In 1967 I flew from the UK with my parents to Toronto boarded the train to Vancouver stopping off in Banff for 5 days before completing the journey. This journey is what got me in to modelling North American GN and CP 😎🚂🚂
I can hardly wait for this set to be released! Way back in May, I preordered the 10-car set + 3-car add-on set + 2 extra skyline domes in the original CP Maroon, along with 2 FP9As in the CP Script scheme! It will be a beautiful addition to my collection.
I'd like to "milk" the comments and say: "It's a Beauty whey to go..." Here in BC, the Rocky Mountaineer Rail Tour train got with Athearn and produced their very own train. You should get royalties and a discount every time you travel on the Canadian. I have an idea about the lighting... I will message you on FB or email about that idea. I rode the Canadian to Vancouver after the NMRA Convention in Toronto and really enjoyed the trip. When I saw your announcement of the train in N I had to reserve it. I am sure it must have come to San Diego at some time. At least it will for me.

I've traveled on 'The Canadian' over 50x since 1964. Apparently the Budd Corp. planned on building a Sleeper Dome car for this train but CP decided not to order them. They had the config 4 DBRs 4 Roomettes & 4 single bedrooms under the dome.

Can We please get some Chicago Metra Nippon Sharyo Gallery Bi-Level Coaches In HO scale to go with the metra locos you guys are producing, and a Cab coach with dcc lighting!
The 10 car set represents a typical consist, but this can vary greatly depending on the time of year and era. Sets in the 70's could get as short as 6 cars in the winter, while summer consists in the early 2000's could be over 30 cars!
The sets won't be returning in HO, but we are making the cars again! Currently the Manor sleepers and Baggage/dorm cars have been announced for release in 2021.

That's correct. When they were modified for HEP, the water tank capacity was increased. This was as much about increasing the weight as it was about increasing the capacity.

Right now three sets are required. It used to be four.
