You should never feel guilty for doing what brings you joy. We are "allowed" to enjoy more than one type of crafting. I love seeing what you do and getting ideas from you. I have several EPP blocks from almost 10 years ago and I have decided that I am going to machine applique them onto larger blocks and then machine sew them into a quilt. It's perfectly fine to do whatever method we choose. We just have to enjoy and love what we are doing. I would love to see a yellow and pink house please.

My wife is watching this video, and you are saying you need to use your machine as you can't keep up with the fabric you buy. It made me laugh as she is just the same.
Have fun, and don't feel guilty, your way is right for you.

Love your videos. I have been fpp for many years and order newsprint paper from Amazon to print patterns onto, it is so much easier to remove as it’s very thin.

Rachel you are a gem. I just love your videos and I think you are such fun. Please don't feel guilty. This is an old video so I hope you have got over the guilt by now. As long as you are creating and inspiring others to create it doesn't matter how you are doing it. The machine is just another tool in your sewing box so to speak. Besides the whole point of crafting is to enjoy it and to have something you love at the end of it. ❤

I love FPP, but I don't sew my papers. I use the same one over and over by the fold method. No picking and no stress on my stitches either. Your obsession is one of mine too. Loads of sewing skills and loads of variety!! I have lots of TenCow patterns!!

I have decided that I do my stitching for pleasure and rarely for the outcome. So I don't feel guilty if I do something else that I enjoy. I love the bordered star and think what a wonderful quilt that would make up. Foundation Paper Piecing is certainly on my to do list. So lovely to catch up with you again. xx

I totally agree with you that I really should be crafting at the same rate of buying fabric! My husband says I have my own store to shop in!! LOL I also love to do EPP and embroidery. I have downloaded several FPP sheets but have yet to try and give it a go.....but I also have a queen sized 1" hexagon GFG quilt on the go for my bed and multiple knitting and crochet projects on the go.... and I purchased all I need for the Patchwork of the Crosses EPP quilt!! I just hope that I am able to live long enough to finish all of the projects that I want to get done!!

I definitely understand that “guilty” feeling. I’m a knitter but when earlier this year I learned EPP I didn’t knit for months! I’m just getting into FPP now as well.
My house color suggestion it based off my own home color: dark blue with a bright light green door. ❤

Don’t beat yourself up. Being creative is the name of the game and what gives us joy, whichever direction it takes you. I knit, sew and crochet and I have several projects on the go, so that I can choose what I’m in the mood for. I bought the mini houses pattern plus the seller sent me the trees one as well. I like your idea of doing the mixture in your quilt…..I might just have to copy that idea.

Hi! I love these tiny pieces as well. You didn't do anything wrong with that one corner, if it bothers you just put a stay stitch or a short basting stitch in it to make it behave it'll be fine. I quilt large and small quilts, EPP, FPP by hand and machine..NO GUILT! Most of us sewists have multiple interests in sewing. As long as we buy fabric and sew it we're generally happy right? Have fun experimenting 💕

You are the reason I am obsessed with EPP! Those houses are adorable. Thanks so much I have one more thing to do now! I finished a table runner with 1 in hexagons for my daughter for Easter and now I am working on a scrappy 1 inch hex quilt for myself with Kaffe Fassett and batik fabrics. I'd love to see a house that is purple and green. OMG! I just figured out I need about 3,500 hexies for my quilt! Love seeing you excited about your fabrics. Big hugs! ❤❤❤

Hi from Oklahoma. I like to do hand embroidery and counted cross stitch. I’m new to quilting. I work full time and I get frustrated that I don’t spend more time working on my quilting skills. I also like “smalls” which is what drew me to your channel. I want to try EPP and foundation paper piecing eventually. I would love to see any tutorial you decide to make.😊

The stars are lovely. I was looking at them the other night on Etsy. FPP is something I’ve never been able to get the hang of but I’m determined to give it another go. I was going to say pink and yellow for a house but I saw someone has already suggested that so yellow and green is my house colour suggestion. I’m feeling guilty not doing my EPP BOM just now, I have a baby blanket to finish knitting.

I was laughing out loud every time you laughed at how much you've fancied FPP that I couldn't help but think that the next time we see a new video ALL the walls behind you are going to be covered in tiny FPP blocks -- like wall tiles. You laughed so much in this video that FPP was clearly your guilty pleasure; also about needing to quilt faster to keep up with your purchases (I can relate)! Love the idea of using interfacing instead of paper and may try it with the machine vs. hand stitching because removing the paper is a big reason I've not been interested in FPP. A quilty friend at quilt retreat loves FPP and raves about it, but I've never been excited to try it ... until this video! Why do you do this to me, Rachel? You are always inspiring me to do something new and adding to my quilt to-do list! 🙂 Please don't feel guilty for creating using a different method; we all grow and learn and there is a season to everything. House color request: black and yellow. Blessings to you.

I love your enthusiasm! FPP is so much fun! My first attempt, however, was a disaster. I didn’t get the idea of leaving enough fabric to fold over each section, and sewed it all backwards, which didn’t work. But after that, I found some FPP teachers-one or two in Australia who had delightful patterns and tutorials.

As someone who is very creative and loves doing all types of craft, I have not got time to feel guilty of "cheating" on a single craft lol I paint portraits, crochet, knit, spin, weave, sew and I also do EEP as well as traditional quilting. Of course with this amount of creativity sometimes I have loads of projects on the go and do not get any one project completed quickly, unless I am on a roll with one craft and I leave the other crafts for a break, which is perfectly okay to do ;). I make up my own rules/guidelines, no one else. I love the variation of projects I can create for my home, friends and family. Don't get me wrong, it is not always plain sailing though, I do have a problem with too choice sometimes lol. I have all these skills so sometimes I have days when I am not sure what I am in the mood to do and end up doing nothing because Ive taken too long to choose lol But oh what a great problem to have lol It means I am never bored and when I go back to a craft it still feels fresh and I love doing it all :) Look after your mental health, because nobody else can ;) T x

Morning, I feel exactly the same with Lisa's fabric and I love the zip bag you have made. I love foundation paper piecing and have just found a double bed quilt pattern in my box which is 'waiting' to be started from my suitcase of fabric. Like you it brings me excitement - can't wait to start it, does it have to wait to start before other things are finished? - We'll see. What a good idea with the light box. Thanks for sharing everything. (I never make coasters, can't bring myself to put cups on my work!!). I have just made a quilt on the machine but hand quilted it for my great grandson and like you it doesn't feel quite right. But it is right - its exciting. I made his a quilt in two weeks and have loved it. Then I want to make a quilt as you go slowly by hand - I go with the mood, which is why it's so great to have a plethera of different skills and ideas. So much to say - like crafting - so much to do - enjoy enjoy enjoy.

Rachel, You should try Foundation Paper Piecing with freezer paper! It's very fun as well and the patterns can be reused. You don't sew onto the paper at all so you save time not having to rip the paper off at the end. Irene @ Sugaridoo has a really good video tutorial! I made her One Two Tree Quilt in her QAL. Can I request a blossomtree? A lovely pink of fresh white lollipoptree against a blue sky... At the moment a lot of trees in my neighbourhood are blossoming in clouds of pink and white and it looks so pretty! We've got a long bicycle path through this part of town, flanked with these trees and that one week each year that they are in bloom is absolutely magical. When the little leaves start to fall, it looks like snow and to walk or cycle through that is like you are in a fairytale.

Another technique for foundation paper piecing is to do it with freezer paper. I like this method because you don’t have to tear the paper away after.

I use my coasters to sit my scissors on or seam rippers, rotary cutters, etc, as I am sewing. For some reason, I don’t like sitting my scissors down on a table without having something underneath to prevent scratches. Love your channel. Your makes are beautiful ❤

That is a very good idea! I hae one pair of scissors that has a sharp piece of metal on the handle and im always worried about scratches so maybe I need to make a little mat for my sewing station!

@@stitchwithrachel It’s so nice having beautiful mats laid out. I especially like to embroider on them. Call me the mat lady cuz I love making them for my refrigerator too. It’s a great way to keep the shelves clean in your frig while enjoying burst of color when you look inside.

Rachel, good for you for trying something new. You're developping other skills AND using unused fabric to create wonderful things (love the cushion & log-cabin blocks) so don't feel guilty. As for using up your fabric before buying more, that's an impossible dream for us fabric lovers, so you may as well admit defeat😂I would LOVE for you to do a tuto on fpp as I've just bought a light pad on Temu & was looking for a reason to justify buying it 😉 !!!!! Big hugs Michele 😘

If I'm defeated... can I still purchase more 🤣 I had no idea that temu sold light pads, that's great. I will upload a tutorial next weekend x

On te hand sewing through paper, it works best with very small stitches which tbh through paper would be difficult! Never unattainable, just difficult Beautiful work. I haven’t been subbed very long but I look forward to every video. Have a lovely day
