rangers struck back in the fifth. After a leadoff double, Zink induced a groundout, but then gave up five straight hits and left the game after just 4⅓, two outs shy of being eligible for the win. The Sox bullpen didn't help much, either; Javier Lopez allowed another RBI single before getting the second out, and then David Aardsma came in and immediately gave up a home run. 12-10 Red Sox. Boston struck back with a pair in the bottom of the fifth, but the Rangers would not be stopped and piled on five more runs in the sixth to go ahead 15-14. Even were it not for the rule that a starter needs to go five innings for a win, Zink's first career start would be a no-decision. Both teams would add another run in the 7th, but the Red Sox came through in the eighth, with Dustin Pedroia's 2-out double tying the game at 16-16 and following an intentional walk to David Ortiz, Kevin Youkilis gave the Sox the lead back with a 3-run homer. And with that 3-run lead, the Sox didn't exactly hold runners on in the ninth, leading to the Rangers getting one more back. Final score: Red Sox 19, Rangers 17. Unlike that Pirates-Phillies game, the team that was up 10-0 after one inning _did_ win in the end, but not without going down 16-14 and needing a four-run rally in the 8th. Oh, and the 8 earned runs in 4⅓ innings, equating to a 16.62 ERA? That ended up being Zink's career ERA. He never got called up again. But his one career start was a memorable one.

    Such a shame that the Tigers wore those stupid uniforms at home instead of the home whites. It's just not right. Wear that crap on the road or better yet, not at all.

      That musve been so cool! You just never know, especially in baseball! I remember watching it live on my phone. Last season will always be in my heart, I remember after that game and the Yankees game for the little league world series, knowing my heart that this team could make the playoffs. My dad didnt believe me but I could see it, the grit, the genuine way this team didnt care who they were playing they just played the best they could was awesome. We have a good coach, and a great group of guys. They dont blow up the stat sheet but I like their character and their attitude. They got a lot more flak than they deserved for sure.

    There’s this game, the 5 run comeback against the Dodgers, the little league game against the Yankees where the Tigers were scoreless until 2 outs in the 9th but still won, the Padres game with the grand slam in the 9th also with 2 outs…so many improbable individual wins for the Tigers this year in addition to the improbability of their late season run and Minnesota’s late season swoon that ended up with the Tigers in the playoffs.

  • @davwud2
    @davwud2 21 день тому

    So, a team on the rise beat a team in decline in a very exciting game? I can't believe that's never happened. No idea what the probability of that is. Must be like, "most improbable."

    I don't know if I'd call this game "improbable" more like an exciting back and forth that made your tickets worth it. I'd say considering the team they were playing, the most improbable games were those two comeback wins over the Dodgers just before the All Star Break, as well as that win against the Orioles just before the end of the regular season where Riley Greene threw out a guy at home from the outfield and Trey Sweeney made that insane catch.

    • @bobd2659
      @bobd2659 23 дні тому

      I'd say most 'improbable' would be the 'Danny Jansen' game. Or rain delay/makeup game after he was traded. Played for both teams and...as announced, replaced as batter for Toronto, and in as catcher for Boston, at the top of the inning.

      A bit premature. Hollywood Brown, Hopkins and Pacheco. the Chiefs are getting healthy at the right time. Their gameplan is to get rid of the ball quick and since these weapons at WR are coming into form I expect a similar gameplan going forward in the post season. This same song and dance was said last Christmas after the loss to the Raiders and we all know what happened after that. I’ve learned not to bet against Mahomes after a large sample size of his post season career.
