I remember my dad teaching me a Bo Diddley rhythm which he referred to as 'Shave and a haircut'. Keith Richards also calls that rhythm by the same phrase. I was puzzled at first what it meant until I heard the full expression, ''Shave and a haircut, two bits!

I love your style and look forward to your vids. I do have a question though, how do you manage to strum so smoothly without using a pick?
Hey Jeffrey, can you help me learn Jonesy Blue's version of the Bo Diddley beat found on you tube?
Yup pretty darn good.

I didn't know that you could hook your guitar up to an oversized toaster
pretty close dude, Bo used open tuning, , nice axe !!
Third!
I like your version. Do you know how Buddy Holly played his fills? Most guitar players try to get their guitars to mimic the beat, but he let the rhythm section do the "Bo Diddley" beat, while he played fills over it. I thought that was a really good approach to the song, letting the drums do what they do. His version was the earliest cover in '56, was it not? Have yet to find a good lesson the BH version.
What guitar is this??
That guitar Jeff uses in this lesson is an older Reverend model guitar - they make some cool stuff for sure - keep on rocking and thanks for watching! David T, NLG
